Chapter 9

"You hurt people," I said coldly. The ghost was about to speak when I smashed it against a large rock, causing it to disappear into thin air. The other ghosts gasped. I immediately grabbed two ghosts emerging from the water to attack me. They were also black ghosts. They turned to ash, thanks to Zian, who was holding a holy sword capable of vanquishing ghosts. "Let's go, we should leave this river before more attack," he said. We started walking. "How did you know?" Zian asked. "Oh no! That woman is scary. Can they see us?" whispered one ghost. "Maybe it was just a fluke earlier," another ghost murmured. We kept our eyes on the path. "We just felt it," Crimson lied. "Ah, thank you," Zian said. We nodded. Suddenly, we saw ghosts running towards us. "AAAHH! Here they come again. The Sinister will take us over!" the ghosts panicked. We were puzzled. Especially when we saw black ghosts capturing other ghosts. "Uhmm, Zian, you go ahead," I said. "Huh? Why?" he asked. "Uhmm, it's for girls only," Sharlene replied. He nodded in understanding. "I get it. Come back soon. Here's a map in case you get lost," he said, giving each of us a map. We nodded and he walked away until he was out of sight. "Make a holy weapon. It's the only thing that can defeat them," I said. Using our light powers, we created holy weapons. Crimson made a holy sword. Sharlene made a holy whip. I made several holy knives and a holy bow. We turned our backs to each other. The ghosts here were trembling while the Sinister ghosts were laughing. Two male ghosts looked at us in confusion. I quickly ran to their position as a Sinister ghost was behind them. They ducked. I kicked the Sinister, sending it flying, and threw a knife into its chest, turning it to ash. "Be careful," I said. Their eyes widened. "You... you can see us?" one of them asked in shock. They were standing up. I grabbed him by the neck and ducked, hitting the Sinister in the throat with a knife, making it disappear. "You... you can touch us?!" he asked, stunned. "Tsk. Isn't it obvious?!" I said, shooting other Sinister ghosts in the head with my bow. They were still in shock. This bow can shoot five arrows at once. "Humans! Someone is ruining our plan!" shouted a Sinister. I shot it in the head, making it disappear. I threw a knife at another Sinister, and it vanished. "Why don't you fight them?!" I asked while shooting arrows. "We tried, but nothing happened!" one replied. "Seriously. Now that we're helping, you're not fighting?" I said. They snapped out of it. I teleported to an old ghost protecting some ghost children from a Sinister. I grabbed his whip and pulled it away. Using a knife, I slit his throat and stabbed his chest, making him vanish. "Find a safe place," I said. They nodded in shock and ran away. Crimson, Sharlene, and I regrouped. I put down my bow and took out my knives. We were close to defeating them all. I let three Sinisters chase me. They were right behind me, with a tree in front of me. I walked up the tree and did a backflip, landing behind them. I punched and stabbed them in the chest. I saw a young ghost girl being held by a Sinister. I teleported and the girl was dropped. This Sinister was male, and he seemed to be their leader. "Run, child!" I shouted, and she ran away. I prepared myself. He glared at me and pulled out a black whip, wrapping it around me. I dropped my knife. Shit! I'm empty-handed. He pulled me close and pointed a sharp object at my neck, making me look up. "Not bad for a Firisian," he sneered. I controlled the sharp object at my neck and pointed it at him. I smirked. He was shocked and his aura darkened. He tightened the whip around me. I teleported behind him and kicked him. He grabbed onto a tree. I took the opportunity and tied him to the tree with his own whip. "I'll be back for you," I said with a smirk. He struggled against the bindings. I went to help the others. The ghosts were now on the sidelines. We were surrounded by about ten Sinisters. I readied my knives. I teleported in front of them, turning them to ash. More surrounded us. Crimson slashed them with his holy sword, turning them to ash as well. The remaining Sinisters started running away. Sharlene quickly caught them with her whip and crushed them. Only the leader by the tree was left. I approached him as he freed himself from