Unknown POV
I was still in my wolf form as I followed the scent all the way back through the woods. I remained in the shadows. I needed to know who that amazing young lady was.
“She is our mate! Numb nuts!” My wolf Lynx said “We need to claim her now!” he was a little agitated as I wouldn’t show myself to her. She looked like she was afraid of us.
“She doesn’t seem to feel the connection Lynx!” I told him. I wondered how old she was. I am sure I would recognise her in the pack somewhere. Those eyes are the most beautiful ones I have ever seen.
“They were very unique.” Lynx commented “you are right though I am sure we will find her easy with them eyes.”
“I promise we will ask my father about it this evening.” I told him. I would question him about her. I headed back to the entrance to the wood. I stood still remaining in world for and still holding the drawing pad in my jaws. I looked out towards the pack house and saw her at the door to the kitchen. She turned and looked at me, her eyes were different now but she was too far away from me to notice the colour fully.
“This may be a bit harder than we thought,Lynx.”
“We have her pad. We can look inside it to see if we can figure out who she is.” He replied.
We turned and ran back to where our clothes were hidden in the bush. Once we had shifted back and put our clothes back on, we rushed back through the gardens and back to the pack house. I held the note pad in my hands. This was the only thing I had that could help me track her down. Since that first time I smelled her scent, it was all I could think of.
“Let’s look in the book. We need to look in it!” Lynx said in my head.
“Not here Lynx. We will go upstairs ok.” I scolded him. He was eager to find the owner as was I but I wouldn’t risk loosing her before I even got chance to meet her. If she saw me with the pad then she would never trust me.
We practically ran up the stairs two at a time. As I passed the second floor, I swear I could smell her again. I briefly slowed but then continued as fast as I could. I walked through my door and locked it behind me. Nobody knew how to knock lately. I didn’t want anyone else to see this or even know about it yet. I sat at my desk and placed the note pad in front of me, unopened. The cover had quite a bit of wear to it. I could tell it was old but well taken care of.
“Come on Jackson. Open it! The suspension is killing me here and if not that then old age will!” Lynx said sarcastically.
“Oh stop being dramatic will you.” I snipped back. To tell ya the truth I was nervous. This girl looked amazing but also afraid. She held my heart already and we hadn’t even met.
I turned the main cover over. It revealed a drawing that scared me. It was dark and even a little angry looking. I scanned the entire page for any name wrote. There wasn’t one as I could see. I turned the page over and the next drawing was less dark but still not something I would expect. This picture was of a dark storm. There was something this girl had in her life that she didn’t like. I became more intrigued to find out who she was. This one was dated and signed. the signature read L. Newton, I believe. I had never heard that name used in our pack.
“I don’t recall that name either.!” Lynx told me. I continued to look through the pad, the drawings were amazing but I did notice the signature changed. It started to look like L. Briggs. Now that name looked familiar. As if I had seen it wrote somewhere.
“Maybe we can go through the archives.” As I was thinking this someone tried to enter my room, luckily, I had locked the door. I closed the pad and slipped it in my drawers. I locked them just to be safe.
“Who is it” I called out.
“Bro it’s me. Why is your door locked?” Arron called back.
I walked over to the door as he said the most offensive thing.
“Do you have a girl with you? Should I come back later?”
“Dude. Don’t say things like that!” I replied. Shuddering at the thought and I opened the lock on the door. “I was just researching something, and I am sick and tired of no respect and people just waltzing in my room, as and when they want!” Lynx sat up in my head. Oh no he was Going to rip into him.
“I am an alpha and I deserve respect!”Lynx snapped at him through the link.
Arron tilted his head show he submitted to us.
“Sorry Alpha, sorry Lynx!” He said truthfully.
I turned and walked back to my desk, I looked at him as he sat on my couch.
“So what do you want? Arron.” I asked him. He casually looked up at me as if trying to remember.
“Oh, yeah, your father asked me to tell ya that he wants to see you in his office with me n Jason.” He said as if it was not a big deal.
“Oh well ya know you could have linked me and told me.” I snapped at him. I linked Jason and told him to meet me at my dad's office. I got out my chair and looked at Arron expectedly. Then Jason answered me. “What now?” He spoke. “It’s almost dinner time.” He added through the link.
I looked at the clock sat on my desk. 5:45pm.
“How long have we been in here?” Lynx asked me. I honestly had no idea we were here that long long. I linked my father.
“Do you want to see us now dad, or after dinner.” I asked him slightly concerned. I was still shocked I had lost a few hours of my day looking at the drawing pad.
“Well I will see you at dinner won’t I?” My father asked.
“Yeah of course. I will be down soon.” I told him.
“Arron, come on. It’s almost dinner time and I want you out my room!” I said a little too sternly. Arron looked up at me and slowly proceeded to get off my sofa.
“Do you think you could be any slower?” I mind linked him.
“Well I am still recovering from the run you made us do.” He said back.
“Well I will have to eat your portion of dessert then.” I said heading out the my door. Amazingly enough he was off the sofa and behind me in a split second.
“I will be ok. I can eat my own dessert thanks.” He said starting to practically jog dow the corridor to the stairs.
“Knew that would get him moving.” I said to Lynx, who was shaking his head.
“That is all that i***t thinks about.” He said. “Are you sure he is going to be a good choice for Beta?” He asked me.
“He will be amazing at it.” I told Lynx. “He may be a goofus but he knows when to be serious too.”
We walked down to the dining room joking about random stuff and generally having a laugh. We entered the dining room and headed to the main table where we all ate together. Mum and dad were already there.
I sat beside them after giving my mum a kiss on the cheek and my father a respectful nod. He nodded in return. We began by discussing pack things while we waited for dinner to start.
Mum got up and headed to the kitchen for some reason. When she came back out I couldn’t believe my eyes. There was the most delectable chocolate cake in her hands and another behind her. Carrying the other was a girl that looked just like the one from earlier. The only difference was the eyes.
My father got up and walked over to them and began talking to mum and the girl.
“Mate, mate, mate!” Lynx kept saying in my head.
“Her eyes are different Lynx.” I said trying to get a good look at them from my table.
“It’s definitely mate, you i***t. I know it is mate.”he rambled on.
Mum and dad started back towards the table chatting. I would ask my father who she is after dinner.
