No Humans Allowed
An unforunate but common sign in some werewolf communities. She winces, her favorite store with exotic spices and her favorite goods had the ugly sign.
An Asian woman comes out, her good friend, Chrissy. "I'm so, so sorry Emma." She sighs,
Chrissy was a rare kitsune, a were-fox.
"What happened?"
She winces "A werewolf attacked a human customer." She looks around "We- think it was a rouge." She said lowly
She gasps Rouges were packless wolves, vicious to their core. They killed indiscriminately. Did Aiden know about this? she wonders
"It just happened. It- was so random, and suddenly this rouge shifted, and attacked the human. Be really, really glad you were not there for it. It was pretty grusome."
"Oh, yeah. For sure." She nods "But are you okay?"
"Yeah, yeah I mean it was so weird, the guy seemed to be in a trance or something and just like, snapped."
"What were they after?" Emma asked
"Something about a stone. I don't know the wolf was nuts." She flips her long black hair back, she crosses her arms "Bosses say its temperorary until the get the rouge."
"Weird I didn't even hear about it on the news."
"They- don't want panic so they're just keeping low profile. I guess. This is the first attack in forever here."
"Right, so that's weird." Emma agrees. Well drat, she'd have to find a new supermarket
"Is that your list? I can grab the things, and you can just pay me." Chrissy says
"Oh-" She hands over the list "Yeah here, thanks."
Chrissy nods and gets her items.
Well shoot. She sighs. It was sometimes like that, but she didn't blame wolves one bit.
Chrissy comes out "Here."
Emma hands her the cash.
"And I am really sorry."
"Don't worry about it, I mean its safety right?"
She nods "By the way- how are you off midday?"
"Oh Alpha Aiden gave me off today."
"Wow, he's in a good mood." Chrissy nods her head
She shrugs, their Alpha was known for having a temper and hotblooded attitude. He was hard to read at times, but over the years She's gotten used to reading his moods and how to avoid the bad sides.
"I hear they're doing an engagement party."
Emma's heart twinges at that. "Yeah don't remind me, the Queen B, has been very demanding and juggling work, and her s**t on top of everything else."
"Why don't you leave?" "She treats you so badly, and its only going to get worse once she is Luna." Chrissy says with concern
Emma presses her lips together. "I- have been thinking about it, it's just- I would feel bad for leaving him." She admits
"Where would you go?" Chrissy asked
"Probably Ice City, my foster brother lives there."
"Koda right?"
She nods, they grew up in a foster home together for two years, that was until the Alpha's of Aurora Pack retrieved him. His parents died suddenly of an illness that plauged the wolf community. It was bad and last for two years. So many wolves died.
"Well, I'm sure Aiden will miss you." Chrissy offers
She snorts, miss her? a human? "Riiight." "I'm just a human assistant, I'm not fancy or-"
"Hey don't lower yourself like that." Chrissy tsks
"And sides, anyone can see Aiden cares about you."
Emma gives her a 'yeah right!' look.
"No, He's just a good boss is all." She said dismissively
"You don't notice it? everyone does, Emma. He's so different with you."
"Don't let Amber hear you say that, she will throw a fit. Almost did today with him being nice to me."
"Amber is just insecure. She feels threatened by you. She's a horrible person with attitude. A blonde bimbo- no offense."
"None taken." She had blonde hair "But can't even be in the same category as that."
She sighs, "Anyway, drinks later?"
Chrissy nods "Take care of yourself, and watch out for that rouge." She warns
She nods and heads back to her apartment.
It was a cozy, industrial style loft. Her bedroom was on the loft that overlooked the livingroom and kitchen. Wood cladded ceilings with wood beams, a decent sized kitchen, and living space with large windows to let the sun in. She flips on the news, blah blah blah Aiden's engagement to Amber, who was a lucrative model. She really could pass for the werewolf version of Paris Hilton. Then there it was, news of the rouge attack.
She winces, Aiden would not be happy.
Meanwhile-
Aiden indeed. Was not Happy. He slams his fist down. His brother winces. His brother was three years younger, a bit more level headed and logical, a good stratgeic person. He never thought with his emotions and was calm in most situations. Which is why as much as Aiden didn't want to admit, He needed him.
"How! did this happen!" Aiden growls out
His brother winces again. "They think the pass was a fake."
Pack passes were ID's given to werewolves indicating what pack you belonged to, Humans had regular ID's. Werewolve's were sometimes also branded. Moon Glow pack's symbol was the triple moon goddess. Homage and symbolic to the lunar goddess.
"Have they found anything?"
"Uhm No, but the cashier said he was chanting something repeatedly and looked like it was a trance."
He thinks for a moment, "What did the rouge say?"
"It just chanted Reika, rekia....stone.Then they snapped."
Aiden sighs deeply. "Shit."
His brother looked irritable and stressed. "Are you stressing over the engagement party or the rouge attack?"
He looks at him blankly "The- what?"
"Engagement party. For you and Amber. Amber is insistant on it. Come on man, you didn't know?"
He groans, he completely forgot!
"She's doing you a favor, you've been dating for a year, or whatever, and I think this is her way of saying 'you better put a ring on me' " Blaze says
He rubs his face with his hands, Fernir help him.
"You, don't want to marry Amber?" His brother reads his thoughts
"No, I should, right? I'm not a young pup anymore." He grunts
The s*x was only satisfying his urges, despite she was not his true mate.
"She's not even your mate. What are you doing?" His brother shakes his head
"Well when my mate comes, let me know."
"Can't believe you still haven't." Blaze says shaking his head "In this entire city."
His brother gives him a sharp glare. Drop it. "The Elders have been hounding me for a mate. I am not a pup anymore."
"So they'd rather you not have a mate and just have a back up mate. That's nice." Blaze snorts.
"Yeah well. They've been circling me like a hawk since Dad left us this place." "I think they're just waiting for me to fail and step down."
"Hey man, don't do that to yourself." Blaze says "Dad would be proud."
Aiden swallowed thickly, he was killed by Ace during that dark period in time for all the packs, had it not been for the human witch to bind him, he would've still ran rampant.
"Anyway, at least use the party as an excuse to get ridculously smashed."
"Find a ring, high quality, otherwise Amber will just b***h anyway."
He groans. He thinks his brother is making a huge mistake. "All right. But if you need an out just say the word."
Aiden knew, she wasn't right for him. She was underminding as hell, treated everyone beneath her like they were low value. He wasn't blind to what she was like. But who else was there?
His mate was no where near him, he couldn't go out looking for her. He sighed, he was in a destined doomed relationship it seemed.
Amber Everly, would be his Luna. Fernir Help Him.