the bindings. He was swallowed by darkness into the ground. "I found an interesting piece... until we meet again," he said before disappearing. They were all gone. We put away our weapons. We faced the stunned ghosts. We snapped our fingers. They came to their senses and bowed, thanking us one by one. We nodded. "Wait, you could see us all along?" one ghost asked. "Then why did you pretend?" another asked. "Leave them be. The important thing is they helped us," an old male ghost said. They all nodded. "Thank you, ma'am," a young girl said with a smile. We didn't smile, just nodded. "As a token of our gratitude, you can take my children with you," an old female ghost said. Huh? What would we do with them? "You can make them your servants or whatever you need," she added with a smile. Three male ghosts stepped forward. "They are ghost guardians. From now on, they are your guardians. You can name them," another old ghost said. The three male ghosts approached us. They were quite handsome, even in death. Ghost guardians, huh? "Thank you," Crimson said. He spoke calmly to them. We heard Killian calling us. "You should go, they seem to be looking for you. Thank you again." "THANK YOU!!" they shouted. We nodded and turned away. The three ghosts followed us silently. They were quiet. They stood as tall as us. "Where did you come from?" Alan asked. "We're leaving. The carriage is fixed. We don't want to be caught in the dark," Zian said. "There are many thirsty ghosts at night," Damian said. "Ah, okay," we replied. They got into their carriage. We got into ours. The three ghosts were in front of us. "Don't you have names?" Sharlene asked. They shook their heads. "Okay, you are my ghost guardian. I will call you Ghosper. Call me Sharlene or Yellow," she said. "You are mine. You will be Ghomin. Call me Red or Crimson," Crimson said. He nodded. "Okay, I'll call you Gholyx. Call me X or Blue," I said. They all had white hair and ash-gray eyes. "You don't need to be formal. Just treat us as friends," Sharlene said. They nodded. I stared at Gholyx. Nice! If he were alive, he'd be a heartthrob. Even without fair skin, he had a mole near his lower lip. "Are you related?" Ghosper asked. "We're triplets," I answered. "You are the only ones who can see and talk to us. Thank you for saving them earlier," Ghomin said. Curiously, they never smiled. Their faces were blank. "How did you become ghosts? How did you die?" Crimson asked. "We're not dead yet. We were cursed, and our bodies were hidden by a dark witch, so we can't return," Ghosper said. "And she took our emotions," Gholyx added. Ah, that's why their faces are blank. Even their eyes showed no emotion. "How can you break the curse?" I asked. "We don't know," Ghomin replied. "The witch didn't say," Gholyx added. "Oh, so if you are our guardians, you will always follow us?" Sharlene asked. They nodded. "Okay, wake me up when we arrive," I said. "Let's sit together," Sharlene said, so Crimson moved, and Gholyx sat next to me. Ghosper and Ghomin sat next to them. I leaned my head against the window, but Gholyx placed my head on his shoulder. "Sleep on my shoulder. You'll just get a crick in your neck," he said. I didn't argue. I closed my eyes and fell asleep. ... I woke up to someone tapping my cheek. I opened my eyes, and Gholyx's face was close. Why is he so close? "Why?" I asked. He moved away. I looked at Crimson and Sharlene, who were looking outside. I followed their gaze. Whoa! The town looked beautiful from here. We were close. We got off the carriage. We were inside the border, probably Border II. Two guards greeted us. "Welcome. You must be the ones the Supreme mentioned," one of them said. "I am the High Supreme of Border II," he said. The five of us sat down. "Follow me," he said. We followed. Lucian and the others stayed behind. We heard noise as we approached. We entered and saw people having a good time, some even engaging in indecent activities. Get a room... "WHAT IS THIS?!" the High Supreme shouted angrily. They stopped their revelry. "GET OUT OF HERE!" he shouted again, and they all left until only five women and two men remained. The two men were sitting with women on their laps, kissing them. Wow! No shame. The five women were embracing men. "LEAVE MY CHILDREN ALONE! GET OUT!!" the Supreme shouted again, and they finally left.
