Chapter 143

953 Words
Griffin’s POV Mia is bent down to an empty coffin. A coffin I was supposed to be in. A f*****g coffin that was supposed to go into the ground and keep my family safe. And here I stand far away watching my family grieve, crying for a man who has done nothing but cause pain in their lives. How do you f*****g justify that? How do you go from killing them slowly to be working for the FBI? I guess being a Baker always comes with a price? I hope Rosie will grow up knowing that her father loved her and maybe one day, I can return to them and we could all be safe and be a family. Dawn held Rosie close to her chest, even though you could see she was falling apart. Mia can bearly keep her eyes open with all the crying, and the rest that’s at the funeral is just there for the news. The great almighty Mr Baker finally got what he deserved. Watching the love of my life break down yet again wants me to walk up to her and tell her that I’m here, but that means that I would just go back to jail, and Mia and Rosie will be in danger all over again. “Come, Mr Baker. We have a lot to discuss.” the Sargent padded me on the back and escorted me to the car. I looked back one more time before I climb into the car. “I love you. I love both of you. I will see you soon.” I whispered before I got into the car. “I never took you for someone being soft, I mean you are a Baker.” the Sargent speaks out. “I’m not soft, yeah when it comes to my family, I am, but don’t take me for a pushover. We had a deal. I will help you expose the drug heist and then I’m a free man.” the Sargent nodded and took me to a safe location where we could work. “So here’s how it’s going to work. Most often, of course, undercover operations are used to gather evidence on specific crimes, to prevent criminals who may plan a crime and to promote the making of charges and seizures. The vast majority of police undercover investigations today involve criminal drugs activity. You will go undercover and tell these people that you are ready to take your father’s business to another level. Get them drawn out and expose them one by one, but remember we need the main brain to be caught.” the Sargent explained. “Listen, I know I’m working for you now, but let’s get one f*****g thing straight if I go in as undercover for my father’s crimes, then I need to know exactly what I’m dealing with.” “The Role purpose As an undercover Sherlock, you’ll be assigned with establishing and building relationships with those who have committed crimes to gain information during an investigation.” “Develop a strong cover story, including what you wear to ensure your safety and success of the undercover activities. That would be your role now. For now, we don’t have many clues to where the drugs are being shipped from. All we know is that a few pharmacists are involved and we’ve got about three teenagers last week and nearly 60 that overdosed.” the Sargent explained. I can see why they need these drugs off the streets. This would’ve never bothered me. I myself even had first-hand seeing someone overdose. Well, a few actually, but ever since Rosie got born, my level of feeling guilty changed. I don’t want kids to go through this, especially not while my child is still growing up to be a beautiful young girl. “Okay, where do we start?” “There is a corner in main reef road just across from one of the pharmacists. You will go in as a junky and by drugs, we will analyse the drugs and try to see where they came from if there are any other fingerprints on the drugs, and then we can start tracing these bastards.” The sergeant opened the surveillance of the street where the dealer was standing and showed me exactly how to approach him. I had to change my clothes and look like a street man and a junky. “This is not a double life for you. Griffin died in a prison. For now, you’re a junky. You don’t have a life to go back home to. You only live to catch these criminals, so stay focused.” An unknown woman said. “Excuse me, but who the f**k are you?” everyone around me cleared their throats as if I committed a crime. She walked closer, nearly touching my face with hers. “I’m the boss around here. So your answer to me, and let’s get one thing straight, you might have ruled outside these walls, but this is my territory. If you overstep, I will throw your ass back into jail.” I kept quiet while she still states at me with wicked eyes. “Did you hear me, Mr Baker?” “Loud and clear.” b***h. I silently said in my mind. “Okay, let’s get started, make him look like a junky and get him wired up. I want this operation to run smoothly and catch these drugs before we lose more kids on the streets.” Well, this one is no pushover. She kind of reminds me of my f*****g stepmother. “Let’s go Mr Baker. We have less than an hour before they change locations.”
