I took two seconds to put a face with the name. Darlene Sampson. Then I remembered why her name was familiar. I had met her the day before when we were at one of the parks. She hadn’t come across as crazy or desperate. If anything, she was concerned about Tommy. But vaguely, like a friend of a friend would be, not a passionate concern.
I gave myself a mental slap on the head. Of course, she wasn't overly concerned. She knew exactly where Tommy was. She knew he was safe because she had him tucked away where no one else could find him.
