CHAPTER 1
Ava emptied the whole content of the whiskey in the glass at once, allowing it burning sensation gush down her throat. The amber liquid gave her a short break for the loneliness that was always with her for the past few days. Here she was in a night club dancing and drinking herself to stupor. This was the first time she had been to a place like this. She wasn't the outing type but she was unable to handle the heart break left by my child hood lover.
"One more shot please" she signalled the bar tender for another drink. "Yes mam" the bar tender lived up to his name attending to her request swiftly. She looked around the club, different people laughing, chatting and enjoying without any care. A feeling of loneliness and bitterness twisted in her guts, but at this stage she no longer care.
She had drank up to 4 bottles of beer but the feeling from the heart break was yet to go away. She felt more drinks will do the trick and wash them all away. A memory flashed as she remember Josh's cold words. "Chloe Foster and I are getting married, so I would really appreciate if you don't tell anyone that we used to date" he said bluntly without care.
She couldn't believed his utterances, her heart aches, feeling like thousand of needles just pierced through it. "Wh..wha..what the hell do you mean Josh" her voice trembled as she struggled to fight words out of her mouth.
She couldn't fathom the weight of his words. How could he do this to her after all they had been through, or was he joking? No no no no, this can't be real. She pinched herself to make sure she wasn't dreaming. "How long have you been lying to me, cheating with that trust fund girlfriend of yours" her voice rose to a pitch, the room filled with echoes of her outbursts.
Her eyes became glossy, she couldn't hold back the tears that came crashing down her cheeks.
"That probably the best for you Ava" her eyes widened in alarm at his sudden words. "You don't want to test me" he narrowed his eye, his facial expression darkened.
She couldn't help but wonder the man she had ever loved since her childhood seemed gone, now replaced by a stranger. Their shared love and experiences seemed to mean nothing to him now.
........end of flash back..........
She stretched her hands to take the glass filled with beer. Her hands came to halt, it felt like the bottle she was holding was stuck on the counter.
"I guess you are taking more than you can handle" A deep yet gentle voice brought her to reality. She looked at the glass of beer, held firmly by a grip. The last time she checked, no one was sitting right next to her at the bar counter. She traced the firm grip to see who dared to disrupt her lively moment.
She turned to see an handsome figure sitting right next to her, his jawline angular and chiseled, his high nose bridge pointed at her as his cherry and full lips call out to hers for an invitation. His presence melted her anger, she found herself lost in his piercing beautiful eyes.
"Rough night?" His thick yet gentle voice brought her back to reality. "Rough life" she responded. She tried lifting the glass as he let go. "What could make a pretty lady like you drink this much? You seemed troubled, let me guess, love issue?" The handsome man asked.
She seeped the content in the glass as she took a side gaze at him. "Why would you care to know" she mumbled in the glass.
"What does an Handsome man like you want from me? Its best for you to move along" she blurted out. "I am Drake by the way" he introduced himself extending his hands for greetings. She continued to shake her body, vibing to the music playing underground as if he didn't exits.
His gaze locked on her. He didn't move from where he his. "Still here? Well since you won't leave, I guess I should tell you a bit about my life" The words rushed out of her mouth. She started telling the handsome stranger the sad details about her life.
When she finished, tears streamed down her cheek, she wiped them away as she laughed bitterly "see how happy my life is" she said sarcastically.Rather than the expected pity or disgust, he studied her with an unreadable expression. He gently brushed a stray lock of hair from her face.
"He is a jerk for leaving such a beauty for money, well that's his loss but your gain. You should move on, he isnt worthy of you, you deserve better" the handsome stranger said softly, his gaze not leaving her as he utter those assuring words.
"My gain? What do mean my gain, he literally betrayed me, after all I had done for him. Look let me just kill myself it's better than staying in this harsh reality" she said raising the bottle in her hands.
Drake dragged the bottle from her hands and turned facing her eye ball to eye ball. "What if I could offer you a break from this harsh reality of yours" his rough voice had a wild effect, his eyes seemed to glitter with unspoken promises.
"And how do you plan on doing that?" Her voice trembled, heavy with uncertainty as she gave a questioning look at the stranger. Her eyes grew heavy weighed down by the liquor.
"You mean like this" she found herself leaning toward the handsome stranger. She brushed her lips to his, kissing him hard. He responded swiftly with the same pace like he already knew what she wanted.
He leaned backwards breaking the kiss. "Why don't we dicuss this in private" she felt the warmth of his breath as he whispered into her ears."Take me anywhere, just don't leave me..." she mumbled, her eyes drooping. She felt like her body was calling for him. She couldn't wait any longer for him to have her.
"Hold on I will be right back" Drake stood up and make his way outside the club, leaving her drowning her sorrow in the influence of the liquor. She watched him through the transparent window of the club, his lips was moving as he spoke on the phone but could not hear what he was saying.
"What have you found about her" Drake said in a low toned voice. "Her name is Ava Davis" The person on the line replied. "Good, i want you to have a background check on her. Make sure you find every single details about her" Drake said flicking his gaze towards Ava.
