MATE BONDS

I was led to an old stone cathedral and it was made of whitewashed stone that did make it look like an ivory tower. My room was towards the back behind a stone staircase that spiraled up to the second and third floors. There was a tower and the door to that was locked. “Only the elites can come and go from there. Their playthings have access as well.” I glanced at the door again and saw the keypad etched into the wall as well. Shuddering I followed Sebastian into what was now my room. “So what do you think?” It was a little more luxurious than my room at home and I was not used to having so many fancy gadgets. There was a sleek laptop on a dark walnut desk pushed up against a window, a giant flat screen tv, and a small kitchenette with top of the line coffee maker. a crystal chandelier hung from the ceiling casting rainbows all over the room. A chair and couch with a coffee table sat by the television and the biggest bed I have ever seen was front and center against the far wall. “That is the biggest bed I have ever seen. I don’t understand why you would need one that big.” I forgot that Sebastian was in the room but I could feel his presence come closer. “Want to take it for a test drive?” He was so close I could feel his breath tickle my ear. Why yes, I certainly did want to try the bed out. I was getting ready to answer him when the door slammed open and the leather-clad girl from before stood in the doorway glaring at Sebastian. “For crying out loud Maggie you’re going to cause me to have a raging case of blue balls if you keep c**k blocking me like this.” She glared at him again and I stood awkwardly watching the show trying not to let my eyes wander to the obvious bulge in Sebastian’s pants. “You, come with me.” She snapped her fingers at me and I scowled, that was rude. “I’m not a dog.” She sighed and stood tapping her foot impatiently. “Yes, but you’re so turned on right now that I can smell it from here now let’s go you have to get to the MATE BOND 101 class.” I started laughing and realized she was serious. “Why? I don’t plan on following through with any mate bonds.” I glanced at Sebastian who was looking quite satisfied with himself. “You are almost eighteen, right? So right now the chemicals flooding your body are confusing you and making it seem like you want to jump anything. Including my i***t brother there.” That was like a splash of cold water on my flaming loins. Or was it? I tilted my head and stared at the petite woman whose hair was in long braids and flowed down her back. It was done in one of those elaborate styles that I have only seen in Chinese dramas. “Why are you looking at me like that? Sebastian, why is she looking at me like that?” Oh, she was so cute when she was nervous and she was blushing too. “I do believe she is quite smitten with you. Normally I am down with a three-way new girl but that is my sister so eww gross.” He pushed me towards his sister and left the room to probably take care of the bulge in his pants. I sighed and followed her to my first class. I didn’t want to learn about mate bonds, what did I care? If my mates were at this school there was no way in Hell I was going to stay around and be shackled to some stranger. I mean if it were Sebastian or even his sister, I’m sure I can make an exception to my rule. Of course, I would still run as far away from here as I could. Maggie followed me into the classroom and I was surprised by how many students were seated and waiting for the instructor. I found a seat by the door and expected Maggie to leave but she sat down next to me and fiddled with her phone. “You’re taking this class as well?” She nodded and then sighed. “Anyone who has a birthday within the next few weeks is in this class, the instructor will go over what to expect and what our bodies are going through.” I tuned her out as the instructor walked in and I knew it was going to be a class that I should have skipped. The woman looked like a Stevie Nicks wannabe, and let’s face it, no one will ever be as cool as Stevie Nicks. I glanced around to see if Hana was in class and saw the four jackasses from earlier. The Alpha’s sons were here. Oddly I thought they were already at the age to have mates. I felt Axel’s eyes on me and flipped him off. I saw his lips twitch and I thought I was actually going to see him smile. “Good afternoon class welcome to mate bonds.” She started and then had a dreamy look on her face. Oh barf. “Now you may think what you feel towards another person is a mate bond, but there is nothing compared to the mate bond.” I half listened, she droned on about how our hormones were going to be raging and a bunch of other information I didn’t care about. “How about if your mate is already eighteen and you are not eighteen yet? Do they feel the bond and just have to hide it in case you reject them?” I glanced at the girl who asked the question and she was holding hands with a boy who looked like he hadn’t hit puberty yet. “Very good question Miss Chase. How that works is that if you or your mate has not reached the appropriate age yet, their part of the mate bond will not be activated until their mate turns eighteen.” I tried to hold in a groan, I would prefer to be back in my room exploring Sebastian. “How do you know if you met your mate?” The teacher clasped her hands together and that was when I checked out mentally. Again, why did I care? I was long gone when I turned eighteen. Besides I would be rejected anyway, no one wants a wolf with crazy in her background. Class finally ended and I was allowed to go back to my room. I wanted to curl up in that bed and sleep. I was going to have to call Sally and have her bring my few meager belongings to the school. I noticed Maggie was following me and I watched her out of the corner of my eye. She was looking behind her and all around us. “Do you live in the Ivory Tower as well?” She stared at me. “I’m an Elite as is Sebastian but he slums it with the peasants such as yourself.” Well now, she wasn’t quite endearing herself to me. “Well isn’t that nice for you. I need to call Sally and have her send my things.” She laughed and I narrowed my eyes at her. “Oh, that’s cute, since you’re in the Ivory Tower you are the property of the Elites. Your stuff won’t be coming we supply everything you need.” She tossed her hair over her shoulder and walked past me in a huff. Damn, rich kids and their entitled bullcrap. I turned on my heel and walked towards the office, maybe I could get my room changed after all. I wasn’t anyone’s property and as much as I might enjoy sharing quarters with Sebastian, I will not be treated like a pampered house pet.
