Ezekiel stood at the other side of the hall watching her closely. Ever since the dean mentioned the fresher test, she has been so shifty and fidgety. Is she scared? Or is it probably because she's a low born?
He can't help but say he feels pity for her because surviving in this academy is the number one thing, but for someone like her, it's going to be so tough. Even people from high ranks suffer a lot, not to talk of a lowborn.
But there's one thing he still doesn't understand: the academy has never accepted lowborns before. The lowest from the werewolf set are the omegas, so why is one without no wolf or skill being accepted? It's more like inviting a deer into a lion's den.
And Cersei was already about to feast on her so quickly that something in him forced him to intervene and take her out from there; else she wouldn't have been sitting here in this hall.
He stared at her for long, focusing his gaze on her, and then Lyra tilted her head sideways, and they once again locked gazes.
Neither of them looked away, eyes locked with minds going wide.
"Zeke, something's up?" Someone whispered in his ears, and he gave one long glance at her before leaving the hall, and Lyra's eyes followed him until he was out.
'How long has he been staring at her?' She wondered inwardly.
She immediately brushed it off and started thinking of how to handle the situation.
The dean kept talking over and over, and then he left the stage, and a female student stepped on the stage.
She also carried the same standard that Cersei had, and her beauty was top-notch as well, but she isn't going to praise either of these girls again because they're all beasts in an angel form.
"Hello everyone!" She waved at the crowd brightly.
"Hello senior Marissa!!" Everyone responded cheerfully.
"I'm so grateful to stand here and speak to you all, and I'm eagerly awaiting for tonight's freshers tests. It's always a blissful sight to watch as they all showcase their strength and skills, and I'm here to tell you all that you can do it, and I hope you all have worthy powers, unlike Lina Volkov, wishing you all the best and goodluck!" With that, she climbed down the stage, and everyone started clapping happily.
Lyra hit her forehead, a frown coming across her face. What the hell do these godforsaken seniors actually want from her? All her plans of keeping her head low for the first few days before anyone noticed her as the lowborn among them have been ruined, all thanks to this announcer that she didn't hire.
"The announcement is over; the freshers should go prepare for tonight!!" Someone announced, and everyone started departing.
Lyra stood up and started dragging herself out of the hall.
"Out of my way, lowborn!" Someone pushed past, almost sending her down, but she held her ground.
The game just began for her.
"Hi!" A girl immediately links her hands with Lyra, and she frowns, almost pushing her away.
"Relax, I'm not your enemy. I'm Iris by name, and I'm your roomie!" She introduced herself with a smile on her face"
"My roomie?" She asked confusedly.
"Yes I'm in room 107 along with you, so that makes me your roomie" She smiled, and Lyra only stared at her suspiciously.
"I don't mean any harm, Lina. I'm also a low rank like you, and I know after these tests, when everyone's powers are being tested, they're going to start treating us badly, but I'm already scared for you because the tests haven't begun and everyone immediately knows about you and your identity…." Iris said, sounding worried, and Lyra only sighed.
Yes, she's quite right about that. Everyone already knows her as a lowborn, and this girl, even if her wolf isn't active at the moment, she isn't actually getting a bad feeling from Iris, so it's not wrong keeping her close as a friend but not too close.
"Let me tell you something, someone already informed the student body that a lowborn from Moonlight Pack was coming here, and that's how they all know about you even before you came and introduced yourself," Iris whispered softly so only Lyra could hear her, and she frowned hard.
This might be her stepmother's work; she's the only one cunning enough to do such a thing, and she will also make her pay for it.
"Let's head to our dorm!" Iris held her hands and pulled her along, and she followed.
They stepped into their rooms, and she was surprised to see her luggage in the center of the room.
'Who sent them here?' She wondered but didn't ponder over it before she started arranging her things.
"Everyone out, it's time for your tour!!" Someone shouted loudly, and they both walked out of their rooms.
Lyra immediately recognized her as one of Cersei's minions, and she wondered where Cersei was. She thought she was responsible for the tour.
They joined other freshers, and the tour started. They walked around the academy, being shown and exposed to the academy, and Lyra found herself enjoying it.
Soon it ended, and everyone headed back to their rooms. The sky became dark, and something dreadful hit Lyra.
"It will all be okay; you don't have to worry!" Iris said with a reassuring smile as she sat on her bed.
"You said you're a low rank, right? What species are you?" Lyra asked out of curiosity.
"Don't worry, Lina, you will know soon. For now, let's just rest our bodies because we might need it later" Iris smiled before lying on the bed.
Lyra stared at her for a brief moment before also lying down; something deep is making her scared, not for her just something else.
She closed her eyes and soon drifted off to sleep.
*
Soon she felt a hand coming around her neck, and she frowned a bit before brushing it off, but then the hand tightened hard around her neck, strangling her hard.
She immediately shut her eyes opened and saw a girl staring down at her coldly, with one hand on her neck.
"What the hell!!"
