Leila lay in the bathtub, steam emanating from it. She was having a good bath, hopefully not her last, but it may just be the only bath for a long time. She needed it to soothe her nerves.
The day had finally arrived. Today she was going to take revenge for all the people Dante and his men had killed in cold blood because of his thirst for power. Leila had gone over their attack strategy for the last time that day. Her men had noticed a security glitch in the northern border of Dante’s packland. This had gone on for 3 days now. It would seem the men in that spot had something to do around that time of the night and so they hoped the same would happen tonight.
However, Leila had never actually fought a war before, so a part of her wondered if she could pull this off. For a minute she allowed the doubt to dwell before finally letting it off her chest.
“No, not today,” she said to herself. “Today we will burn down that evil city that has taken the lands of several packs and scattered families.” she affirmed and took up the glass of champagne beside the tub.
“My lady,” one of her maid servants called while walking into the room, her head bowed.
“What is it Kelly?” Kelly was her favorite maid servant, she was about her age and so Leila sometimes confided in her. For instance, she knew about Lord Bastian’s feelings. Only she could interrupt Leila’s private moments without fear.
“Lord Bastian wants to see you immediately” she replied.
“Okay, let him know, I will be there right away”.
“Alright my lady”, Kelly replied and walked out of the bathroom. She motions to two of the maids in the other room to help dress Leila and then proceeds to tell Bastian's messenger outside that she was coming right away.
“Well, I was going to see him before we leave for the battle. I might as well get it over with sooner rather than later.” Leila thought to herself as her maids dressed her up.
She and Bastian had not met since the day they almost had s*x in his office, three days ago. More like she had decided to avoid him as best as she could. But she could no longer do that since he had already requested for her. Left to her, she would have gone with Kyle to see him, but she was aware that no Werewolf aside from her was allowed into the Vampires' side of town, not to mention entering their courtroom.
The Vampires had been kind enough to allow her to have a pack of her own within their land with the promise that she would vacate it as soon as she conquered her sworn enemy. And Leila had every intention of sticking to all their rules. So far, in the last 3 years, she had started gathering her own men.
She had obeyed those rules to the letter, and any werewolf found by their side would automatically become food for them. So she warned her people away from the area, restricting them to the werewolf part of the land.
“The werewolf is here…” Evile commented as Leila walked past her, nodding her head in greeting.
Her statement causes Leila to pause slightly, but on looking around, Leila realises that she was outnumbered by the Vampires and so continues walking.
“Hahahahaha…, I guess you have finally realised your place, well that's a first.” Evile challenged, causing Leila to pause once again, but this time around, Leila approached her.
“I know you do not like me, Evile, but at this point I wonder exactly what your problem is. I do not think I have ever sought you out since I came here, so I wonder why you are offended, and keep trying to pick a fight with me.” Leila asked, exasperated. The other Vampires, who obviously loved a good show, moved closer.
“You really don’t know?”Evile asked, her voice laced with sarcasm.
“No I do not, so please enlighten me.”
“Bastian.”
“Okay, what happened to him?
“Hufff” Evile exclaimed, clearly annoyed that Leila was feigning ignorance or so she thought.
“No, you’d have to do more than that. What happened to Bastian?”Leila asked.
“He was mine before you came into the picture, I was his favorite…”
“Ha! ha! hahahahaha…”
“You have the nerve to laugh at me! how dare you?” Evile retorts and attempts to slap her, but Leila's reflex was quick to respond, holding Evile’s hands.
“And why on earth do you think you can stop me from laughing,” Leila asked, still holding her hands.
“Now listen, cause I doubt I will have the time to respond to this attitude of yours next time. Mind you, this only shows how immature you are despite living for the past hundred years…”
“What!”
“Yes, you heard me right, as long as I know, I have no interest in your man, not now, and not ever. If you have been blind, I am a werewolf and I know that I am not welcomed by everyone” Leila said, looking at everyone around her.
“I have no intention of taking away the man you love and believe is yours. So you do not have to ever worry about that. Besides, I will be gone soon enough, maybe dead, maybe alive, but gone nonetheless.'' At that, she drops Evile’s hands, smoothes her dress and walks away shoulder raised and proud, anyone seeing her at that moment would have no doubt that she was royalty.
Evile watched as she walked away, her heart full of unresolved grievances. She would have preferred it if Leila had lost control and lashed out at her. Something to make Bastian understand that there was nothing special about her and yet, she had handled her very cleanly and gracefully.
"I'll get you" she growled, her eyes flashing with an evil glint.
