when heart take shape chapter 1
Chapter 1: A Chance Encounter The late afternoon sunlight spilled across the cobblestone streets of the city, painting the cafes and boutiques in a warm golden glow. Elina Carter hurried along, her sketchbook clutched under her arm, trying not to be late for a last-minute meeting with a new client. She barely noticed the people bustling past her, lost in thoughts about deadlines and color palettes. “Excuse me!” a voice called, startling her. Elina glanced up to see a young man weaving through the crowd with a camera hanging from his neck. He bumped lightly into her shoulder, and her sketchbook slipped from her hands, tumbling to the ground. “Oh no! I’m so sorry!” he exclaimed, bending down to help her gather her scattered papers. His deep blue eyes met hers, and for a brief moment, the world seemed to slow. “It’s okay,” Elina said, feeling her cheeks warm. She quickly picked up her sketches, noticing how effortlessly he handed them back to her, his hands brushing against hers. “I should watch where I’m going,” he said with a lopsided smile, running a hand through his tousled dark brown hair. “I’m Lucas, by the way.” “Elina,” she replied, still slightly flustered. “Elina Carter.” Lucas tilted his head, studying her with a curious, amused look. “A designer?” he asked, noticing her sketchbook filled with colorful, detailed drawings. “Yes,” she said, surprised by his interest. “Graphic design.” “Wow,” he said softly. “That’s impressive. You have real talent.” Elina’s heart fluttered at the compliment, and she quickly looked away, pretending to adjust her bag. “Thanks,” she murmured. For a moment, there was silence, only the distant hum of the city around them. Then Lucas spoke again. “You know, I’ve been trying to capture moments like this with my camera, but somehow meeting you just now feels like a scene I couldn’t photograph.” Elina blinked, caught off guard. His words weren’t cheesy—they felt genuine. “I… I guess we both like capturing things in our own ways,” she said, managing a small smile. Lucas grinned. “Exactly. Maybe one day, you could show me some of your designs, and I could show you my photos. A creative exchange.” She hesitated, then found herself nodding. “That… sounds nice.” As the sun dipped lower behind the buildings, casting long shadows, Elina realized that this chance encounter might be the beginning of something unexpected. Something warm. Something worth exploring. And as Lucas waved goodbye, promising they’d meet again soon, Elina felt a flutter of anticipation she hadn’t felt in a long time. Chapter 1 ends
