The minute I spread my wings and took off into the sky with dad, I sensed him. I turned just in time to see the Archangel take off from the trees. I roared my anger, causing trees to sway and Michael and my father to turn to me with wide eyes. I took off leaving my dad behind as I rammed into Michael, causing us both to plummet out of the sky.
Michael took the brunt of the fall, wrapping me in his arms with his wings shielding me, but I felt the impact vibrate through my bones. The pain however didn't faze me, I jumped up glaring at Michael. "How dare you spy on me? What gives you the right?" I asked, throwing a punch that landed square in his jaw. Michael flew several feet back. As he stood up and faced me, my father had landed at my side sending death glares at Michael.
"Michael." He said with no emotion.
Michael looked between us, his eyes wide with fear and shock. "I knew you looked like someone I knew, I just couldn't place it. It has been so long since I've seen Lucifer I couldn't connect the dots. You look exactly like him."
I growled at him "Answer me Michael." My voice came out less menacing than I'd hoped. It came out broken and soft.
Michael looked at me, regret filled his eyes. "Ariel, I'm sorry. My curiosity and need to know everything got the better of me. I never meant to hurt you, I never meant to break your trust." His shoulders slumped and his wings retracted. I could see his face glistening as tears fell from his eyes.
It's funny, he looked exactly how I felt. Broken. My body began to shake as tears filled my own eyes. "How could you? I told you I'd tell you about who my father was in MY TIME!" I screamed. My dad wrapped an arm around my shoulder lending me support as I confronted Michael on his betrayal.
Seeing me in tears Michael tried to come to me but dad quickly stepped in his path blocking me from him. "Not this time Michael. You hurt my daughter, you betrayed her before you could even start a relationship. This mistake can not easily be fixed." He said.
Michael stopped and looked at me "I'm so sorry Ariel. But I want you to know I will keep Lucifer being your father a secret. And by no means does this change how I feel about you. I will never reject you, not even with Lucifer being your father."
That surprised me and caused me to look closer at him. His eyes shone with sincerity. I looked at his aura, his colors had his normal gold, but yellow and purple swirled within it, telling me how sad and truthful he was. I sighed placing a hand on dad's arm giving him a small smile "It's ok dad, I'll speak with him." He nodded and stepped back but did not leave me alone with him. "Thank you dad." I said hugging him.
He wrapped me tightly in his arms "Make him work for it." He whispered in my ear.
I gave a small chuckle "I plan on it."
Turning out of my dad's arms I stepped towards Michael. "You are going to have to work to gain my trust. This betrayal is not something I can easily forgive. We had barely even started a relationship, if you can even call it that. Don't expect me to just jump in your arms and say it is all ok, because it's not."
Michael's expression shone with hope and happiness at me giving him another chance. "I'll do anything Ariel. I'll earn your forgiveness and your trust. I'll do whatever it takes." He said eagerly.
"Good, the first thing you can do is go fly with my father. I'm sure he has a few choice words for you. And his opinion of you means more to me than you'll ever know." I told him.
Michael's body tensed and his face fell slightly. I could hear my father chuckling behind me. "I'll do it." He said with confidence as he stepped towards my father. My dad smiled at me before they both took off into the sky.
Once they were out of range I ran into the house up to my room and locked the door before sliding down the door and breaking into sobs. I hugged my knees to my chest and buried my head between them. How could he do this? I never gave him any reason to doubt me, I had told him I would tell him when the time came. I was straight forward with him. So why did he betray me? It felt like I had been there for hours when someone banged on the door. The bangs were continuous and I rushed down the stairs to see who it was. When I opened the door my body froze in shock. It was Gabriel and he looked scared and worried. "What happened?" he asked breathless, like he had run all the way here.
"How did you know something was wrong?" I asked, trying and failing to make my voice stronger than it was.
Gabriel didn't answer, he just stepped in the house closing the door and took me in his arms. I couldn't help it, I clutched onto him before breaking into sobs once again. Gabriel picked me up and carried me over to the couch putting me on his lap. I buried my face in his neck as he rubbed my back and kept telling me everything would be ok. When my sobs finally slowed I looked at him "Thank you for being here." I whispered.
He smiled wiping tears off my cheek and tucking stray hairs behind my ears. "I'll always be here for you Angel."
I laughed at his nickname. If only he knew. "Do you want to talk about it?" He asked. I took a deep breath before telling him everything, I even told him who my father was because who was I kidding? He had to know at some point.
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner, I just wanted to make sure I could trust you and that you wouldn't tell anyone. If people knew Lucifer was my father I'd be hunted. I am not supposed to exist, Angels' aren't supposed to be able to have kids. I was some sick twist of fate."
Gabriel scowled at my words. "You are not a sick twist of fate. You're a miracle, my miracle. And now you are literally my angel. I don't blame you for not telling me, I understand the danger and I promise your secret is safe with me." Gabriel said smiling.
I beamed at him before crushing my lips onto his. I poured all my feelings into the kiss. Gabriel ran his tongue across my bottom lip asking for entrance which I happily accepted. Our tongues explored each other's mouth as one of my hands caressed his face and the other tangled into his hair. Gabriel's hand on the small of my back pulled me closer to him as his other was on the back of my head deepening the kiss.
We pulled apart, both of us gasping for air. I put my forehead on his and smiled. "Thank you Gabriel." I said and rested my head on his shoulder. He leaned back, both of us just holding each other. Neither one of us wanted to let the other go. The last thing I remember before falling into a deep peaceful sleep was Gabriel kissing my forehead and saying "I love you Ariel."
