Chapter 6 The new chapter part 1

I woke up after a dreamless night for once. I felt a renewed sense of security. I looked over at my clock. It was 4:45am I didn’t care. I found my clothes for the day, and headed off to the shower, got dressed and headed down to the kitchen. Star grumbled in my mind. She was still half asleep this morning.

“I am not really wanting to get up yet! So leave me alone!” She said grumpily.

I turned on the lights as I entered the kitchen, and headed straight for the pantry. I didn’t expect my position change to have been told to the other omegas so I proceeded as I normally would. I did get all the ingredients out for the muffins though. I felt like they were a good way to thank the Alpha.

I planned on making some more cinnamon ones and some blueberry muffins today.

I was collecting all the other items required for breakfast when Chloe came in. She was a little earlier than normal. I hadn’t even got her coffee ready yet. It was still brewing in the pot.

“What are you doing down this early?” I asked her while stopping what I was doing and getting her coffee mug.

“Well someone was promoted last night so I came to make a start early. I don’t think someone got the memo though!” She said with her eyebrows raised at me. I turned around mug in hand and smiled sheepishly.

“I’m so sorry Chloe. Are you mad at me. I didn’t think the Alpha would have told you yet, so I got everything out like I would normally.” I asked her. I felt like I was letting her down by partially leaving even though I would be in the same room still.

“Are you being serious Lauren?” She said with a huge smile. “of course I am not mad at you, I am so glad you have been given this opportunity hunny. You really do deserve it.” I could see tears begin to form in her eyes. She came close to me took the mug out my hand a placed it on the counter and gave me a hug. I embraced it and hugged her back. Chloe has always been someone that looked out for me.

We both started on our various tasks, I told her I would help her as normal this morning and in return I asked her to help me with the planning and ordering of items for baking. She agreed happily and we went about our jobs. As well as helping Chloe, I started on the first few batches of muffins. I would do the blueberry ones first and then the cinnamon buns after that.

We both just got on with stuff and was chatting away happily. We never even noticed the time until the other omegas came in. They were all going to be briefed after the morning rush as I was going to see if any of them would volunteer to help me in the mornings occasionally.

As the time hit 6:30 the others started to take out the breakfast items onto the hot counter. I asked Chloe if she would help me take out the 3 trays of muffins I had baked. She jumped at the chance and we started walking the trays out. As we placed the first two trays on the table the Alpha approached us. Chloe excused herself to fetch the last tray of muffins while the Alpha wanted to speak to me.

He eyed up the muffins covering the table behind me. With a smile he said “I think we are going to need a bigger table at the rate your going Lauren.” He seemed pleased with our deal already. “I have something for you that will help you I hope, and if there is anything you need to help you start out don’t be afraid to ask. Ok?” He finished. He handed me a small bag.

“What’s this for sir?” I asked.

“Open it and see.” Was all he said. He still had a smile on his face. I began to open the bag. Inside were a few notebooks, pens, a lanyard with a key attached and there was also a key card. I looked up at the Alpha, still a little perplexed.

“Well, you will need the notebooks for ordering your items you need and the pens are for that too. The lanyard key is for a locker in the gym and the key card is for the gym too so don’t lose it ok.you will need to speak to the trainers in the gym about ordering you some correct cloths too.” he told me.

“The last bit is a bit odd.” Star said In my head.

“Ok sir. Thank you very much, I have written the hours for you as I said I would.” I answered him, handing him a small piece of paper. Just then Chloe came back with the last of the muffins and placed them on the table. She came over to us, smiled and said “breakfast is now served Alpha. He gave us his thanks smiled and went on his way as we turned to go back to the kitchen.

“What you got there Lauren?” Chloe said. Eyeing up the small bag.

“Just some bits to help me with the ordering of things I need.” I said back. She didn’t need to know about the gym thing yet.

“Right. Let’s make this change official in the kitchen shall we?” She asked me as we went through the doors.

“Can I have everyone’s attention please!” Chloe said as we entered the kitchen. Everyone stopped what they were doing and turned to look at us. I looked down at my hands and let Chloe continue. “As you all know, Lauren has been doing the baking occasionally for as long as we have been adding it to our meals.” All the omegas agreed.

“Yeah and we love It too as she does some extra most of the time.” One girl said. Others agreed with her.

“Yeah it’s definitely a big hit all around. Well today the Alpha has decided it’s time to give Lauren a new position. Head baker. She will no longer be helping us as much with the normal meals, but will still be around. She will be doing mainly sweet treats for the pack.” She told the group in front of us.

They all seemed happy for me and congratulated me.

“Does that mean we get some extras too?” A young girl asked looking directly at me. I looked up at her. She must have been about 12 year old and only came in occasionally as she was still in school most days.

“Yes, I will be doing extra baking for us all now.” I said. They all seemed happy with this answer.

“Right, let’s get back to work now. We still have the rest of this shift to finish.” Chloe said. I placed my bag away in a cupboard for safety and began to help them. At first Chloe looked at me strangely but never actually said anything.

“I will need some help with ordering things and checking things, today if you can help me?” I asked her. I saw a smile on her face and knew she understood what I ment.

“When we going to the gym?” Star asked me bouncing in my head. “Come on I want to go look. I need to go look!” She pleaded.

“We will go when I know it’s quiet in there ok!” I told her strictly. She threw herself on the base of my head In a huff. I hated when she did this. It sort of gave me a headache. Not a bad one but still was uncomfortable. “Fine.” Was all she said back, she curled up and blocked me out again.

We finished the breakfast rush and got everything cleaned up. After most of the omegas had left Chloe came up to me.

“Are you ready for learning Lauren? She asked with a cheeky grin.

“Is this going to be like school?” I asked back playfully. Omegas did attend a school, but it was not like normal schools. We would start at 10am and finish at 2pm and we only attended until 14 years old. Being werewolf’s, we only really needed to know and learn pack stuff. We were normally not in the human side of the world often as we are our own community.

“I am your teacher for a bit.” Chloe said laughing. “Let’s get started shall we,” she finished off.

I grabbed both of the pads and a pen. For each of us. We started by writing what each pad was for. One was ingredients and one was an utensils and planner book. We started with the utensils and planner first. I wrote down all the stuff we had and then all the stuff I needed. There wasn’t too much to order but I couldn’t keep taking the main kitchens stuff all the time as they used them, so we got new bits like a new mixer, jugs, bowls and other small bits wrote down
