Rise of the War Chief

Elder Thomas was the first to enter the arena as Elder Stephen called for the contestants again, and a murmur started through the spectators. "What is this Elder Thomas?" he called as Jane walked in following him. "The remaining contestants have submitted to Luna Jane and are ready to withdraw from the remainder of contests." Elder Thomas announced as the rest of the contestants followed behind her to the center of the arena. "This is unexpected. If any wish to Challenge Luna Jane they may do so now?" Elder Stephen announced as he looked around. None of the other Alphas stood for the challenge, and Elder Stephen nodded. "We will have to await the two Alphas that she has disabled to regain consciousness before we continue." he said walking from the upper podium. It took them two hours to stabilize Alpha Green and Alpha Kincaid to the point they understood what was going on. "Who won the tournament?" Alpha Jacob Green asked as he held his head. "Luna Jane Esvolt, the other Alphas submitted after Alpha Kincaid crashed through the gong." Elder Stacy said from across the room glaring. They had been betting on a different outcome but had no choice now. "What can we do?" Kincaid asked. "Any Alpha can challenge at the crowning ceremony, otherwise they will have to find cause to challenge." Elder Stephen said. Neither were aware that Elder Thomas was outside the door as he had been sent to summon them. "Neither of us will be able to take her, and I doubt there is any Alpha that can." Thomas Kincaid said. "Our only choice is wether we submit or not, I personally intend to." he said hanging his head. "We may have no choice but to as well, I do not think many will be able to stand against her." Alpha Jacob said as well knowing her strength. They stopped talking as someone climbed the stairs, and Elder Thomas opened the door at that point. "The Alphas have gathered and are prepared to proceed with the Ceremony, are these two prepared to begin?" Elder Thomas said knowing what they were discussing. He suspected they had prepared a whole plan of subjugation for themselves. He knew he would need more if he were to prove it. "We are." Alpha Kincaid said as he stood and walked from the infirmary. He marched straight for the Festival Grounds of this clan. 20 minutes later the Elders walked to the stage with a Scepter that each wolf knew what was. None had held it since William himself went crazy. Each of the Alphas had always dreamed of holding this scepter as they would be the King of All Wolves. "The tournament has concluded, and only one remains standing. Luna Jane Esvolt, please step forward." Elder Stephen called. "She has bested all challengers, and as such stands prepared to accept the Scepter of Leadership. Are any prepared to stand in challenge?" he demanded of the gathered Alphas that were there. After a few moments and none of them stood he finally continued. "Luna Jane Esvolt, as none challenge your ascension, you are hereby presented with the Scepter of Leadership and Appointed WarChief of the Wolf Clans." Elder Stephen said as Elder Thomas presented the pillow with the Scepter on it. She grabbed the Scepter and knew it took the blood of the Alphas to activate. "Do you swear that you shall lead the Wolf Nation from this day forward putting no clan before another?" Elder Stephen asked beginning the Ancient Oath. "I do." she answered clearly. "Do you swear you shall lead the armies of the Packs to protect the peace of all Packs?" Elder Stacy called. "I do." "Do you swear that no matter the threat that you shall stand firm against it?" Elder Thomas asked. "I do." "Than by the power of this council, and the virtue shown on the Tournament Grounds, we hereby declare you, Luna Jane Anna Esvolt, War Chief of the Packs. We call upon all Alphas to kneel before the new War Chief and swear fealty to her." Elder Gweneth called forth. It took over an hour for the Alphas to come and kneel before her and swear fealty. Each of them cutting their palm and pressing it to the Scepter to activate the link. She felt the power of the link with each Alpha that swore increase, and knew that she would never again hear the voices of her pack. She knew the power would go to Todd as soon as the ritual was completed. It was irony that it was the new moon, and she could see it as it approached the Pinnacle of the sky, and the last Alpha, Thomas Kincaid knealt before her. "I, Alpha Thomas Kincaid of the Blue Lakes Pack, hereby swear fealty and loyalty to the War Chief. We stand ready to answer the call and will defend our nation with pride." he swore before slashing his palm and grabbing the Scepter. She felt it vibrate in her hand knowing that now was the time. "I, Luna Jane Esvolt, do hereby proclaim my mate Tantalus as the new Alpha of the Dragonian Pack. I swear that I shall forsake the tethers of a Pack as I lead all Wolves forward into our new future. I swear that I shall lead all wolves as they are equals, putting none above another as we protect all packs." she said slashing her palm and placing it on top of the Scepter as the New Moon reached it's pinnacle. As soon as she did a bright flash filled the clearing, coming from in front of the podium she was standing on. It intensified to the point that almost all wolves turned their eyes from the light. As quick as it started the light faded, and Selene stood their clapping her hands to Jane. "My beautiful daughter, I knew you were the one that would be able to shoulder this responsibility if you could convince them. For too long have you all remained subjugated to the Olympians, and finally the dates have fallen into place. "Thank you my children for having the foresight to know that at times pride must be set aside to ensure the safety of all. Remember this day when all seems lost, and know that your War Chief is blessed by her moon goddess." Selene said. "Stand strong and do what you must to ensure you survive. Remember my daughter, all their lives will be impacted by what you decide and do. Follow your heart and know that it will always lead you in the right direction." she said as her light brightened in her signature flash again as she disappeared. A tear had formed in Jane's eye, and she knew all