Chapter Eighteen-Asmodeus's POV

1640 Words
I was making my way through Hell"s Door. Same as I always did every few decades, when the most exhilarating smell slammed into me. Apple and Fresh rain. Two different scents you'd never think of mixing, but one that sent a thrill down my spine. I couldn't help but follow the scent. It was everywhere. The pack grounds, the coffee shop, a house on the outskirts of town. But finally stronger at the human High School. It surprised me. Was the bearer of the scent human?  My shadow form easily seeped into the walls. Going from room to room until I stopped in the gymnasium and saw that damned Archangel. The one I've been hunting decades for but could never find. He had been here the whole time. Teaching useless humans and supernaturals combat skills. I laughed, like that would help what was coming. The demons were planning a war. A war on Angels, humans and any other creature that dare stand in our way. We wanted the person who was powerful enough to call all demons and Angels to war. We needed this person to take the other half of hell from that fallen Archangel Lucifer, and we would get this person. Sooner or later they will be ours. I was pulled from my thoughts as that scent once again hit me like a ton of bricks. I quickly looked around until my eyes landed on the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. Her white blonde hair was tied up on top of her head. Her magnificent blue eyes pierced right through me. Wait could she see me?  I got my answer when her eyes narrowed and she made her way across the room to me. I admit I panicked. I took on my spiritual form quickly, hiding myself from view. I watched her as she stopped and scrunched her face in confusion. She lifted her nose in the air slightly smelling for something. Did she smell me too?  She turned away and made her way over to the Archangel as he was demonstrating a roundhouse kick to a group of useless humans. Michael's leg sped around quickly. I was about to step in when she caught the Angels leg mid swing with one hand. Her features never changed as she gave the angel a serious look. "Can I talk to you a minute?" She asked him in a strained voice. The Archangel smirked "Can I have my leg back." When the girl smiled and laughed I almost exposed myself right then and there and begged her to come home with me. Just so I could hear that music everyday. "What's wrong?" The Angel asked her as he cleaned his face. The girl looked at him "Did you see or sense anything off just now?"  The Angels face scrunched up "No. I can't say that I did. Why? Did you?"  The girl gave a stiff nod and motioned for the Angel to sit next to her. My eyes bulged as she described my shadow form perfectly. All the way down to my purple eyes. I don't understand how she saw me. How she smelt me. It didn't make any sense. Even the Archangels couldn't even see me in my shadow form. Michael's body grew tense "We need to speak to your father.Now." He said flatly as he dismissed his pathetic defense class."Michael? What's going on?" the girl asked him, grabbing his arm. His glowing eyes bore into the girls with such intensity I felt a strong urge to protect her. Huh. Well that's strange. Why would I want to protect this girl?  "That shadow, it was the Archdemon Asmodeus. If he is watching you, your father needs to know as soon as possible. He is bad news, he runs the part of hell your father hasn't yet conquered. He is ruthless and has no mercy."  My mouth fell agape. Lucifer was this girl's father? That's not possible Archangels, hell any Angel can't have children. They were supposed to be infertile. I decided to follow them as they made their way up to the roof. They both scanned the area. I guess to make sure no curious kids were watching. Before they both spread their massive wings and launched into the sky. I stared, shocked as the girl and her large black wings disappeared into the cloud filled sky. I couldn't move, I couldn't blink. I was frozen in a mix of fear and shock. The daughter of Lucifer could potentially destroy my side of hell. Demolish my plans to take Lucifer's side of hell. Once the spell was broken I followed the girls scent to the house on the outskirts of town. Flying through the walls I froze. Lucifer was there embracing the girl. "Hey dad. How was your day?" She asked as she forced a smile. Lucifer noticed this though. "Why don't you tell me how your day was Ariel. And why you are so tense." The girl I know knew was named Ariel heaved a sigh. "Well apparently Asmodeus was at the school watching me. I saw this shadow in the corner of the gym and these beautiful purple eyes inside the shadow. He disappeared when he found out I saw him."  "WHAT?" Lucifer shouted, rattling the windows with his rage. "I'm going to kill that little imp." Lucifer seethed. Ariel put a hesitant hand on his forearm causing him to look down to her.  "There is more. But I need you to calm down before I tell you." She said sternly. I could see her body tremble slightly as she tried to make her voice strong.  Lucifer dropped himself into a chair and pinched the bridge of his nose. "Is it worse than what you just told me?" He asked softly. Ariel looked down at her hands as she fumbled with them, nervous to tell him whatever it was.  "Well." She started "I guess it depends on how you look at it." she said softly. "Ariel." Lucifer growled. Something flashed in her blue eyes as she straightened her spine and squared her shoulders. Her slight tremors even stopped.  "I think Asmodeus is my third mate. I could sense it in his scent and could feel the connection when I looked into his eyes." She said boldly.  Time seemed to freeze in that moment. Lucifer stayed deathly still. His eyes opened wide as they turned red and his whole being shook. He stood and spun on Ariel. Causing her to stumble backwards and gasp at his sudden movement. The Archangel who was quite the entire conversation quickly pushed Ariel behind his back and bravely faced Lucifer. "Lucifer, you need to calm down. We knew she would meet her third mate soon. And if you think about it, it makes sense. An Archangel, a werewolf and a demon. Three powerful species for one extremely powerful female. Asmodeus would add much needed protection for Ariel. She is being hunted Lucifer. Her battle cry now have both sides looking for her. Archangel Raphael has already asked me to keep my eyes open for the creature who did it. She needs him Lucifer." Michael tried to reason.  "NO!" He bellowed "Not him, anyone but him." Lucifer demanded.  "You know I can't control it dad." Ariel said softly. I was getting angry. How dare he treat his daughter this way? And apparently my mate. Lucifer roared.  "Run Ariel." Michael said quickly. Just As Lucifer hurled himself toward Ariel she shifted into the most beautiful wolf I'd ever laid my eyes on.  She took off through the door, effectively shattering the glass double doors that led to the back yard. I left Michael and Lucifer to their grappling and followed Ariel. She ran and ran. Only stopping when she came to a small creek. She drank some of the water, then laid on the edge of the water. resting her head on her paws.  I took on my human form and her ears perked and head shot up as she stared directly into my eyes. She shifted to her human form and stared at me. As she took a lung full of air, her eyes widened and started to glow. "It's true." She whispered more to herself than me. I slowly approached her and took her hands in mine. Electrifying tingles shot through me. "It is true." I breathed out.  I never thought I'd have a mate, never mind you a hybrid one. "How are you even here? You're an impossible hybrid." I said. She dropped her hands from mine and looked down.  "I know. I'm not supposed to exist. But, here I am. I am an unknown. My existence is unknown and my conception is unknown. And I'd very much like to keep it that way." She said.  "How do you plan on doing that?" I asked out of pure curiosity.  "Well the only people that know what I am is my mother and father and all three of my mates. Unless you plan on telling, I should be safe."  I grabbed her hands once again causing her to look up at me. "You and your secret is safe with me. I would never, and I mean never let anyone or anything hurt my other half." I told her as sincerely as possible.  Ariel gave me a bright beaming smile "Your eyes are so beautiful." She whispered caressing my face. I closed my eyes and leaned into her. Her touch both soothed and energized me. I covered her hand with mine, bringing it up to my lips, I kissed her knuckles softly. I would never let this go. Her touch, her smile, her laugh. All of her has suddenly become my entire universe, like she was now the gravity that held me here. And no one would take my gravity away.
