Chapter Seventeen- Visitor

"No coffee?" My dad asked looking over the newspaper while humor danced in his eyes.  "No." I said flatly and went to the fridge to pour a glass of orange juice.  My dad chuckled, looking back at his newspaper. My dad was probably the only person who still read a newspaper. They have basically become obsolete over the years. People were moving on to their tablets and smartphones. My dad? Well my dad thinks the newspaper is a great thing that should have never been lost over the years. He thinks people today rely too much on their electronics and that one day they would be useless.  I had to agree on electronics becoming useless. If someone wanted to, and they knew how, they could set off a large EMP and knock out not only cell service but electric cars, television and anything else that ran on electricity. It would be disastrous. People would riot and loot. That's why I try not to rely on my phone too much. I really only used it as a way to get in touch with people, nothing more.  "You ready to go back to school?" Dad asked, pulling me out of my thoughts.  I took a sip of my orange juice and sighed "No, not really.''  Dad looked at me closely before he spoke "Well, you could just continue doing your schooling online. You've been doing it the past several months. And you only have two months left until you graduate." He had a point, but I needed to help Michael in his PE class. He said it was more of a challenge than he thought it would be.  "I can't dad,  you know I need to help Michael. And final exams are soon.  I have to take those on the High School grounds."  Dad folded his newspaper and sat in front of him before walking over to me. "You've been through a lot in the last few months. First you found two of three of your mates. Not to mention finding out you have three mates. You Kill another wolf, you witness Gabriel all but dead laying in the grass and you had a vision that would make the strongest Angel lock himself in a room. Take some time." He urged. I smiled up at him covering his hand with mine. "I can't dad. I need to continue training anyway. Getting that with Michael and Gabriel has pushed me past all my limits. And like you said, it's only two more months. What could happen?' I shrugged.  I could see in his eyes he didn't agree, but he didn't argue with me. He just patted my shoulder lightly and nodded. Dad has always been supportive of me, in everything. He would argue his side vehemently, but he also knew once I made up my mind nothing could stand in my way.  At school, nothing had changed. People still stared and whispered when I walked in, I had to suppress a groan. I had changed my classes to where my PE class was my last period. That way Michael and I could walk home together. It helped pass the time, knowing I would see him at the end of the day.  With that in mind, school passed rather quickly and without many issues. I had to confront several people on their little rumors they didn't think I heard, but other than that it was as normal as any other day.  As I walked through the halls towards the gym a scent caught my attention. It wasn't intoxicating like Gabriel's Campfire and pine. And not as soothing as Michael's lavender and mint, but it still did something to me, something I couldn't place. So I followed the scent. It led me right where I needed to be, the gym.  I barged in scanning the room. No one seemed out of place. Every face looked familiar. That was until  movement in the corner of the room caught my eye. It was just a shadow, lurking in the corner. Or so I thought. The shadow shifted, and in it was a pair of glowing purple eyes. I narrowed my eyes at the shadow and walked towards it. But before I could get to it, it disappeared. I was just gone. No scent, no indication at all that it was there.  Confused I made my way over to Michael  catching his leg mid air as he tried demonstrating a roundhouse kick to a group of students.  "Can I talk to you a minute?" I asked.  "Can I have my leg back?" He countered. I laughed, letting his leg go and walked over to the bleachers to sit down.  "What's wrong?" He asked, drying his face on a towel.  "Did you feel or sense anything off a few minutes ago?" I asked in all seriousness.  Michael scrunched his eyebrows and rubbed the back of his neck as he thought about it. "No, I can't say that I did. Why? Did you?" I nodded curtly and motioned for him to sit. I explained everything. From the smell in the hall, to the lurking shadow with purple eyes. Michael's body tensed with every word I said and his eyes glowed with his Angelic light. "We need to speak with your father. Now." He said standing and dismissing the class early. No one complained as they ran out the door chattering about this and that.  "Michael? What's going on?" I asked him grabbing his arm. His glowing eyes bore into mine intensely. "That shadow, it was the Archdemon Asmodeus. If he is watching you, your father needs to know as soon as possible. He is bad news, he runs the part of hell your father hasn't yet conquered. He is ruthless and has no mercy."  I don't know why, but I couldn't believe that. His scent did not send me into a rage like most foreign smells did. No, this one attracted me, drew me in like a bee to honey. It enticed me. Wait. Could he be my third mate? No! no, no, no it couldn't be. I can't, I won't believe it. But his scent drew me in, his vibrant purple eyes seemed to look into my soul and it didn't repulse me. It made my breathing increase, it made my heart flutter and for butterflies to go haywire in my stomach.  I don't know how it happened or why it did. But what I did know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, My third mate was our hidden visitor. It was Asmodeus, the Archdeamon and second king of hell. Dad was so going to kill me.
