Isabella and Leah sat down in the couch in the room talking and trying to pass away time , when Leah's phone rang, she looked at it and realised it was her mother calling.
Isabella noticed Leah's odd reaction so she peeped at her phone and understood why her mood changed, “Pick the call Leah , let's hear what she has to say”.
Leah answered the call and her mother's loud voice was heard immediately “What took you so long to pick my call and why have you been ignoring me texts”.
“Mother I was preoccupied with something so I haven't checked my phone” Leah checked her phone and realised is was on Do Not Disturb, she turned it off and it was instantly flooded with messages.
“Preoccupied with what?, it doesn't matter, your family should come first you brat”
Isabella was angry just by listening to how Leah's mother spoke to her, she could never remember a time she spoke nicely to her .
“What do you want mother, I don't have all day” Leah asked .
“Now you are cutting me off, well I wanted to confirm if you will be attending your sister's birthday banquet”
“No I w…..” Leah was cut off by Isabella who collected the phone , “Yes she will be there” Isabella hung up the phone returning it to Leah.
Leah could not believe Isabella just did that, ‘Bella why are you throwing me Into the Lion's den?”
Isabella just smiled, and it made Leah more anxious, she didn't like it whenever Isabella smiled like that, “What nonsense is going through that head of yours”.
“its not nonsense, we both know that Tristan will be at the banquet and he will definitely bring that witch, and you have to go with someone who can beat him in terms of status and wealthy and I happen to have another brother who is not on the hospital bed and who has both wealth and status” Isabella was excited at her genius plan.
“No way Isabella, your brother is known as a big time player and what makes you think he would agree to go with me”
“Because you just saved the life of the one person he respects the most so he definitely will agree , don't worry Leah” Isabella reassured her.
“ I'm not so sure about this” Leah said.
“Well too late because I already sent him a text and guess what he agreed” Isabella showed Leah the text she sent her brother and he said sure I can take her.
After getting cornered by Isabella, Leah left the hospital to mentally prepare herself for the upcoming banquet , she realised it was still in the early afternoon so she went for a little window shopping, eat lunch at a cute cafe and visited a book store .
It was already getting dark when she was done so she decided to go back home , she was about to hail a cab when something caught her attention.
It was an elderly woman right across the street, she walked up to her after buying a pair of hand warmers.
“Good evening ma’am” she politely greeted the woman .
Leah was surprised to see freshly grown vegetables, it seems the woman was selling them.
“Good evening young lady” the woman smiled reaveling fine lines of wrinkle of an aged grandmother.
“It's quite cold outside, this should keep you warm” Leah handed her the hand warmers.
The lady collected it with a smile “Oh thank you very much my dear, I didn't think youngsters this days were polite” she brightly said placing a few of the vegetables in a nylon to give to Leah.
“No no ! that's not necessary” Leah hurriedly said but the woman just placed more vegetables for her, seeing as she won't take no for an answer,
Leah decided to buy the vegetables and extra more, she might as well pay a visit to her grandparents and cook something for them.
“it seems you have a big family” the woman asked Leah.
“No I don't my grandparents just love eating organic and locally grown food, they say its much healthier” Leah replied.
“They aren't wrong, it is indeed healthier” the woman said
Leah left after paying for it , she felt something was suspicious about the woman but she didn't pay much attention to it.
The entire time , Leah didn't notice someone staring at her from across the street, He had been watching her since she went to the store to get the hot packet .
He was surprised to see her talk to the old woman, was she really Leah?, the Leah he knew always felt elderly people weLeahre stressful to conversate with.
“Sir you shouldn't stand outside for too long it getting extremely cold” his secretary reminded him.
The man watching Leah was Tristan Beaumont, he was on his way to pay a visit to Rafael in the hospital when he spotted and decided to stay and watch what she was doing.
“Fine let's go” he turned back and got Into the car.
The secretary got in as well “Also we just got an invitation to the Montagues Family daughter banquet dinner…”
“Just send them a gift” he said not allowing her to finish talking.
“ But the missus already showed interest in going”
“Then we will go” he replied immediately, he and Carolina had an argument recently and she was very angry at him, he hoped this will help him appease her .
