Chapter thirteen - It won't be easy

2085 Words
Kally's POV: I'm trying to bond with the brothers, but it's not working well. Blane and I have talked. Toby is trying. Jay doesn't even want to look at me. I'm starting to think that something has happened to him before. I can ask him, but I don't expect to receive an answer. One of his brothers might help me. I only want us to have good relations. No one said that we have to be friends. I'll be here for some time. If they go in the right way, they won't need me. No one knows when this will happen. I don't mind staying with them. They are not as bad as some people think. Let's say that the boys have made their choice. I won't judge them for that. Also, it's not affecting me in any way. I'll do my job and avoid talking to them. I mean, at least to Jay. He is the biggest struggle. I don't know what to do with him. Talking is not the solution. Maybe I should give him more time. It's not like I expect miracles. Let's see what I can do about him. I hope that we can manage to understand each other. I came to work an hour ago. I bought ice cream for the boys. Blane and I enjoyed it. Jay was in his room, mad at me again. It's not like I care about this. Until lunchtime, I was in the kitchen. I decided to make my coffee. It has nothing special, but I like to drink it that way. The only one who came was Blane. I guess he will make the sacrifice to talk to me. I'm not forcing anyone to do anything. - Hey, do you want coffee? - I asked - Yes, sure. - How is the mad guy? - I asked, and he laughed - He can't accept that someone is beating him in his game. - Jay has to get used to it. - I won't! - Jay shouted from his room - Here is your coffee. - That is good. What did you put in there? - My special ingredients. - Which are? - Caramel and milk. - You put caramel in your coffee? - Yes. No sugar. - Interesting. I would've never thought about this. - Now you know. - Yes. - Can I ask you something? - Sure. - Did something happen to Jay in the past? I think he treats me like that because I'm a girl. - I'm sorry, but I can't talk about this. It's part of the rules. - What rules? - We have some rules for each other. I can't tell you about that, either. - I see. Hopefully, we can fix the issue. - I'm sure you will. So far, Blane is the only one talking to me. I guess the others don't want to try. I started with lunch. My mind invented pasta with tomato sauce. I think they will eat it. When I was ready, I called them to eat. Everything was silent. Jay wasn't even looking at me. I finished with my food and left them to eat alone. Maybe if I'm gone, that will be better. - Why did you leave? - Toby asked - It's obvious that no one wants me there. - That is not true. Give him some time. - I'm not doing anything to him. - It's not because of that. He has other things on his mind. - Is he planning something for me? - Can we talk? - Jay asked - Sure. I'm listening. - You have two minutes to follow me. - What? - Go. You might not have another chance. - Toby said - Thanks. - I will say this only once. I don't like you, and I want you to get out. If you don't do it, I'll make your life hell. - Jay said - The decision is not yours. - You can do me the favor. Leave. - Let me think. No. He stood there for a while, looking at me. I'm not making his wish come true. Also, I'm working here. It wasn't my fault that he wasn't a good guy. I waited to see what he would say. - What do you want to leave? - Nothing. - Money? - No. - Good taste of me. - No, and eww. - Thank god. Is there anything I can offer you? - No. Will you give up? - No. - Cool. - To understand that no matter what I do, you won't give up. - Exactly. - What if I hurt you? - It won't be enough. - How? You don't even know what I will do. - Someone else did it before you. - What do you mean? - Nothing. Live your life and enjoy the summer. I think you should stop trying to get rid of me. It's not working. - I warned you. Don't feel sorry or cry. - The one who will do it will be you. I can't talk to him. He will always see me as his enemy, no matter what I say or do. The worst thing is that I want to keep fighting. I want to show him that I won't do anything to him. I'll give it one last chance for today. I don't want him to be mad at me if I work here. Jay was in the backyard alone. It won't be an easy one. - Hey. - I told you something. - I'm sorry. I didn't want to hurt you. - What do you want from me? - To stop being mad at me. - I don't want to deal with you. Can't you understand this? - Will you at least tell me what I did to you? - Nothing. - That is not true. I believe I'm bothering you because I'm a girl. Am I right? - It has nothing to do with that. - Then? - I don't need to tell you anything. You are no one. - I see. In that case, I can't do anything else. - I said and left Things were deep, for sure. Sadly, I