Leah was once again woken up by her phone. She picked it up and glanced at the time, seeing that it was only 8am. She groaned, wondering why everyone couldn't let her sleep peacefully.
“Hello?....” She groggily answered.
“Why didn't you pick up on the first ring? Did you have to wait until the last ring? And don't tell me you are still in bed." Isabella’s voice came from the phone.
“It seems the big shot is so lonely that she counted how many rings,” Leah teased her.
“Because this big shot has made it big, she has a lot of untrustworthy friends, so she holds on shamelessly to the only trustworthy one,” Isabella replied.
Leah laughed at her shamelessness. “I'm guessing you need someone to go to brunch with?”.
"No, actually, I'm not hungry. I'm on my way to Ciity Hospital, and I want you to come and meet me here. My brother is finally awake, and I want you to visit him with me." She replied while getting into her private car.
Leah was confused at her request: “And why should I tag along?” She was a bit suspicious; she hoped Isabella wasn't trying to set her up with her brother.
“You have to tag along because you donated your blood to save his life, so you are his saving grace,” Isabella replied.
“Saving grace? Oh, please,” she rolled her eyes. “All I did was sit down and let a drip pass through my hand; it's the doctors that saved his life."As she was talking, she was already getting dressed to leave the house.
“But you came first." Isabella retorted
“Huh? What does that even mean?" Leah furrowed her eyebrows at Isabella's words.
“Even though you graduated from Harvard, you seem to not be able to understand things easily, my dear Leah. I'm saying if you hadn't given your blood, the doctors would have had nothing to work with.
So you came first in saving his life, so you should be there.”.
Leah felt defeated by the crazy logic Isabella was rambling about: “Alright, I will be there, happy?”.
“Hmph, I'm always right; I'm pulling up at the hospital, so text me when you get there,” Isabella said.
"Okay, I'll see you later”
Leah hung up the call and went to the bathroom to shower and get dressed. After exiting her apartment, she hailed a cab and told him where to take her.
After a few minutes, she arrived at the hospital. She got down after paying and dropped a huge tip for the driver.
She walked into the hospital and walked up to the reception. “Hi, what floor is the VIP room located on?” she asked one of the nurses who exchanged glances with her partner.
"Oh, don't worry, I'm a friend of the patient's sister,” she tried to assure them.
The nurse examined Leah's dressing, and seeing as she matched the persona of the person in the VIP room status, she answered her, “I'm sorry, ma'am, but I can't disclose the room they are in, but I can tell you that all the VIP rooms are located on the 13th floor.
"Okay, thank you." Leah knew the lady was only doing her job, so she didn't make things more difficult for her. She got into the elevator and figured she would just call Isabella if she couldn't find the room.
She got out of the elevator, and luckily for her, she saw Isabella sitting on one of the chairs in the corridor.
“Why are you sitting here, Bella?” Leah asked while walking up to her.
Isabella looked up after hearing the familiar voice. “I was waiting for you; I knew you might not be able to find your way to the room.” She walked up to her and hugged her.
The hug lasted for a while before they both separated and made their way to the room. When the guards standing at the door saw Isabella and Leah, they politely opened the door and let them in.
Immediately, the door was open. Leah felt like she had stepped into Antarctica. She looked towards the bed and saw an incredibly handsome but daunting-looking man.
His eyes were fierce, their colour darker than ink and night itself. The aura he exuded was chilly, dark, and terrifying. But despite his intimidating vibe, Leah found him handsome; he had thin lips, a tall nose, and a jawline so sharp it could cut through paper.
“Ugh, brother, why the bad mood?” Isabella sighed, placing her purse down.
He scowled, his eyes blazing with annoyance. “Maybe it's because of these damn handcuffs.”.
Leah was surprised to hear how smooth and deep his voice was. She stood by the doorway, unsure whether or not she should enter.
“If I didn't handcuff you, you would have left the moment you woke up, and then your body wouldn't get better.” Isabella’s words were caught short when her brother threw her a soul-piercing glare.
“I'm perfectly fine; I don't need extra treatment,” he replied, his lips pulling to an unpleasant line. “Unlock the handcuffs." His fierce voice was so commanding that it took every fibre in Isabella to reject him.
"No,” Isabella stubbornly rejected.
“It wasn't a suggestion.” His voice became more terrifying.
See how terrified her friend was. Leah decided to interfere. “Don't be so rude; she is only looking out for you.”.
Rafael's eyes shifted to Leah. He wasn't actually surprised by her presence; he already knew she would be there, giving her closeness to his sister.
He also knew about her dark past with Tristan, but he was surprised by her daring temper and charisma. Was she not afraid of him?
She was a very beautiful woman; unlike most women her age, she didn't dress scandalously; she was dressed formally, and everything about her screamed independence. He wondered why Tristan would leave her for that low class.
“I didn't invite you into this conversation; get out." His voice was cold and ruthless.
