It was quiet in the kitchen as my question seemed to hang in the air, waiting for a response. Finally, Detective Byrd gave a slight nod and turned to Kayla.
“Okay, let's explore Mac’s question. Do you know of anyone who has expressed signs of disapproval about your affair with David?”
“I don’t think so. I honestly don’t think anyone knows about it. We’ve been extremely careful—”
“Somebody always knows or sees something. No matter how hard you try to hide it, Mrs. Jones.”
“I can’t think of anyone, not off the top of my head. I’m barely taking in all that has been happening.”
