“Seraphina, tell me what happened. Ever since you came back from Lucius's place, you’ve been like this.”

I sighed and turned away from her, staring out the window. “Nothing happened, Shera. Just leave me alone.”

Shera did not give up. “Nothing happened? You’ve been crying every night, and you hardly eat. I am your sister, Seraphina. I know when something is wrong.”

I felt the tears welling up again, but I blinked them back. “I do not want to talk about it.”

She sat down on the bed beside me, her voice softening. “Did he hurt you?”

I shook my head. “No, it’s not that. It’s… complicated.”

“Complicated how?”

I struggled to find the words. “He… I… we…” I took a deep breath. “I thought I could handle it. Being around him again, pretending like everything was okay. But it’s not. I still have feelings for him, Shera. And it hurts. It hurts so much.”

Shera wrapped her arms around me, pulling me into a tight hug. “Oh, Seraphina. Why did not you tell me?”

“I did not want to burden you,” I whispered. “And I thought I could get over it. But seeing him, being near him… it brought everything back.”

She stroked my hair, her voice soothing. “You are not a burden, Seraphina. You never were. And you do not have to go through this alone.”

I buried my face in her shoulder, finally letting the tears flow. “I do not know what to do. I love him, but I can’t go back. I can’t keep hurting like this.”

Shera held me tighter. “You need time, Seraphina. Time to heal, to figure out what you really want. And we’ll be here for you, every step of the way.”

I nodded, feeling a small sense of relief. Maybe she was right. Maybe with time, I could heal. But for now, I just needed to grieve the love I had lost.

Chapter One
Fenrir’s POV Why the hell would Helena try to kill Sera? I never gave her permission to; I never even said anything about wanting to kill Seraphina. She went behind my back and tried to kill the woman I love. Now she would have to pay. It's ten minutes to our set meeting time, and as usual, Helena was early. “Come in.” She pushed open the door and walked in. “Shut the door.” She did. “You are early,” I said, scraping my blade against a piece of iron. “I managed to get away early.” “Do you know why I called you here?” I asked, looking up at her with an amused smile. She shook her head. “No, but I would like to use this opportunity to thank you.” I raised a brow. “For?” “The shield thing you built for me. It saved me yesterday, so thank you.” “Saved you from what?” “I was shot at,” she replied simply. “Why were you shot at?” “It's nothing you should be worried about. I am fine now.” I sniggered. “It is not you I am worried about; I am worried about Seraphina.” Helena tensed. “Why are you worried about Sera?” she asked through clenched teeth. “She said someone tried to kill her because she is pregnant with Lucius’s baby.” Helena tried to act calm and collected, but I could smell her fear from here. She wanted to run, but her pride would not let her. “Although I am worried about what will become of you when I am done with you,” I said, standing up. “Why did not you tell me you were shot at this morning?” “It slipped my mind,” she said quickly. Too quickly. It almost sounded like a snap, but Helena knew better than to snap at me. “Hmmm,” I said, coming to stand before her. She was so short. She had to raise her head to see me, to look at me with those wide eyes behind her lashes. She was so f*****g cute I wanted to squeeze her cheeks. When I needed someone to seduce Lucius for me, I knew without a doubt that she could do it. She was perfect for the job. Who can resist a short, cute girl with ungodly curves who knows how to work her body to drive any man crazy? It was going to be the perfect love story, and if Seraphina could have fought back, Seraphina would be the villain because no one would believe she was capable of any harm. Of course, Helena succeeded, and to top it off, Lucius mated with her. And then Lucius decided he wanted an heir and did not want Helena anymore because she could not produce one. Who rejects a good woman only because she could not produce an heir? For f**k’s sake? Even I, who people assume is the bad guy, know that you don't reject a woman just because she cannot get pregnant. I would never reject my soulmate just because she could not get pregnant. No man in his right mind would reject a good woman because she could not bear children, but obviously Lucius did because he is a fool. A big fool, because he sent Helena running back to me. She had fallen for Lucius and abandoned my plan to destroy him until Lucius rejected her for not being able to bear a child. Is this 1872 or something? And now Lucius has driven her to such mad lengths that she was willing to kill him, and I had no problem with that until now. Seraphina was not part of the plan. I don't care if Helena wants to kill half of the Black Manor, but Seraphina stays out of it. Now rage, jealousy, and pain from love have driven her to defy both Lucius and me. “You shouldn't have gone after Seraphina,” I said, caressing her cheek. “I am sorry,” she whispered with tears. “You shouldn't have,” I repeated before I yanked her hair and dragged her to the dark room where I like to experiment with chemicals. She asked how I knew. I told her Shera told me. She screamed and cried. I experimented on her and hit her. She begged and promised to never do it again. She asked for death instead. She begged for death. And all through her suffering, I laughed. You can add sadist to the list of evil things you want to call me.
