Chapter Eleven: Game of Alpha's

1497 Words
“Alpha Dante” a man ran into Dante’s office, panting hard like a man running to save his life. “What is chasing you man,” Justin asked, surprised at the sudden appearance. The man tried speaking but kept panting. “Cat got your tongue, spill, what’s your report?”Justin queried further, irritated at his silence. “Calm down Justin, obviously, he’s been running here as fast as he could. Have someone get him water.” Dante spoke, holding Justin still. Justin calls the attention of a maid and passes on Dante’s instructions before sitting down. “So now tell us what happened, what got you running all the way here from the outstation work I assigned you.” Dante asked after he had drunk water. “They are attacking tonight, my Lord.” The man replies. “Who attacks?” Justin stood up. “Alpha Leila and her men” “Wow, smart move. If words came out after the attack, she actually planned to strike the day before, I must say, I’m impressed”, Dante soliloquizes, to which Justin nods his head in approval. “I ran over as fast as I could to inform you as soon as I saw her men preparing,” the man added. Dante had attached him to Leila’s pack as soon as he heard there was a pack like that. It was from him he had earlier learnt that Leila was still alive and strong despite his earlier thought that she would stay alive for long after running away from his pack. And to think she was housed by the Vampire Lord himself. “What do we do, Alpha?” the man asked. “First, you will need to disappear. I wouldn’t want her to know you are a spy, at least until we are sure and have conquered them. I do not want anyone to know what the truth is.” “Alright my Lord.” He responds and proceeds to leave the area. “What next Dante?” Justin asked. “We stick to the earlier plan,” Dante responded, and then Mindlinks all his men, informing them of the change and confirming the plan. *** “Alpha, we await your signal,” Kyle informed Leila, whose wolf, Lisa, had started getting edgy as soon as they got close to Dante’s border. It was as though she was very excited and Leila was left wondering if it was because of the battle. “Today we take down the pack that has brought us so much pain, today we regain our pride as werewolves.” Leila began by rousing the morale of her men. “On my count guys, one, two, three, attack” she continued, giving the signal at the top of her voice and the men ran into the battle. They met a few people along the way who acted surprised and scampered for their lives. The few that tried engaging them were injured and tied up. And so Leila advanced with her men closer to the pack house where music seemed to be coming from. On her left and right, people were falling from the blows dealt by her men. Lisa had protested the attack the minute they ran onto the land and when she realised Leila was not listening to her, she had shut herself out of Leila’s mind. Hence, while most people were fighting in their wolf form, Leila fought in her human form. Eventually, Kyle comes next to her in human form just as she gets to the entrance to Dante’s packhouse. The door opened and more werewolves attacked them and fell. True to Leila’s suspicion, they seemed to be celebrating something. In the middle of the room was a surprised Dante, with two women in his arms. It was as though he froze for a while, unsure what to do and Leila found it so amusing that her face lifted into a wicked grin, giving everyone chills. Just as Dante regained control of himself and was made to stand up to fight perhaps, Kyle and another of Leila’s generals tackled him from behind, and then Leila gave the finishing blow, knocking him unconscious. *** “Damn, the girl can throw a punch.” Dante thought to himself, recollecting what had happened as he regained consciousness. “Finally, you decided to join us, welcome your royal majesty” Leila spoke sarcastically, forcing Dante to look at his surroundings. Werewolves lay injured and tied on the ground. There were pack doctors attending to them, checking if any bones were broken or needed readjusting into its place. Justin was equally tied away from him, the guy looked way worse than he expected. “Who are you,” Dante asked as he made an attempt to remove the rope, but the more he struggled, the weaker he became. “Do not bother Alpha, the ropes are laced with silver and designed to cut your skin if you struggle against it.” Justin's mind links to his alpha. “Wow, they really outsmarted us” Dante responds back. “Exactly, I just hope the pretense was worth it.” “Is anyone dead?” Dante probed. He had not felt anyone's death so far, but he needed to confirm, “No, but they are severely wounded,” Justin replied. “It seems they came majorly for you, because they have been focused on ensuring all the wounded men from both sides receive treatment from the pack doctors.” “Thank you Justin…” “Have you finished looking around?” Leila asked, cutting his mind's conversation with Justin off. “Who are you, and what are you doing here?” Dante began. “I do the questioning here, not you.” Leila scolded sharply. “Hahahahahahaha… sorry baby girl, you cannot walk into my territory and demand I play nice. By the way, you made a grave mistake attacking me and my people.” “Yeah, the same mistake you made 5 years ago, but unlike you, I only came as the trouble maker.” “Hmmmm, 5 years ago, there were a number of attacks. Where do you come from?” “You can’t have forgotten your play thing so quickly? Or did my ghost not haunt you in any way?” She responded with sarcasm and disdain, remembering how he had declared her fate that day. “Wow, rumor had it, you were dead in this palace. I even saw your corpse. How are you alive?” Dante said as his face morphed from surprise to curiosity. “Simple, your servants believed what I wanted them to believe. Whatever they did to further fool you is not my cause.” Leila responded, grinning. “What do you want here then? You have already escaped me. Why come?” “For your blood, a man like you should not be kept alive, not after what you have done to the community of werewolves.” “What does a small girl like you know about anything, a piece of advice, nothing is ever as it seems”, Dante said, holding eye contact with a very angry Leila. “She looks so beautiful, even when angry,” he thought to himself. “What do we do with him, Alpha,” Kyle asked Leila. The plan was to kill him, but Leila could not bring herself to do that. She’d rather he died wasting away in the cell, than turning her into a murderer. By Wolf's laws, as long as she had defeated him in this battle, he was no longer Alpha. His people were to obey her as their new Alpha. This was something he could not fight against as the moon goddess herself gave them that law. “Lock him up in the dungeons,” Leila replied. What better way to teach a man a lesson than to do it with one of their best forms of torturing others. “You are making a grave mistake, you should kill me while you have the chance.” Dante spoke up. “Sure I can do that, but I’d rather do it this way, all your life will be spent in that tiny prison cell, with no form of interaction with anybody. I am surely going to enjoy tutoring you and I am sure you will enjoy it too” Leila spoke, smiling wickedly; the sort of smile that gave everyone around them goosebumps, especially those who saw her grin. With that, Leila signaled for him to be taken away, after giving Myles tips on how to tie him up. Dante allowed them to lead him away. Indeed, she was a woman in every right, she had blossomed very well into a beautiful woman. How he would enjoy taking her as his prisoner by the time the table turned. For now, he would allow her to enjoy the victory and even watch her closely.
