Chapter 1 - Welcome home.
I laid basking in the sun light. Suddenly my light was obstructed by something. I opened one eye and set my sight on my brother, Barion.
"May I help you?" I said and he crossed his arms.
"I've been sent to fetch you." He said sternly.
"Well tell dad if he wants me to come to the party, he can come fetch me." I closed my eyes and returned to basking.
"Josh, come on. Im not getting dad. If I go back in there with out you, mom will be the one that comes. Dad says he can't protect you this time." Barion watched as I pushed myself up.
"What's mom going to do? Punish me in front of her subjects?" I said coldly.
"She told me I could use force this time." Barion snickered and lifted his hand. He started lightly pushing me with his wind magic.
"Fine your majesty. I'm getting up." I jumped up and dusted myself off.
"Don't call me that." Barion said walking in front of me back to the house.
"Well that's why you're leaving isn't it? To take dads place?" I said following him.
“I'm leaving for training to do that, yes. You know I have to go to Eclipse to do that.” Barion turned to me. “Unless you want to take dads place?" Barion smiled and poked me a few times in the side.
"You're also a prince are you not?" Barion teased.
“Yeah right. All moms ever talked about was her pride and joy taking dads place.” I said as Barion opened the door. The room was filled with guests and I walked in reluctantly. It took no time to be spotted.
“Joshy you decided to finally join us?” Mom said hugging me.
“I asked you to not call me Joshy in front of people.” I looked over. “Uncle Arnold.” I nodded.
“You know the boy has asked you several times Hannah.” Uncle Arnold said before looking at me. “Josh, you should be here to celebrate and say good bye to Barion. He won’t be gone long, but he’s doing something important and could use your support.” Uncle Arnold smiled at me and I just stared at him until my mom nudged me.
“Yeah yeah. Where’s Andy?” My best friend, uncle Arnold’s son.
“Guess.” Uncle Arnold pointed past me to a group of people. Andy stood next to my little sister Lydia. Andy grew up with us, because Uncle Arnold went where ever we did. Him and Aunt Shay always by moms side. Andy seemed to have some idea that he had to protect my sister as well. It didn’t sit well with me. To my shock Lydia was talking to Daisy Shore.
“Ugh, I’m not going over there.” I said looking back at my mom and crossing my arms.
“What’s wrong with Daisy? She’s so sweet. She had such a crush on Bari when they were little.” My mom gushed too Uncle Arnold who just nodded.
“Where’s dad?” I asked and mom looked at me.
“Him and your Uncle are going over stuff in Uncle James’s office.” Mom said annoyed. Work followed dad everywhere we ever went.
“He’ll be back soon Hannah. He’s not going to miss saying goodbye to his son.” Uncle Arnold said.
“You’re right.” Mom smiled.
“Josh why are you standing over here?” I heard Andy and I turned.
“I didn’t feel like messing with Daisy.” I said and Andy laughed.
“That was years ago! Come on, I told her you were here.” Andy grabbed my arm and I let him drag me over. Daisy looked over and saw me. She smiled and turned completely facing me. Lots of people loved Daisy. She was perky and blonde, but to me she was alway going to be the girl that wrestled me to the ground all the time. Squeeze me into a pretzel until I cried and her dad pulled her off me.
“Joshy!!!” Daisy ran over in what I thought was going to be a hug. She grabbed my arm and held it behind me. She twisted it, held it up against my back, and laughed. “Say uncle just like old times.” She smirked.
“Uncle! UNCLE!” I yelled and she dropped my arm.
“Weeeaaaakkkk!” She said punching my arm she just twisted.
“I’m so glad to be home.” I sarcastically said as Lydia walked over and started healing my arm.
“Welcome home Joshy.” Daisy whispered in my ear as she jabbed her fingers in my side.
“Just ignore her Josh.” Lydia said healing my side.
“Thanks Lydia. I just don’t understand why we all had to come here. The rain season is going to start soon.” I complained.
“Josh it’s always rain season here.” I heard a almost chuckling laugh.
“Hi Henry.” I said as he slapped me on the back. Henry was my cousin and Uncle James’s son.
“How are my favorite cousins! Finally home to stay. Are you ready to start training?” He said looking at me and I sighed.
“If I have to.” I said crossing my arms.
“It’s a honor to be selected you know?” Henry said to me. I had been selected as the next Beta of Silvermoon. The current Beta’s son Liam Shore pulled himself off the list. He wanted to follow my brother Barion to White Eclipse. I had wished I could do the same thing.
“Andy! Your birthday is coming up isn’t it?” Henry said putting his arm around me.
“Yes! It’s two weeks away!” Lydia said as she smiled at him.
“Eighteen is a big age man! Thinking about if you find your mate?” Henry asked punching Andy’s shoulder. Henry was the same age as Barion. Still hadn’t met his mate, but we all knew he secretly loved Daisy.
“Somewhat.” Andy smiled but didn’t dare meet any of our eyes. Ever since Lydia was born, Andy rarely left her side. The adults thought it was cute like he was following in his dads footsteps trying to protect her. Just then we heard someone calling for attention. We turned to see my family’s loyal attendant Jensen called for people to look at my parents.
“ATTENTION!” Everyone turned to Jensen. “His and her majesty would like to say a few words.” Jensen stepped aside. My dad put his arm around my mom.
“We wanted to thank everyone who came to celebrate our home coming and the beginning of our son Barion Fenrich Jr.‘s journey to taking over as King. We wish you luck son!” My dad’s words rang over the crowd and people began to clap. I stood there with my arms crossed.
“You’re pouting.” I heard Andy say in my ear. I rolled my eyes and left.