can't do anything to help him. Toby and Blane won't tell me anything. It's better if I don't insist. The rest of the afternoon, I spent inside. Blane talked with me the most. I waited for their parents to come home and left. It's only my mom and I tonight. Dad is going outside. - Did something happen? You don't look much in the mood. - I'm fine. - Are you sure? - No. He keeps being mad at me. - Who? - Jay. Something must have happened to him before. The fault is not mine. - Maybe you have to give him some time. - Everyone says this. - Can I help you? - No. I'll be in my room. Call me when dinner is ready. If you want, I can help you. - There is no need for that. I got out of my room for dinner. I have offered to help my mom with it, but she denied it. Maybe I should leave Jay alone, but I see him every day. It won't be easy to do that. I started eating silently. Mom looked at me. - Are you still thinking about him? - My job was supposed to be funny. - Why don't you do your job without doing anything else? - If I do that, they will try to make me quit. - Are you sure they will go to a military school? - Yes. Their mom was clear. I don't like them much, but I can't let that happen. - Why do you care so much about them? - It has nothing to do with that. - Act casual and don't ask questions. If they want, they will talk with you. - Sure. Thanks. - No worries. Everything will be fine. - Can Addie come here? - Yes. I haven't seen her in a while. - Well, I have been busy. She gets occupied as well. - I'm sure you will see her on the weekend. - That's true. I won't miss that. Mom and I kept talking. Addie agreed to come here. I feel like I haven't spoken to her in ages, even though I text her daily news. She was here in an hour. I took her to my room. My best friend knows what is going on. I told her about the relationship I had with the boys. I don't think it will get better. So far, nothing worked. - Spill the tea. Are they trying on you? - They are ignoring me. Well, some of them. Blane is the only one talking to me every day. - Don't tell me Jay is still mad at you. - He is. I tried to talk to him twice. He didn't even want to hear about me. - I'm not surprised. - I don't know what to do anymore. - I'm afraid to ask, but why do you care so much? - No, I don't. Since I work there every day, we can have decent relations. - Are you falling for Jay? - What? No, eww. - Kally. Look at me. Do you like Jay? - No. I can't. Kian was enough t*****e. - In that case, you shouldn't care about these boys. - Even if it hadn't been them, I still would've done it. - I know. You are built like that. - What should I do now? I don't want to give up. - Wait and see if he will do something. He will come to you when he sees that you stopped bothering him. - You think? - I'm a girl. I know what I'm doing. - Most of the time, you have no idea what you are doing. - I know. - Then why are you telling me all this? - I have to play the role of the supportive friend. - Remind me not to listen to you again. - You were the one who invited me. - Maybe it was a mistake. - Hey! - I'm kidding. You can come to work with me. - Heck no! I don't want to see these guys. - They are not that bad. - Are you sure? Addie left when my dad came home. I guess he had a good night. I can see the smile on his face. I wanted to ask what had happened, but I didn't. I only went to check on him. It's not like I have what to tell him. I don't want to explain the same thing for the third time. Mom was asleep in the living room. Dad was changing himself in the bedroom. - Knock, knock. Can I come in? I didn't see anything. - I said, and he laughed - I know you prefer someone younger. - I never said that. - But it's true. - How was your night? I see you had a good time. - Yes, I can say that. How about you? - I had a decent day. - Do you have problems with the job? - No, no. That is good. I don't do much. - I'm sure you have what to do. - I find myself doing some activities. - See? How are the kids? - Great. I don't have problems with them. - Your mom is asleep, right? - Yes, she is in the living room. - Do me a favor and wake her up. - No problem. What will I receive for that? - What? - I'm kidding. I don't want anything. - That is better for you. I might listen to what people tell me and leave Jay alone. Since he doesn't want to talk to me, I can't do anything else to change his mind. The good news is that they stopped pranking me. I expect this to return. At least I have one brother on my side. Blane and I don't talk that much, but it's still more than with the others. I don't know how long I will keep this job. I want to have good relations with the boys. After all, I see them every day. Something has happened, but no one will tell me what it is. I shouldn't insist on this anymore. I hope that one day we can finally understand each other.
