She elected to leave one eye open. She found she was able to do that and still sleep. Her dragon brain, taking in her will to be safe, activated the proper channels to make this happen.
Assa was proud of her dragon brain. It was like an elaborate toy she could order at will. It often did exactly what she wanted. Not always, since she sometimes wanted things that dragons could not do, but often enough that she didn’t think she ever wanted to give up her dragon self.
Her final thought before sleep was of her parents. The last time she saw them they were eating a dragon. Roasting it. What would they think of her being a dragon for the rest of her life?
