"What?" I was taken aback by Margaret's words. I said this after regaining my capacity to talk.
"You heard me right, I want to pay you just to leave us alone." Margaret explained.
"Are you that stupid?" I laughed. "Do you truly believe you could pay me to leave Arthur?"
I couldn't stop giggling, and everyone in the restaurant was staring at me. I wished she was joking, but when I looked at Margaret, she was not amused.
"I'm not joking, Sia," she said as she held out a check. "Set your own pricing."
"No... my love for Arthur has no price, I don't need your money, Margaret," I became serious since I thought she was criticizing me.
I stood up and was about to go when Margaret replied, "Wow, you're really smart, huh?" I'm beginning to like you... Moore, Sia."
