A MONTH BEFORE FALL BREAK Dominic’s POV: Things been going according to plan starting from my SAT preparations to the training for the basketball league coming up, but there were a few set backs the previous week. Jeremy had an issue with Jane’s boyfriend Matt and in a disbanded the gang. Though the air has been cleared I never still understood what really happened and I ain’t ready to bring that back up. Today’s Saturday, Jeremy and the guys are coming over for our usual bro hangout and I’m going to drop June in her friends place, she’s having a sleepover there. “When are the boys coming over hon?”, my mom asked gathering her bags in the living room. Her and dad were going to her sister’s place for her wedding preparations in Texas which was a week from Fall and they planned on stating there until Fall break’s over. June doesn’t see it as a good idea but I’m definitely okay with it. “Well I spoke to Jeremy and he said they’ll be here around 3pm”, I replied going to assist her with her bags. “Okay dear, whatever you guys are doing don’t forget to carry June to Stacy’s place by 5, okay?”, “Sure mom”, I assured her. “Don’t forget to call or send a text if there’s any problem”, she continued. It seemed as if she had second thoughts on going because she kept on repeating the same instructions multiple times. “Okay darling, let’s get going, we don’t want to miss our flight”, my dad said coming down from the stairs. “Mom, tell Dom to always do what I ask him while you’re gone”, June said as she turned off the Tv to assist my parents carry the bags to their car in the garage. “Don’t worry, he’ll always do what you want”, my mom exclaimed bending to June’s height assuring her. June’s a sweet little sister but sometimes she can be a pain in the ass. “Now son, don’t forget our number one house rule. NO PARTIES in the house, if you want to party call us on the phone and we’d make …”, “Sure dad”, “Don’t forget to read for your exams though”, “Yes sir”, “Greet the boys for me”, my mom said as she entered the car. They finally drove off leaving the house for me and my little sister. I didn’t actually know what to do because this is the first time through out my life that I’m home alone in the house. “So… what do we do now?”, June asked. “I don’t know …. What do you want to do?”, “Since you asked, I want to go to Beckett’s table for breakfast”, “Nope, there’s food at home”, “Mom said you should do whatever I wanted”, “That didn’t include carrying you around town”, “I’m sure they’ve not gone far. I bet once I call them they’ll turn right back and when they find out you don’t want to take me to the res….”, “Fine, go change your clothes and meet me here”, I interrupted her never ending threatening speech. Beckett’s table was like a 10 minutes drive from our home, when I checked the time on my phone it was 11am and the boys wouldn’t be around until 3pm so I had few hours to spend with my sister. “Hurry up June”, I yelled from the garage. “I’m coming”, she responded. After a long minute wait, she finally decided to come back. We entered my car and went to the restaurant. I am not a fan of restaurants because picking a dish from the menu is my biggest problem. I always want to have a taste of everything on the menu. “What’re we gonna order?”, I asked June. “Whatever you want”, she responded. We spent over an hour deciding on what to eat and that’s when the cheer squad walked inside. “Isn’t that your friend Willow and some other girls?”, June asked pointing towards their direction. “Yeah, it’s her. I wonder what she’s doing here”, “Call her and ask her then”, “Sure”, I responded. “Willow!”, I yelled waving at her. When she saw me she left the girls and came towards the table June and I were sitting. “What’s up douche bag”, she exclaimed. “Hey June”, “I’m good, what’re you and the squad doing here?”, “We just came to grab some snacks and talk about new moves for the league, what’re you doing here?”, “June and I came to eat breakfast”, “Breakfast by 11:40?”, “My parents aren’t in town and June said she wanted to come here and it’s been tough choosing a meal”, “Nice one big bro”, she said ironically. “Talk to you later, gotta go meet the girls”, she said leaving our table. “I like willow”, June said out of the blue. “Everyone does”, I responded. We finally decided to eat Beckett's Table Signature Fork Tender Short Ribs each which was technically creamy mashed potatoes, sautéed veggies and red onion demi-glace. We spent an extra hour in the restaurant and when we finished eating I payed the bill and we left for home. Time flew by and it was already 3:15. The guys were already in my house and we were playing video games on the console when Jeremy pitched up and idea. “Remember when I said the party’s going to be when my parents aren’t around?”, “Yeah.. what’s with it?”, one of the guys replied. “We’ll my parents aren’t going to be around during Fall. They’re going to spend their wedding anniversary at the place they got engaged in Paris”, “So what’re you saying?”, Matt inquired. “What I’m saying is, the party’s going to hold during Fall break. So you guys cool with it?”, he concluded asking for our opinions. “I bet we all are dude”, I replied talking for the whole guys. “Cool then, I’ll call the girls now and tell them about it”, he said. He left the living room with his phone. The rest of the day went on smoothly, I took Jane to her friends place for her sleepover and then spent the rest of the weekend alone. I was really looking forward towards the party. ———————————————————
