Chapter Two

Ava's P.O.V The walk back to the pack house was nice. My mom was asking me about my party and my dad said he had invited several other packs to my party. Tomorrow I will have to stand with my parents, not just as their daughter, but as the Alpha and Luna's prized daughter and representative of the Blood Heart Pack. When we finally reached the house, I ran up the stairs and up to my room and crashed onto my bed and almost instantly fell into a deep sleep. The sound of my alarm pulled me from my sleep and I looked at the time. 9:30am. I got up and went to my bathroom to shower and freshen up and get ready for the day. I left my room and headed downstairs, making my way to the kitchen. I could smell my mom's pancakes; blueberries and strawberries with maple syrup and whipped cream on top of confetti birthday cake-flavored pancakes. She has made them every year on all of our birthdays. I sat down next to Theo while mom sat my plate in front of me. I was about to ask my dad if I could invite a few of the omegas to the party when mom handed me a small stack of invitations to pass out. They knew I was friends with almost everyone in the pack, and I always tried to make them feel welcomed and equal. I smiled at her and started eating my food. I absolutely loved these breakfasts. While we were all sitting and eating, my dad told me the alphas and members from other packs would be here shortly before lunch. I got up and went to pass out the invitations to the omegas and then returned to the front porch to stand with my mom and dad. I rocked the pack colors purple and red. It was only a few minutes before we heard the horns from the front gate blare notifying us that our guest was arriving. The omegas arrived in a line to take keys from the cars that arrived so they could take them and park them in their reserved parking spot. The first car that pulled up had alpha Lyn Black of Blackfoot Pack and his sister Jane, who was one of my best friends. Three of the cars that followed behind were full of unmated pack members. The second group that arrived contained alpha Dean Hough of Hide Pack, along with his two brothers who were unmated. Along with two cars full of unmated pack members. The next group was Alpha Joe Moule and his Luna May of Silver Dream Pack, who is mine and Janes best friend. After seeing me and Jane standing to the side, may gave us a knowing smile. The three peas in a pod are back again. We stood around and waited for the others to show up, but I had to excuse myself for a few minutes, causing me to miss two of the packs' arrival. When I returned, I smelled the most amazing smell: chocolate and blueberries. I looked around but couldn't spot anything. While greeting the rest of the guests, who were just members of the packs whose alphas were busy or already mated. When it was time for lunch, I sat in the dining hall next to my brothers when I started smelling that smell again. Still with no clue where it was coming, I finished my lunch and headed to the omega wing on the second floor with Jane and May, who had always seen omegas the same way I did. As we made our way up the stairs, the smell I smelled earlier had returned and it was getting stronger. I slowly broke away from the girls and started following the smell, and it led me to the fourth floor. I walked down the hall and the smell was so strong, I stopped outside my brother Wyatt's office. I knocked on the door and waited for him to call me in. As I opened the door, the smell came full force and slapped me in the face. I stood there looking around the room. When our eyes locked, I felt a part of me melt away. I took an unsteady step into the office when my brothers all stood and rushed to me, seeing that I was acting weird. I looked at the man sitting on the left side of the room. He was the beta to one of the smaller packs that came without their pack. He looked at me, stood up and walked to me, pulled me out and walked me to the first floor to the guest wing and pulled me into his room. We stood there in silence for a minute before the words that crushed me fell from his mouth. "I am so sorry to do this, but I have a chosen mate, and she is carrying my pups. I will not abandon her. I Beta Jason of mountain water pack reject you Ava of the Blood Heart Pack, as my mate." I stumbled back and almost fell down. I stood for a minute before I accepted his rejection. I turned and walked out and up to my room in a daze. Jane and May followed me in and watched as I walked to the window where I caught a glimpse of him leaving with his bags. My brothers all ran into my room asking me what was going on. So I said the only thing I could before I fell and blacked out: "He rejected me."
