When You Are Alive There is Still a Hope

Chapter 3

***** In hospital*******

When Alpheos opened his eyes, he was a bit confused because he was not familiar with the surrounding environment. The smell of medicine and small bed that was not comfortable as his bed at home. He looked at his surrounding but still a bit confused maybe it was due to injection, not figured out where he was. He tried to get up but he felt so immense pain in such a way he started to sweat. Soon he recalled the incident but he ignored the pain because he was worried about his wife, his freind and the girl he saved. He got worried about the thug he beated because he didn't know whether he killed him or what. He remembered that his wife doesn't know what happened to him. She must be worried sick about him. He searched the phone on the drawer near him and found it but his phone was out of battery. "s**t, where is James?" He cursed in a low voice.

" Your lioness has been calling nonstop but I couldn't answer it because I didn't know what I would say to her".

That was James entering the ward. He breathed a sigh of relief when he saw his good freind awake.

" Why didn't you inform her? Are you looking for death..she must be worried sick hey?!" Asked Alpheos coldly. He was really dissatisfied by his freind.

" I was trying to protect her because if she knew that you had an accident and injured, she would be running around so she can see you but you know very well that it's not safe to go out at night especially for a woman. We are the witness."

"Yeah if you say so." He calm down a bit "Could you please ask the doctor to discharge me now? I really need my wife now. I know she is going crazy especially she can't find me on the phone."

" Hello no. You can't be discharged now. What if your wound got infected and cause more damage. I am grateful that you are alive but please man don't ever put your life at risk again." Said James with a serious face.

" I miss my wife and I know she is worried sick especially that my phone is off I can't even call her. I don't want her to misunderstand me and this bed is not comfortable".

" My phone is still on you can use my mine first." James handed his phone to Alphoes.

"Thanks man". He sighed.

He took the phone and dial his wife's number soon she picked up

"James is that you, where is my husband? Is he okay? Why you didn't take my calls?" Merry asked anxiously.

"Merry!"

"Alpheos! Is that you? Are you okay? Where are you and why you didn't come back? Why you didn't call me?"

Her mind went blank for a moment, but she was so happy to hear her husband's voice.

"Merry dear! Calm down honey. I am okay now but i am at the hospital. Don't worry I am okay I will come home soon."

" Oh no baby what happened to you? Do you know how worried I am?"

Merry couldn't hold her tears any longer. Her voice was trembling, Alpheos's heart ached, he wished he could rush to her and hug her to assure her that he was fine.

"Don't worry sweetie. Daddy is coming home safe and sound soon okay. Don't cry my love." Alpheos try hard to coax his wife.

"Which hospital are you in..it's already 4:30 AM I couldn't sleep a wink at night."

"No dear it's still early and it's still dark outside. Why don't you rest a bit. I will come home after signing discharge papers."

"How can you expect me to not worry when i already know that you're in hospital.I am not at ease okay".

"Please baby listen to me, I will come home soon okay. Go back to sleep."

Merry took a deep breath and said

" Yeah what you saying makes sense. I will wait for you. Is James okay?"

"Yeah he is fine. Now go back to sleep, I will see you soon hey."

He spoke to his wife in a soft and affectiont one as if nobody was with him on the ward and James was jealous by their flattery in front of him as if he is not existing.

"Okay honey. I will wait for you. I have good news for you."

When Merry heard Alpheos's flattering with her, her panicking heart softened but she was still worried because as far as she knew her husband is healthy and he is not somebody who get sick easily. What the hell happened to him.

"Okay honey..we will talk about it when I come back. Now be a good girl and rest. Don't worry anymore. I am sorry to worry you. My phone has no battery and that is why I am using James's phone."

" Oh i see, I tried calling you but it went straight to voicemail.I will hang up first. See you soon. I love you."

"I love you baby".

After hanging up the phone he breathed the sigh of relief and thanked James.

Soon the doctor was having his morning rounds and came to Alpheos ward, he was so surprised to see that James was still at the hospital.

" Mr James why are you still here? Wooow I am surprised." Said the doctor as he entered the ward.

"Yes doctor I am still here."

"Mr Alpheos you have a good freind indeed. Good morning. How are you feeling now?" He was writing something on his file.

"I am fine now doctor thank you. Could you please discharge me now?"

" No Mr Alpheos I can't discharge you because I still have to observe you since you lost a lot of blood and I still have to treat your wound because it may cause trouble for you if it's not treated properly, your arm may be disabled if we do not take precautions."

" I am really fine doctor, I will come back tomorrow. My wife is worried sick and my phone is off, I left at home for work yesterday and she doesn't know what happened to me."

Alpheos was trying his best to convince the doctor.

"Okay I see. I will proceed with discharge forms but on one condition."

" Yes doc I will listen to you."

"Please don't let you wound touch water and take your medicine on time and please make sure you rest and come back tomorrow for observation. I will write a sick note for you to produce it at work."

" I will make sure of that doc, be rest assured." James chimed in.

The doctor nodded at them and left.

" How can you speak as if you are my wife?" Alphoes's face turned gloomy.

" I am when she is not here because I have been taking care of you hahaha.

Alpheos:...........

"what?" He continued teasing his freind. James was at ease now because he know that his freind is fine.

"Please follow the doctor to continue with the discharge procedures. I will go to a washroom to change into my clothes."

"What a heartless man.!He said that and left. James was a happy soul. He always makes jokes even when Alphoes scold him. When James was done about the procedures he went to collect the medication the doctor prescribed for Alpheos at the hospital's pharmacy. Alpheos was waiting for James after finishing to dress up. James came back and they left the hospital. Alphoes was walking a bit slow because he was in so much pains and has no energy since he lost so much blood last night but he had to endure it and he didn't want make his freind worried. James insisted on sending Alphoes home so he can rest assured.

At some point Alpheos was grateful to James. Yeah ever since they were young James was always considerate. Even though he always make jokes and doesn't take anything serious, he loved him as his brother. He would be bored to death without James's craziness.