the Alphas had seen the moon goddess. They all knelt in reverence before Jane, before they all lifted the heads and howled as a pack of wolves. Jane lifted her head and finished the howl with them all, the link with the Alphas solidifying as she did. Todd felt the power of the Alpha fill him, and knew he was now the leader of the Dragonian Pack, wether he wanted it or not. He had not expected that when this whole thing began. He didn't expect her to actually be named the War Chief, even though he knew she was very powerful. He hoped this would not impact what he had planned for Aries when he arrived at Tartarus in a few days. The feast that had been planned for dinner was served to the Alphas as they celebrated the change in their future. The feast was just getting rowdy when the sky filled with lightning, looking like it was striking upwards instead of down to the Earth. As soon as it stopped they heard the voice of Zeus as it boomed across the planes of Olympus and man alike. "SOUND THE HORN AND PREPARE OUR TROOPS, WE MARCH ON THE MORTALS TO WIPE THE SLATE OF TANTALUS CLEAN!" Zeus roared for all to hear him. The Alphas looked around as they heard it, knowing that this would not be good. "LIGHT THE FORGES AND STRIKE THE ARMOR, WE ATTACK IN ONE MONTH!" He proclaimed for them all to here. And just as he finished the Lightning struck the peaks of Olympus again illuminating the entire plane. "Celebrate tonight, for tomorrow we also stoke the fires of war as we prepare to meet the challenge that faces us. We will face this challenge as one!" she declared as they all cheered again. It was a few minutes later when her Gamma Jason ran up and whispered in her ear. "President Andrews is on the video link." he said and she knew what it was about and she had to take the call. She ran all the way to the Command Center, and walked into her new secure office. Todd had been managing everything as if the entire pack was at war. She pushed the button on her desk that closed the blinds and secured the room against any form on recording. She clicked on the link and he looked a little nervous as the screen resolved. "I assume you know the reason of my call?" he asked without even go ling through the nicities first. "I can guess the clans that heard that are a little nervous?" she asked. "When a voice from the heavens declares war on the mortal world it tends to make some Humans nervous." he said succinctly. "And almost every Clan heard it across the realm." She had not expected this as the other Packs had not reported it yet as the Alphas were celebrating the election of a War Chief. "The Packs stand ready for war as we begin preparation tomorrow. I assume we can still expect you tomorrow morning?" she asked. "Yes, I shall be at your borders in the morning. But I will have to bring a few more people than I was expecting." he said knowing the Knights would have to be involved. He would be revealing a few things that the humans had been hiding since the time of the Treatise. "Very well Mr. President, we will welcome any that you bring with you so long as they obey the rules of conduct set forth in the Treatise." she answered knowing she was about to cut the party short. "May I make a suggestion?" he asked as he looked up. "Always." she said welcoming any advice he might have. "Assemble your mages for training, we must prepare for war." he told her terminating the call. She made a few calls, as all of the Packs had been informed, and she had already issued the orders before the Alphas knew anything. All wolves had sensed the binding, and would be able to sense it in her Aura now. It had been a little over an hour, and she walked out of the Control Room and ran right into Todd as he came down the stairs with his bag. "I've been looking for you my dearest. It is time I depart so that I do not miss what is coming." he said as he hugged her tightly. She wrapped him in her arms as she reached up and kissed him. "Be safe my love, come back to me so we can prepare." she whispered in his ear. "Brian will be doing what is needed, not very nice to make me Alpha ya know." he whispered back as he kissed her again. "Had to, although what happens next is going to piss me off." she said remembering the whole story of William and his mates. He had 2 so that they could run the pack while he led all the wolves. She wasn't to keen on sharing him with anyone, even if she knew it was required for what was to come. "Do not worry my dear, I will not let anything or anyone come between us. Just because my mother says that is the way it has to work, does not mean she is right." Todd said as he adjusted his bag. "But we will wait until it happens. For now let us focus on what we must do, and ensure that those we care for will survive what is to come." "See ya." she said before kissing him one last time and walking away. She made it out the door when Brian stood beside her. "You shall have the full support of the Pack War Chief." he said as they both stood there watching. "Thank you Beta, but we must cut this party short for the war is upon us." she said as she walked to the Festival Grounds. She waited until the song ended before she roared with the might of her Aura as she got their attention. "It has come to my attention that we are not the only ones that heard the proclamation of Zeus, the entire realm has heard his clarion call. Even though we have a month, we must prepare for war as if we do not. I am calling for the mages that have shown they can use magic to report here for training, we must ensure that we use every advantage we have at our disposal." she said as they all cheered. "Go to your packs and assemble your warriors and all able bodies Wolves and ensure they are trained for war. We must begin teaching our young ones what it means to be warriors from a young age, and train them in school. We must change the way we live if we are to survive the coming war. Now return to your packs and sound the horns for war, light the forges and stoke the Smith's, for we March for WAR!" she shouted as all of the Alphas cheered and changed to their wolves, followed by their betas. They quickly emptied the territory, as most of them could cover more ground as a Wolf than any car or even a train.
