Several days later, the administration announced the varsity coach was leaving at the end of the school year. Sam went to the other players and told them she wanted to have a meeting. All the girls who were on the varsity team and would probably would be on next year’s team gathered in a classroom. Sam stood up and began to speak, “You all now know that the varsity coach is leaving and I cannot think of a better replacement for him than Ms. Hamm. I think that we should demand that she is the new head coach of varsity team. Does anyone have any objections?”
She went to sit down when one of the other players asked, “Who made you the boss of this team? You aren’t even on the team yet.”
