After having dinner with her grandparents and avoiding their constant nagging about her moving into the Montague main mansion,. Leah left and went to her apartment. She collapsed on the bed, and just as she was about to go to sleep, her phone rang. “Hello?” She mumbled, her eyes closing slightly. “Leah, are you up?” The quiet voice of Isabella came through the phone. “Yes, what's wrong? Are you alright? Is your brother alright?” Leah asked; she was no longer exhausted after hearing the voice of her friend. “He is fine, but my parents are having trouble finding the assassin; apparently all the cameras have been whipped out, leaving no traces of the assassin,” Isabella explained. “For him to nearly succeed in harming your brother and whipping out all the cameras within the vicinity, it's proof he is not a simple man." Leah frowned, getting up from her bed and walking to her table to turn on her computer. “I know, my parents were thinking about hiring a private investigator, but they aren't sure who to trust, and my other brother wanted to use his resources, but we are all afraid about the media and the people that wanted to harm him finding out about his condition and taking advantage of it.” Isabella sighed at the situation at hand. The Delacroix family, unlike others, was not built on the foundation of having old roots. Their connection was far beyond that; a few generations ago, they were solely involved in the underground world. They had a mafia background since the beginning of time, and it was until recently that they ventured into the light through the business world and became the sole head of the business world during the reign of Isabella's grandfather. “It's been a while since I last spoke with him, but I can contact Liam and see if he will be able to dig anything up." Leah said that after a long pause, she placed the phone on speaker and immediately texted him. “Oh, of course, how could I have possibly forgotten about Liam?” Isabella gasped. Although she wasn't as close to him as Leah,. “I haven't spoken t “I haven't spoken to him in ages; I wonder if he will still remember me,” Isabella said as she reminisced about their high school days. “Of course he still remembers you; you know he will remember anyone who is filthy rich." Leah chuckled at the memory of when she and Liam first met. “He is not replying to my messages, which means he is probably playing a game. I will call you back after I contact him,” Leah said and hung up the call. She then dialled Liam's number, which he picked at the third ring. “Did I disturb you?” Leah asked him. “Any phone call is considered a disturbance,” Liam chided. "Oh, please, you flatter me too much; I actually have a task for you; are you free right now?”. Liam rolled his eyes at her words: "Well, it depends on how much you are willing to pay me." Leah let out a burst of laughter. “You sound just like an escort lady.” “And you are the old man I'm escorting,” Liam replied childishly. “I'm surprised you are calling me. How long has it been since you needed my help? Three years?”. Three years ago, as Liam said those words, Leah remembered the last time she had sought his help, which was to help find any incriminating evidence against Carolina. “This time I actually have a very important task for you, trust me,” Leah replied after chiding herself at the memory of her horrible past. “So what's this new mission you need my help with?” he asked, suddenly becoming serious. Leah also became serious: “I need you to help me track down a van that ran into a black Maybach; investigate every little thing you can find about the van.” Liam was surprised at what she was asking him to do: “So how much do you intend to pay me?” "Well, state your price.” “One million,” Liam boldly replied. “The price is fine with me, but are you okay, Liam? Is there something I should know?” She asked, pulling out her laptop to wire him the money. Liam was quiet because he didn't know how to explain his predicament to her. Seeing his obvious reluctance, Leah decided not to press further. “It's fine if you don't want to tell me; I have sent the money to you," she quietly said. "Okay, I will get started on it; it should be done by tomorrow,” Liam replied, immediately getting into it. "Alright, have a goodnight,” Leah said, and she hung up the phone. She immediately texted Isabella to inform her of the details of her call with Liam, and the result would be ready the next day. [Thank you so much, Leah; I will treat you to a treat next time.]. Leah smiled at her friend's response: "Alright I will hold you accountable for that. They both said good night to each other, and Leah went back to bed. Leah was not aware of the changes that would come into her life tomorrow.
