01~ A New Home
Clara's Pov
The summer holiday is just in two days. Mother had phoned me earlier this morning to remind me that I'd be coming over to my new home, a home I didn't fancy at all.
Ever since dad passed away, she's been jumping from one man to another, claiming facts about them and not up to a month or two, she's done with love. Now, successfully, she has landed into the arms of Alpha Darius, the Alpha leader of our pack.
I hated the idea that I'd be having Alpha Darius as my stepfather. It made me sick to have the fourth man in mom's life to be called dad. I tried to explain to her not to bother about me coming over, rather I'd find some where within the city to rent and spend my holiday in.
But being so decisive, she insisted I should come home and meet my new family. I've heard so much about Alpha Darius, it's said he has three sons who are years older than I am. I don't want to feel too small in their midst, but on the other hand there was no way I could escape that fact.
It's all mom's fault.
I began packing so I won't have to forget any thing while leaving back to Florida. Just as time always flies, it's me, sitting my ass on the waiting bench of the airport, thinking on how to cope with my new home and new family as mother would always say.
I glared at my wrist watch, I've got less than twenty minutes before the plane to Florida shows up. I went to the restroom, forcing myself to piss but nothing seems to be coming out. I was so frustrated and confused at the same time.
It was later announced that the plane had finally arrived. I glared at myself at the mirror, heaving heavily to ease the depression from my shoulder which at the end wasn't helping at all.
I went to pick my bag. I checked on my phone only to see about five missed calls from mom. "f**k!" I cursed. "Can't you let me breathe for one second, mother. Geez."
I carried my luggages with me to the plane, dropping it above my head. I wore my seatbelt, waiting for the rest of the passengers to show up before the plane set to go.
I was deep in thought on how my life would turn out to be in my new home, if Alpha Darius would accept me like his daughter, or treat me like some kinda trash bin. I was still thinking that I didn't realize when I dozed off.
I finally woke up at the sound of the female auto repeat voice from the speaker above my head that we had finally landed in Florida. I looked outside the window, searching to see if mom was waiting for me.
We all started leaving the plane with our belongings. From the exit door, I could see a black tinted car waiting a few meters away from the plane. Suddenly, a young gentleman dressed in a black suit stepped out.
I was beginning to wonder if he was here for me, or probably waiting for some one else to show up. I didn't pay much attention to him, so I kept a straight face towards the airport quarter.
"Miss Bradenton?" I heard a voice call my name, and surely it was the gentleman I had assumed. "Excuse me, are you Miss Bradenton?"
I stopped walking. "Yes. How may I help you?"
"Alpha Darius sent me to pick you up." He answered. Then he took my stuff from me, carrying it to the car. After he had dropped it, he opened the passenger door for me to enter.
The ride to my new home was a quiet one. I don't know what to say, and I wasn't the conversation starter, but I honestly wanted to ask this gentleman some questions.
We got home. I sighted mom standing outside as she was expecting to see me. I could see the welcoming smile on her face even though she hasn't seen me yet. It's been five months since I last saw her, and for two months she's been living with her new husband.
But to me, two months with the Alpha seemed like a year. She was looking stunning and younger. Her used to be tattered hair is looking neat and curly now. Indeed, Alpha Darius has been treating her well.
As soon as the car came to a halt, I quickly opened the door, ignoring the gentleman who had asked me to stay back in order to do the honor of opening the door himself. I rushed to mom, jumping in her arms.
At first, she looked scared at how I approached her, but relaxed as soon as I safely landed in her arms. She kissed my neck while she hugged me so tight. "I've missed you, sweetheart."
"I've missed you too, mom."
"But why would you think of staying away from me if you missed me too?" She asked, breaking the hug.
"I was scared to come here, and I wouldn't have if you hadn't insisted."
She smiled softly at me, pulling me in for another hug. "Ouch, mom. You're choking me."
She breaks the hug, dragging me into the gigantic mansion. My jaw dropped as we made it in. The flamboyant decorations made me feel like heaven on earth. A part of me thanked mom for dragging me here in the first place.
Look what I would have been missing.
"Isn't it beautiful?" She asked.
"It's gorgeous." I confessed.
"Well, let me introduce you to Alpha Darius, you're stepfather." I heard mom say.
I stopped admiring the house, looking at Alpha Darius who was now standing face to face with me. He was looking the same as always. The Moon goddess has indeed blessed him with a young age that one won't know when he's fifty.
"Greetings to His Royal Majesty." I bowed in courtesy.
He laughed at me. "You don't have to play so formal while addressing your father. I'd prefer the normal bowing, sweetheart." His simplicity got me to the point where I found myself accepting him at all costs. "Welcome home, dear."
"Thank you, Your Majesty." I bowed my head.
"Why don't we keep the formality aside for the meantime. Father will be more preferable to me."
"Thanks Y– I'll keep that in mind father"
"You look exhausted, baby, why don't you go take a shower while lunch is being prepared." Mother said, waving a soft smile at me.
I am so happy to be here. I mean, I never expected such welcoming gestures from Alpha Darius. I was expecting him to be more fearless and ruthless, and probably at the fact that I am a girl, I was definitely making his family circle a little odd.
When it was time for lunch, a maid had dropped it in my room so I didn't have to bother myself heading to the dining room. It was during dinner she informed me that it would be general, that means at the dining hall.
I ate to my satisfaction, dozing off into my wildest dream land.
All of a sudden, I heard a thin voice say to me. "Miss Bradenton, it's time for dinner."
