Danny stepped into the room. Stella was already awake, sitting quietly on her bed.
“Good morning,” he greeted.
“Good morning.” She whispered back.
He cleared his throat. “I brought you some clean clothes. Take a shower and join me for breakfast.”
She nodded in silence.
Danny turned and left the room, heading upstairs to the kitchen.
He started making breakfast. A few minutes later Stella showed up, freshly showered, wearing his shirt and a pair of sweatpants.
Without a word, she pulled a chair and sat down. Danny handed her a plate and a cup of coffee.
“Thank you,” she murmured.
They ate in silence.
