Chapter 2 : First day in the Palace.

Elisa had no idea that behind the prince’s seemingly charitable gesture, lay hidden motives. Prince Hemed, known for his playboy reputation, had visualized how Elisa’s presence in the palace was going to be a mere amusement. He appeared thrilled as he drove the car for hours in silence, which filled Elisa's heart with fear and anxiety.

Finally, she breathed a sigh of relief when she saw a signpost that read, "King Brentwood's Palace." As they drove through the palace gates, her heart raced with a blend of excitement and anxiety. The Prince signaled her to walk hand in hand with him towards the mansion. When she sensed that everyone was watching them, her heart skipped a beat and she started sweating profusely.

The palace was breathtakingly beautiful, and as they stepped inside, the maids began to whisper among themselves. They were all dressed in neat uniforms, standing in a line in honor of the prince's arrival. Their faces showed a mix of surprise and envy because Elisa’s beauty seemed to outshine even the sparkling jewels that decorated the palace.

“Prince Hemed, welcome home sir!” Rosie, one of the maids, exclaimed, her voice bright and sincere. Marggie, who stood next to her, repeated the same same words, but her tone revealed her jealousy. The prince noticed her reactions and felt a surge of irritation. He turned to them with a stern expression and then gestured for Elisa to follow him into the mansion.

As they entered the mansion, the Queen was seated in a lavish room, engaged in a lively conversation with her daughter Princess Tina. Hemed suddenly approached them and proudly introduced Elisa as a newly hired maid. However, the moment he spoke, the Queen’s expression shifted from pleasant to displeased.

“Who gave you the authority to hire workers for this palace, Hemed?” the Queen inquired, with a sharp and demanding voice.

“It’s a long story mother. Please, don’t worry yourself so much about it right now; I promise to explain everything later.” Hemed replied, attempting to calm the situation. He then looked around and asked, “Where is Jennifer? I need her to assign Elisa duties immediately. Even if she doesn’t meet the expected qualifications, I’ve made up my mind to hire her anyway. She truly needs this job mother, and if there's any other question, it will be answered later.” The Prince authoritatively remarked as everyone kept quiet without saying a word.

Known for her obedience, Jennifer the house manageress quickly complied with the Prince's request. She led Elisa through the palace, showing her one of the empty rooms where she would be staying. It was a beautiful space that made her feel a sense of belonging wash over her. Jennifer also provided her with a set of new uniforms. When Elisa tried them on, she looked elegant and poised, standing out in a way that made her feel special.

The high ceilings, hanging lights, and intricate decorations in the palace left her wondering. After settling in, Jennifer warmly guided her to the kitchen, where she assigned her various tasks to complete. She eagerly jumped into her work with a remarkable speed that impressed the manager. It didn’t take long for her to notice Elisa's exceptional skills and efficiency.

“Would you mind serving the royal family their four o'clock tea?” Jennifer asked, her eyes full of approval. She wanted to find out if Elisa was good enough to take Mary's role in serving the royal family. Elisa accepted the task with excitement, eager to showcase her abilities.

When the time came, she entered the royal sitting room with the tea tray in hand. As she served them, the room was filled with admiration. Everyone watched in awe at how gracefully she moved and perfectly handled the delicate teacups. The royal family seemed to appreciate her efforts by smiling at her, which was really encouraging.

Elisa rose up early every morning, as the first rays of sunlight streamed through the window. She felt her heart filled with warmth, as she diligently focused on her duties without needing any supervision.

This sense of responsibility was instilled in her during her time at her aunt’s house, where she managed all the household chores, from preparing delicious meals to sweeping the floors and handling the laundry. She was a devoted young woman with dreams who embraced each task with grace and care and was determined to make a difference.

After a few days of working alongside her, Jennifer felt confident enough to leave Elisa handle the duties on her own. She was so impressed by Elisa’s commitment and work ethic, unlike other maids who often wasted time in idle gossip.

Elisa possessed a heart as pure as gold and as days went by, dedication to her responsibilities did not go unnoticed by King Brentwood and his beloved queen but they didn't reveal it to anyone. They soon grew fond of her, appreciating her gentle nature and the lovely smile that filled her face. In a household full of other maids, Elisa always stood out because of her captivating character that captured the hearts of all who resided within the Palace.

Beyond her responsibilities, Elisa was a devoted young woman with dreams that reached far beyond the confines of her daily chores.
