From the moment the doors of his mansion were opened up to welcome him, Dante could tell that something was amiss. From their scathing expressions to their extremely lowered heads, Dante could tell something had happened.
"Am I missing something here or what?" He thought to himself.
Everybody was avoiding his gaze as if they would burst into flames if they caught it. The meeting with the other Alpha was a success...
Or at least that's what he thought. On his way back, an ambush had been laid out for him. Unfortunately, the other Alpha had underestimated him and his warriors, so now he would have to handle the consequences of backstabbing one of the most ruthless Alphas of all the packs.
But before that, he needed a hot bubble bath.
It had been a hectic trip and he needed to unwind, so as his feet slipped into the bubble bath and the sweet scent of lavender filled his nostrils, he thought that it might be more enjoyable to have some company.
"Hey, you," Dante called the maid as soon as he finished with his bath.
"Y-yes, Alpha Dante, Is there anything else I can do?" She stuttered with her eyes on the floor.
"Do you mind bringing that pretty little toy that was brought to me recently?"
Her blue eyes snapped up at him like they were about to pop off their sockets.
"You mean the slave Leila, My Alpha?" He shrugged. "Yeah, I think that's her name. Bring her. I would like some company..."
He paused and then said in a flirty tone, "Unless you wouldn't mind joining me yourself?"
She quickly shook her head. "No...No, but I can't bring her either, My Alpha,"
He sat up on his bed. "Do you mind explaining what you mean by that?"
Her eyes were back on the floor as she continued speaking.
"I mean we were going to tell you but we wanted you to get some rest first and then-"
"What did you want to tell me?" He cut into her words.
She paused for a long time then whispered very softly, "S-she is dead, My Alpha!"
For the longest moment, it seemed that the bedroom was so enveloped by silence that a pin would have dropped and their ears would have caught it with ease.
Dante finished dressing hurriedly as his mind tried to understand how the girl could have died in his territory in less than five days.
"She refused to eat whatever we gave her and eventually she.." His servants started to explain.
After what they told him, he closed the casket with only one comment.
"What a waste," he said with a kiss of his tongue in irritation. "Such a pretty girl but with such a little brain."
He turned to them. "I didn't have to see this, you should have buried her before my return. There was really no point in keeping the corpse."
While he said this, his mind also wondered what had happened exactly. The wolves that got to stay in his mansion were all extremely loyal and important to him. He didn’t think they should kill off a slave just to defy him.
However, he was still quite disappointed that he couldn't spend more time with her. From the first day he had met her in her father’s garden, he had been taken by her. Although young, her beauty was breathtaking. She had the kind of eyes that made a man want to see what they would look like when she was kneeling in front of him naked. Although he hadn’t planned that takeover, having her had been a pleasant turn of events and he had imagined coming home to meet her the whole five days he was gone.
"I feel like she would have been a lot of fun," he sighed as he left the basement.
If he had dug deeper he would have uncovered the truth, the truth of what really happened while he was away. He would have realized that his subordinates were anxious to hide their incompetency from him.
He would have discovered she had been kept in the dungeon, which was different from the instructions he had given them. He might have also discovered that she had been killed off by her own people and not out of starvation.
Only the guards knew it had gone like this…
‘Loud banging on the cell bars had alerted them and the sound of crushing bones.
They rushed over to her but it seemed that they were a little late before they arrived. Leila, was already in a pool of blood after a heated fight with her cellmate.
Not wanting Dante to know how much they neglected their ruthless Alpha's new toy to reach his ears, they quickly searched for a corpse that had died in its wolf form and, with the real corpse of Leila, they disposed of her like trash for the wild animals to feast on in the woods.

“Finally!” Leila sighed as she slumped against a tree branch. After running from there, her body covered in blood and slime, she had been lucky to find a stream to wash up. However, she couldn’t slack yet. Who knew what could happen if Dante’s men went out to clean up her body and found her gone. She would never get another chance after this and she couldn’t ruin her only chance.
She took a ten-minute rest before breaking into a run as she swapped her skin for fur, with her clothes in her mouth, she ran through the forest that separated her pack from other ones.
With her being in her wolf form, which Dante’s men had no idea what she looked like, she was more relaxed. Also, she was faster in her wolf form as she covered ground quite quickly.
After a day of running and being certain she was away from Dante’s grounds, Leila stopped to rest. Unfortunately, the moment she changed back to her human form and dressed, she heard sounds of battle from nearby.
Leila peeped out of curiosity while making sure that her petite figure was well hidden behind the tree she had stayed to change. However, the scene of a young girl that seemed nothing more than nine or ten years surrounded by seven men made her unable to stay hidden even while she wondered if she could take on those seven men.
“Stop!” Leila yelled as she ran to them, her anxiety making her miss the look of pure irritation that had been sent her way by the little girl. “How can the whole lot of you gather around one little innocent girl?” she accused as she moved to stand in front of the small girl.
“Who are you?” one of them asked arrogantly, however, there was also a lascivious smile on his face as he took in Leila’s attractive face and still growing body.
“Who I am certainly doesn’t matter. What matters is that, I wouldn’t be letting you touch this girl.” She said arrogantly, knowing that some amount of fake bravado would be important to chase these people off.
Leila turned as she heard the little girl behind her scoff. “Why do you think I need you? I might as well just take you off also” she declared, and at a speed faster than light, she lunged at one of the men in front of them.
In a time that couldn’t be enough to stifle a yawn, she had the man on the floor with a broken neck and wide open eyes. He had definitely not been expecting his death.
By the time Leila looked back at the girl, she realized two more men were already on the floor and her small but agile body was already on the fourth man.
Cold sweat trickled down her back. Should she have just gone her way? There was no way this girl needed help. More importantly, she was a vampire, an unbelievably young vampire who probably hated werewolves.
“Since yo..You don’t need help, I... I will take my leave now” Leila managed to say as she watched the girl dust her hand and all seven men gone.
“And who told you I had any intention of letting you go?” she asked cockily as her grin widened at Leila's frightened appearance. “I know you are a shifter and I have every intention of taking you out also” she said, chuckling as she watched Leila back off until her back hit a tree.
The girl was taking little steady steps towards her and her heart was racing even more than before. She prepared to shift when the wind whipped in her direction as the girl dashed towards her and-
"Okay that's enough...I can't get a wink of sleep," a voice said from above and Leila watched as the little girl’s glowing eyes calmed down and came to a normal tone. She glanced up to see who had spoken and her eyes widened as a man floated from the top of the tree.
"My Lord!" The young girl said as she knelt.
"Please forgive me! The presence of those filthy cockroaches was...unexpected," she added hurriedly, her eyes worried and fearful adding to Leila’s worry. If this little devil was scared…..
"Well, and so was hers..." came the man's voice. It was velvety, with this bedroom hint.
"It seems like you were here to lend a hand..." He sniffed the air around her. "...or a paw, but why?"
"You better not lie to my Lord," The little girl cut in a voice that was in between a hiss and a groan.
"She doesn't look like the lying type," He swept aside a curtain of her hair to see her eyes without any obstruction. "She's far too pretty for that..."
"Humph, my Lord, don't forget that she is still a werewo-my Lord, what are you doing?!"
The male with the velvet voice stood up. "Is that really so important right now?"
He said as he tightened his hold on her. "She fainted..." He said as he felt Leila’s body go limp in his arms.
"She looked like she was running a marathon and didn't hesitate to come over when she thought someone was in danger," He held Leila closer to his chest.
"I think I'm going to keep her."
"But my L-lord..."
"No, but...let's go back to the mansion, she needs some rest..."
