The next day Nick woke up really early he had an appointment with the security term at where the murder took place, he was going to watch the CCTV footage with Perry. On walking into Lian's room he could see his friend in a slow motion wearing his clothes, it was obvious the he was having second thoughts about going to work due to what happened at the party.

" You know you can just skip work if you don't want to go, besides you need to start your preparation for your new job" Nick voiced, pulling Lian's from his room of thoughts.

" I have to go, I still have to complete working there till the end of the month and my new job starts in two months time" he said slowly putting the buttons on his shirt.

" You know clearly well that Lucas would mind if you skipped a day, I'm sure he gave you a day off for your birthday, he always does that"

" That's right, he did say something like that yesterday in the cafe" he said with a smile

" Whatever just calm down and stay here, you need to start putting your things in order, as for me I'm off to work, I have an important appointment" he informed before walking off.

Lian laid on his bed with his eyes closed breathing a sigh of relief, his mind had been running on how he would avoid Lucas at the cafe but his relaxation was cut short as his phone rang, his mum was the one displayed on a screen causing him to immediately picked up the call

" Hello mum...." he said but before he could say anything further he could hear her sobbing from the other end of the line, fear immediately crept into Lian " Mom! what's wrong?" he asked immediately sitting on his bed

" Your dad, he he he had an heart attack" she finally said stuttering. Lian's heart sunk into his stomach, it felt like he couldn't believe what he was hearing but he had to be strong and support his mum.

" Don't cry I'm on my way" he said hanging up the call and jumping up on his feet, immediately packing the stuff he needed into a little bag and hanging it around his show that this was an urgent call.

Mostly immediately he dialled Nick's number

" Hey why are you calling me this early, do you miss me?" Nick said

" Nick! Dad" Lian said

" Calm down, what happened?"

" He had an heart attack and I don't know the state he's in" he said in a tone which was getting Nicholas worried

" s**t! do you want me to come drive you, I could leave work now"

" No! I just wanted to inform you that I'm going home, there is no need for you to come I can manage on my own"

" After work I'm definitely dropping by and Lian don't worry he's going to be fine" Nick reassured

" I know it but I can't help but worry, mom was crying when she called"

" I'm sure she in shock thats all, trust me nothing serious is going to be happening" Nick encouraged trying to uplift Lian's spirit.

Lian begin his journey still on the phone with Nick, he opened the door ready to move

" I wish you a safe trip and make sure you keep me posted on what's going on" Nick voiced before hanging up the call.

Lian had tears gathered in his eyes, he was too engrossed in his emotions to notice the man standing in front of his door.

" Lian" Lucas called out in a gentle voice. Lian was startled at the sound of his voice, he wasn't expecting to see anyone outside.

" What's wrong?" He asked in concern as the tears which he gathered for long began to fall.

Lian had his head leaned against the window of Lucas's car as he drove, Lian loved his father even though they haven't had the best of relationships but he did not want anything to happen to him.

" He's going to be just fine" Lucas encourage as he drove looking occasionally at Lian's direction to ensure he was fine.

Lian was still quiet wondering what state his father was in, when they got to the hospital he immediately rushed in while Lucas looked for a parking space for his car.

" Please, I'm here to see Mr Brock Leslie" he called out as he stepped in front of the reception speaking to the nurse at the front desk.

" He's in the ICU on the fifth floor" she responded, Lucas caught up with Lian while he was at the front desk.

They both got into the elevator going up, at each floor Lian could feel his heart beat faster and louder before the got to the 5th floor. The elevator popped up, they both came down rushing off to the ICU, Lian used his eyes to search for his mother but still couldn't find her.

" Lian!" his mother called out as she saw him searching, she was sitting in front of the intensive care unit

" Mum" he said rushing towards her

" Where is he?" He inquired hugging her at the same time

" He's in the ICU, we haven't heard anything from his doctors" she said still sobbing

" Don't worry he's going to be alright" Lian said still holding her to himself, she was also a sort of support to him even though he knew he was a bigger one for her

" I hope so I can't imagine my life without him, this would make me lose another important person in my life again" she cried hold on to him tighter than before.

" Shhhh! Nothing like that will happen, everything is going to be fine. nothing will happen to him" he said patting her in the back, trying to give her some sort of comfort.

Almost immediately the door of the ICU was open and the doctor came out

" Are you Mr Brocks family?" he addressed

" Yes" they both Lian and his mother answered as they disconnected from the hug turning to face the doctor.

" Doctor, how is he now?" his mum asked still worried

" All I can say is Mr Brock is a very strong fighter, he had a very strong blow but he is out of danger and he will be transferred to the normal Ward. For now all we have to do is to observing him but his condition is stable and better than before" he informed them before taking his leave.

" I told you he's going to be just fine" Lian whispered holding his mother's hand.

After Lian's father was transferred into a normal Ward his mum proceeded to see him while he and went in search of Lucas, the last time he set eye on him was when the doctor was addressing them on his father condition.

" I've been looking for you everywhere" he said as he met Lucas at the reception sitting

" I didn't want to disturb your little family moment" Lucas said as he watched Lian take a seat beside him

" I'm sorry for taking you out of your way and bringing you all the way here" he said taking his eye to the ground

" It's all good, I want to actually be here, I want to be there for you and I will always be here for anything you need" he said turning to look at Lian and with a supporting smile

" Thank you" Lian appreciated as he lifted his head to face Lucas, indeed Luca had always been there

" I'm sorry about yesterday as well" he added another apology " I was shocked and didn't expect you to make such kinds of conversion, I actually did not know how to reply or what to say to you and that's why I went all quiet" he tried explaining, he wanted to let Lucas understand the reasons for his reaction the previous night.

" And that's why you also skipped work today?" Lucas asked to just to confirm

" Yes" Lian answered embarrassed " I just couldn't think of a good way to face you after not telling you anything. I was assuming you would be mad at me"

" Why would I be mad, I told you what I told you because I felt like telling you about my feelings and I felt a bit relieved after telling it you. it has been a secret I've been caring for almost 4 years but now I think it was time to let it go" he said with a smile still looking at Lian.

Lian came to the realisation of what Nicholas has been saying, Lucas has been here for him all the time and is ready to support him through anything.

" I guess we good now?" Lucas asked

" Yes"

" No more awkward feeling?"

" No more awkward feeling" Lian said with a smile.
