Chapter : 8 The guest.

1160 Words
Elisa could not shake the fear of losing her position in the palace, a job that had brought her a sense of purpose and hope in her otherwise hopeless life. She had been granted this opportunity under strict rules and the watchful eyes of the Queen, whose stern warning echoed in her mind like a constant reminder of her place whenever she wanted to talk to Hemed. “No one should dare come closer to my sons in the name of love,” the Queen had commanded when Elisa first arrived in the palace. Those words kept repeating themselves in her mind as if they were said that very moment. They sounded heavy with consequence, guiding her every action and decision. Elisa felt trapped in a world of royal expectations and her respect for Hemed. Every day, she worked hard to fulfill her duties, but she longed for a connection that seemed impossible. The palace was both beautiful and confining, a dream that felt like a prison. As she dealt with the complex relationships, her heart ached for the prince who filled her thoughts, but she remained determined to respect the limits placed on her by the Queen. Deep down, both Elisa and Hemed knew there was a strong, unspoken bond between them, even as they avoided discussing it. But what Elisa didn’t know was that, the Prince was just a playboy who always wanted to play with young and beautiful girls in and around the palace just like her. As the sun began to set, there was a hushed whisper that filled the air. The maids, busy with their daily chores, couldn't help but share their thoughts on the arrival of a certain guest. "Hmmm," one of them sighed dreamily, "he is breathtakingly handsome!" "The most handsome man I have ever seen in my life, who could be the lucky girl?" Said another as Margie kept quiet and silently watched Elisa's every move. The words spoken caught the attention of Elisa, who had heard rumors about the famous Prince Rivers, but she never imagined he would be as good-looking as they claimed. Intrigued by their gossip, she listened intently to the conversation unfolding before her. Margie suddenly, noticed Elisa's distraction and couldn't help but taunt her, "What are you thinking about, Elisa? Are you even listening? You better be careful, new girl. Don't forget you're just a newcomer here. Don't let your fantasies get the best of you, or you might regret the day you set foot in this palace, once you find yourself out there in the streets." Elisa was lost in her own thoughts, she didn't even process Margie's spiteful remarks. Her mind was consumed by the advances of Prince Hemed earlier on. He had been pursuing her relentlessly, showering her with gifts and promises. But Elisa knew better than to fall for his charms and was already planning her escape from the palace. Unaware of the conversation around her, Elisa remained silent, determined to focus on her own plans. She knew that Margie's words held a grain of truth. Her lowly background and lack of social standing made her vulnerable, and she couldn't afford to make any missteps. Fed up with Margie's taunting, Elisa finally spoke up, her voice filled with defiance, "I know what you're up to Margie. You're just trying to sabotage my work, aren't you? Well, guess what? I won't let you succeed. I trusted you, but now I see your true colours. I am leaving this palace immediately." With her decision made, Elisa swiftly made her way to her quarters, her steps filled with determination. She had no intention of staying in a place where she was constantly belittled and manipulated. As she walked through the main doors, her eyes caught sight of the guest in the living room. A wave of curiosity washed over her as she wondered if this could be the guest that the queen had mentioned earlier that day. The man standing there exuded an air of elegance and charm, his presence captivating her. "Could he be the one?" Elisa whispered to herself, her heart yearning for a love that matched the beauty she saw before her. In that moment, she couldn't help but compare him to Prince Hemed, who was just a playboy and whose charms paled in comparison. As she stood in a quiet place where she will have a clear view of the living room, Elisa's heart was filled with a whirlwind of emotions as she took in the stunning guest. “I never imagined my life would take such an unexpected turn,” she murmured softly to herself, her thoughts racing. The burden of her responsibilities pressed heavily upon her, yet the magnetic allure of the striking prince was almost impossible to resist. The idea of remaining in the palace to continue working in her position, and endure Marggie’s relentless teasing, felt overwhelming. However, the presence of the handsome mysterious young man who had just arrived in the palace, made her feel brave and confident. She couldn’t allow this chance to slip away without at least trying to know more about him. “What am I going to do with my life now?” Elisa whispered to herself as she stood quietly near the kitchen, her heart was heavy with uncertainty and a whirlwind of emotions. Margie, had always been her fiercest rival. With her sharp tongue and cunning ways, she had made it her mission to undermine Elisa whenever an opportunity arose. It was no secret that Margie despised her for the position she held, and now, with the news of Elisa’s plans to leave the palace, she had a new weapon to wield against her. Elisa felt a sense of defeat wash over her. Out of anger, she had earlier made her plans known to Margie. “When did I become so weak? When did I start to doubt my own strength and resolve?” She pondered the weight of her thoughts. Just as she looked across the living room, her gaze landed on the guest who had just entered the palace. He was strikingly handsome, with an air of confidence that made her heart flutter. In that moment, Elisa made a silent vow to herself: “I will not let Margie’s jealousy or my own fears dictate my future. I will stay put, to find my footing in this world right here in the palace, and perhaps even get to know this charming guest.” She was determined to find her sense of purpose again.Elisa took a deep breath and made her way to the living room. She had a duty to fulfill as the maid in charge of the royal family, and she was always alert to the needs of the household. With each step she took, she reminded herself of her commitment to her role, her responsibility to the Queen, and the importance of her presence in the palace.
