Cat
The whole house stank of w**d, I walked downstairs cautiously, it was six o'clock and I couldn't hear anyone inside, I was sure that they were sleeping.
I headed to the kitchen, the counter had new packs of cocaine, probably from the night she wasn't home, there was a small pack that was torn and the powder lay near it. I took a deep breath, I remembered when I used to take these stuff early in the morning just to keep up with everyone's shenanigans.
I extended my hand lightly, feeling the small, rough particles on my palm, oh, it was beautiful, it would probably help me, I would survive those small talks by idiots at school, all those bad people I see on the roads, Mickey, Mickey... Mickey!
"Don't," My mum said from behind me, breaking me from those thoughts I've always tried to suppress,
"Darling..." She was crying, "I'm... God!" She pulled me close, I wish she wasn't tongue tied, I wish she wasn't crying, she made me remember and cry too, I hugged her tightly, "I... Am embarrassed, I am sorry... I... God," She couldn't finish her sentence, she broke down, her whispers echoing through my mind,
"It's okay," I whispered to my mother, I was a strong person and thus had to be one to my mother too.
"Do you want breakfast?" she broke the hug and whispered while wiping my tears,
"Not really, I just need some fruits for lunch and I'll take some bread and leave,"
"You need coffee,"
"I have some money,"
She looked at me while faintly smiling, I knew what she was thinking, probably that I was a strong child or maybe still a life ruining decision she never overcame, I took my bread and dropped some fruits in a paper that was lying on the floor, kissed her cheek and left.
Chiki was in a terrible mood, he kept sighing angrily and writing fast and it wasn't his usual handwriting, he looked up at the teacher then looked at me when he noticed I had been staring for almost a decade, or so it seemed.
"What?" He whispered while looking at his book,
"Right back at yah,"
"Nothing is wrong with me?"
"Nothing is wrong with everyone but something is bothering you,"
"It's really nothing," he said, denial flashing all over his face,
"Spill the tea?" I said while writing the equation on the board.
"Okay, but I'll tell you at lunch,"
"So what was the problem?" I had been waiting half the day to ask that, we were sitting with Ash, Max and Simon, Chiki's neighbor,
"So you guys know my girlfriend right?" Who didn't really, Chloe was the most beautiful girl in school and he had been dating Chiki for a while now and they were the cover of Hillton couple page on i********:. They were the most beautiful couple in the whole school.
"So what's up with Chloe?" Ash asked while taking a bite of his sandwich, Chiki had exchanged his sandwich with my fruits, he loved fruits.
"She wanted me to join the Valentines Handsome movement!"
"So?" I asked,
"Dude, that's for single people alone,"
"She wants you to join, then f*****g join." Max looked at Chiki in an elderly, more feminist look, I smirked at it.
"What?" Chiki looked directly into my eyes and I lost my breath (humorous?!)
"It's just that Max gave you the adult talk look and I realized how much of a child he was,"
"Ouch," Ash said while tapping his shoulder, "You have no idea how right he is,"
We broke into a laugh as Max pouted and hit the table.
"You guys really think she won't get mad when I join that Valentines s**t?"
"Yeah dude," I told him.
I was still laughing at Max, we were heading to Lit class together, Chiki wasn't my desk mate there, he was Chloe's I sat at my usual spot Ash and Max usually sat behind me, Chloe looked at me and rolled her eyes, Chiki then mumbled something to her and she looked over and smiled at me in a creepy, horror type of way.
I looked in front, and stared at the board, not so long after, the people in Chiki's row laughed hard and some of them looked over at me, I looked at Chiki, he was smirking and looking at me, he raised his palm lightly as if waving at me, I smiled and looked over at the board.
"I think they're talking about you," Ash whispered behind me, I looked at him,
"I don't care," I said as I glanced at Chiki once again, he was leaning on Chloe's shoulder, she was using her phone, Chiki's hands were on her waist, I felt jealous of how she was loved, my ex never held my waist like that.
"But it looks juicy," Max said as he closed a book in front of him,
"Whatever," I said as I looked in front when Mr. Smith entered.
"Hey... can I ask for a favor?" Chiki came to me immediately after class,
"What?" I asked, hoping that he would tell me why they were laughing.
"Can I have your phone number?" He bit his teeth as he smiled awkwardly,
"Is that what you were discussing there?"
"No," he bluffed, "Chloe was telling us about..." he stopped talking and looked away, "Either way, can I still get your number?"
"Okay," I needed someone to chat with, after this summertime, I realized how lonely I really was.
I gave him my number then headed out, he said that he was going with Chloe home and I waved him goodbye.
"Hey... Get in," I had walked for almost ten minutes, the sun was so hot I had to look down while walking, I heard Chiki's voice from behind me,
I stopped, Chloe stopped the car, it was her, Simon and Chiki on the back,
"No need really," I said as I went on walking,
"Oh please!" Chiki pouted and I smiled at him, f**k it, I thought, might as well.
I entered the car, it smelled new and clean, I strapped my belt and looked outside,
"I'm Chloe by the way," She said,
"Why you actin' as if he doesn't know you?" Chiki hit Chloe's back,
"I thought he didn't!"
Simon laughed loudly and I looked at him through the mirror.
"She's an i***t, I accepted that,"
"I'm Friendly Chic," Chloe tapped his right hand, he had balanced it on her shoulder from the while that he hit her.
I smiled at her,
"I'm Cat,"
"I heard a lot about you Cat, fells like I already know you," Chiki and Simon burst out laughing, I just kept quiet as I knew they were probably laughing about what they were discussing on their desk during Literature.
