From Google Earth, which I checked before setting out, the back of the house overlooked the green of one of the nicest and most exclusive private courses in town. That hole, a par three over water, was known as one of the most dramatic in town. In the back of my mind, I fantasized about playing that course with my new father-in-law. The long circular drive took me right up to the front door. I sat there, gathering my thoughts and courage. Taking a deep breath, I went up to the porch and rang the bell.
