Chapter 4

4. ROMAN "Are you going to stand there watching like a pervert or are you going to join me?” I asked, baiting her and her rebel spirit. She hesitated for a moment and then walked over just as I knew she would. My eyes never left her until she stopped beside the water. Her reflection on the surface was a beautiful silhouette. Raven's blue eyes were all storm as she slowly shrugged out of her nightdress. The light fabric was just about to fall, making my blood boil with its descent when a loud bang made her stop halfway. I almost cussed out loud as I promised to destroy whoever it was responsible for the reckless ruckus. “I think that's my cue to go." Raven said with a victorious smile. She ran off before I could stop her. “f*****g hell." I cussed, slapping the water. *** My senses sharpened, my instincts urging me to roam the wooden landscape around the pack's territory. My wolf spirit rumbled beneath my skin, eager for the thrill of the hunt. That morning, however, my focus lay elsewhere - on the fragile figure of Raven. She had cursed my thoughts all night and she was the first thing I thought about when I woke up. I usually woke up every morning thinking of new ways to vanquish my enemies but Raven had put an end to that. After my hunt, I led her through a maze of ancient trees, my keen eyes catching glimpses of her uncertainty and vulnerability. I knew that she needed guidance and strength, which is why I decided to introduce her to Emilia, a fierce and skilled warrior capable of hand to hand combat that left most men eating dust. Emilia was also my lover, but our bond was complicated, filled with unspoken desires and hidden truths. "Emilia, this is Raven," I declared, my voice deep and resonant in the stillness of the tree house. "I believe she has great potential, but she needs your guidance. She is a weak Omega, but I see something special in her." I could feel Raven's eye boring holes into the back of my skull and I knew if she had a loaded rifle I'd be bleeding on the floor from several holes. Emilia's amber eyes met mine, a flicker of amusement dancing in their depths. She inclined her head graciously, her ebony hair cascading like a waterfall down her back. "I will train her, Roman. I trust your judgment, but remember, she must prove herself to the pack." With a nod of gratitude, I watched as Emilia led Raven away to begin her training, their silhouettes disappearing into the shadows. Alone with my thoughts, I felt a wave of unease wash over me— a sense of protectiveness and uncertainty tangled in my heart. Lost in my thoughts, I didn't notice when Emilia crept up behind me, her steps silent against the wooden floor. "Roman," Emilia's voice was a soft whisper that broke through the silence. "What are you thinking about? Come, lay with me. We are lovers, are we not?" I turned to face Emilia, my eyes clouded with confusion. I looked at the doorway hoping to see Raven but there was no one there. "Emilia, this is not the time. Besides, aren't you supposed to be training, Raven. Where is Raven by the way?" She waved her long fingers as she said, "I gave her an exercise that will keep her busy enough for us to have an hour worth of fun.” As tempting as her offer was, I shook my head. "Not now, Emilia.” Emilia's features hardened at my rejection, hurt flashing in her eyes. "But Roman, do you not feel the fire between us? Do you not yearn for my touch? It's been so long." I shook my head, my resolve unwavering. "I can't be bothered right now. I suggest you channel all that energy into training Raven." Emilia's expression crumbled. She had hoped to reignite the spark that once burned brightly between us, but now she felt the distance growing. "Roman, please. Don't push me away. We are meant to be together, to fight side by side." I stared at her with a mixture of confusion and suspicion. "I don't know what you've been smoking recently, but I'll advise you stay off it a bit. Listen to yourself. You sound delusional." Her expression changed immediately and she turned vicious. "This is because of that blue eyed b***h, isn't it?” She didn't stop there. She walked over closing the distance between us, a grave mistake on her part but who was I to judge? “I knew something was wrong when I heard you came back with a Trident fall reject. The lowly b***h has bewitched you. I knew it!" My movement was too fast for her to avoid even with her experience and expertise as a warrior. I pinned her to the wall with one hand as she squirmed and struggled to get free. It was futile and she knew it. "Who the f**k do you think you are talking to me like that?" I asked in a voice that was purely crafted from anger. She flinched and I felt all the resistance drain out of her being. Her eyes softened as tears pooled there. “You're important to me, Emilia and I would like to keep your head on your shoulder where it belongs but the next time you disrespect me—the next time you disrespect Raven would be your last.” I loosened my grip a little, "Do you understand?" She nodded as the tears fell. Certain she had gotten the message, I left her coughing and gasping for air.
