Chapter Eight- Mates

1607 Words
Michael and I had just reached the school grounds and as anticipated people were staring and the whispers began. I let out an exasperated sigh and looked up to him "Should've known this would happen. The hot teacher walking to school with the weird new girl."   Michael shot me a smirk as we stopped walking "You think I'm hot?"  I couldn't help but let out a humorless laugh "Have you not seen yourself? Even if we weren't soul mates I'd think you're hot." Before Michael could respond, rough calloused hands grabbed my upper arm and jerked me away from him, causing me to slam into a hard chest. I knew who it was, the tingles that shot up my arm gave him away, but I didn't care. It pissed me off, no one and I mean no one would put their hands on me like that. I quickly turned and threw an uppercut, effectively snapping his lower jaw into his top and throwing him on his ass. I growled my anger causing his eyes to go wide "You put your hands on me again, I believe we've covered this specific topic." I gritted out. Gabriel jumped to his feet completely ignoring me and keeping his eyes on Michael. I could see anger swirling in both their eyes. A fight breaking out between the two would not go over well on school grounds. Gabriel would be expelled and Michael would lose his job, so I stepped in between them taking Gabriel's attention off Michael and onto myself. His eyes softened slightly as he looked at me but his anger was still there "What are you doing with him?" He spat.  I put my hands on my hips and rolled my eyes "What I'm doing is none of your business. You may be my wolf mate but Michael is my soul mate as well, get over it and get used to it because you two are not my only mates. There will be one more." I was aggravated, how many times did I have to explain this? I was beginning to feel like a record put on repeat.  "That's not possible." Gabriel said "You're MINE!"  My anger reared its ugly head at his words and I could feel my wings begging to come out, but I kept them hidden. I didn't however stop some of my power leak through my aura. Gabriel took a stumbling step back and stared at me with wide eyes. My anger however only grew. Storm clouds filled the sky as my body began to levitate. I could feel my eyes change from blue to gold "I belong to no one." I seethed.  Michael quickly stepped towards me and wrapped his arms around my waist pulling me towards him. The feel of his body pressed against my back helped calm me. The storm clouds lingered above but my body returned to the ground and my eyes went back to their vibrant blue. I tilted my head and looked up at him "Thank you Michael." He nodded and trained his eyes back on Gabriel, fury danced in his eyes.  I turned around cupping his face in my hands causing him to look at me "Please calm down love, go to class. I can handle him."  Michael's eyes softened as he caressed my face in his hands "Are you sure?" I  leaned into his touch and smiled "Yes, there is no need for you to get into trouble. Go, I've got this. I'll see you in class." He nodded and placed a soft kiss on my palm before walking away. Looking back to Gabriel I narrowed my eyes "Your wolf and I had an interesting chat last night. Xander believes you're a stupid human who refuses to listen to him. If you would listen to him you'd know, he is now ok with me having other mates. I will not go over this again with you. Talk to your wolf Gabriel then get back to me. And also check your attitude, otherwise I'll reject your cocky ass. I will not have a mate who wants to control me. You may be an Alpha, but you'll never be mine." I said as I walked away.  Gabriel reached out to grab me again but then thought better of it and dropped his hand "Look Ariel, I'm sorry. I never planned on having a mate, I never wanted one. But when I saw you, I knew I'd never want another. I'm not used to having women deny me. And yes I know how that makes me sound. Please just give me a chance, I'll show you I can be different, for you."  He was looking at me with big puppy dog eyes complete with the pouty lip. I laughed at that, I couldn't help it "Fine, just fix your face." I bellowed in between laughs. Gabriel's face lit up as he smiled and jumped to my side.  "Great." he said, grabbing my hand and intertwining our fingers. I looked down at our hands then back up to him, then shrugged and gave his hand a tight squeeze. The tingles that coursed through my body were exhilarating.  "You know this means all those girls that hang all over you better not touch you, and you better not let them." I told him.  Gabriel just shrugged "That's fine, I never had an interest in any of them anyway. That didn't stop them from trying but nothing has ever happened between me or any of them." He assured me.  "Good" I said as we made our way into the school.  How am I supposed to get through the day with both Gabriel and Michael vying for my attention? As of now they agreed to accept each other and accept the fact that I am both their mates. But how long would that last? Will they end up at each other's throat? If this multiple mate thing was going to work they had to bond, they had to get used to each other's presence.  I smiled as an Idea came to me. I sent out a quick text to my dad telling him to steer clear of the house tonight because I was going to have Michael and Gabriel over for dinner. He sent back ok and good luck and I smiled up at Gabriel "Tonight my house. You me and Michael. We are going to spend the night getting to know each other." Gabriel groaned and whined a little but he agreed. I clapped my hands and jumped up and down. "Great, let me go tell Michael."  I took off down the halls to my calculus class where he would be. What I walked in on though made me see red. Michael's face was scrunched in annoyance, his lips in a thin line as he gently tried to push a female teacher away from him. She kept coming back, placing her hands anywhere she could make contact. Rational thought flew out the window when she leaned in and tried to kiss him. I flew into the room, placed my hand squarely in the center of her face and shoved, hard. She flew into a wall, crumpling to the ground in a heap, unmoving. I was seething mad, my breath was coming in quick gasps as my shoulders heaved. My body trembled as I desperately tried to calm myself. But seeing another woman's hands all over my man kept the anger building.  I heard the shuffle of feet around me but I couldn't see who it was, my sole focus was on the heap of slut on the floor. When a pair of large hands cupped my face I jerked away, not caring who it was. But whoever it was placed their hands on my face again, I snapped my eyes to whoever dared touch me and saw Michael. Concern was written all over his face, his lips were moving but no words were registering in my brain. I closed my eyes and shook my head violently trying to clear my red vision and clouds that have taken residence in my head.  "Ariel? Ariel can you hear me?" Michael's voice was frantic. I couldn't get my brain to send words to my mouth, all I could do is nod softly. I heard Michael let out a relieved sigh. "Oh, thank the heavens." He said before pulling me into a bone crushing hug. With Michael's warmth surrounding me I was able to relax against him, the clouds quickly retreating and my vision slowly returning to normal. I wrapped my arms around his torso and held him tight, burying my face in his chest.  "I'm sorry, I don't know what happened." I whispered into his chest.  Michael petted my head and rubbed soothing circles on my back "Sshh Now, It's not your fault. She was touching someone that didn't belong to her and your possessive side came out. It's alright." Michael pulled back, placing two fingers under my chin and tilting my head up to look at him "Everything will be ok, the female teacher will be ok. And we are leaving for the day. Ok?"  I nodded as Michael led me out of his class and through the school. We happened to run across Gabriel on the way and of course he followed. I didn't mind though, having both of them beside me, gave me comfort I never knew I needed. They made me feel safe and cared for. I smiled as I leaned into Michael and grabbed Gabriel's hand. This could be the start of a great thing, or it could be my destruction.
