The Last Fox

Chapter 6

AROURA

I couldn’t sleep, I just stared out my window admiring the moon. I grabbed a bottle on my nightstand, it was sleeping meds Dr. Mendoza gave me. She told me I was going to need them for a while, I took two chased it with a water and laid back down. I just stared at the ceiling till my eyes got heavy, those pills worked instantly, I slowly drifted into darkness.

I wondered in the heavy misty forest again, I watch as the dew drops drifted up to the sky. I looked around, I saw Dom and l’s pond but it was different, the water was glowing neon blue.

There was a black figure standing in the middle of the pond on a small lily pad, it looked like a woman covered in leaves and vines. She had hair the reached all they way down to the water, it was multiple different colors of brown, red, and blonde.

I walked up to the pond

Come my little fox

Said the voice from before, I looked down to see rock emerge from the pond making a pathway to the woman. I hesitated, I looked at the woman she was facing me with her hand out, I felt a slight pull. I slowly and carefully walked on the rocks making my way to the mysterious woman.

I got closer to see her eyes were the same as mine, crystal blue, her whole body was white as snow like my fox fur.

“I have to be dreaming, why would the Mother Goddess want anything to do with me? Im a nobody.”

I told her standing infront of her.

She smiled at me

I told you, this is not a dream and you are not a nobody. You are the most important creature and play a key role in the upcoming battle

I looked at her confused

“What up coming battle what are you talking about?”

Again in good time my little fox but I will tell you this. Keep Dominic on the right path, for he too plays the most important role but he can’t succeed without you. You two are bonded.

Before I could ask her what she meant by that my eyes flew open, the sun blinded me. I blink rapidly, I sat up and tried to make sense of my dream.

My alarm went off telling me it’s time to get ready for school, part of me wanted to stay home but the fox part of me didn’t what to. I’m going to have to go to school and face everyone one way or another, again I’m not going to let him win. I did my daily routine, cold shower, dressed, makeup. I ran down the stairs, mom just pulled out a fresh batch of cinnamon rolls.

She turned to look at me and almost dropped the tray

“OH, jeepers! Why are you so quite? Don’t remind me I know it’s a fox thing. Why you up?”

I chuckled and grabbed a hot roll

“School duh.”

I shoved the roll in my mouth

“I swear your a wolf at heart, your going to choke of you don’t stop shoving food in your mouth, did you tell her sweetie?”

Dad said sitting down grabbing a roll and his coffee.

I looked at them both

“Tell me what?”

I said though the food in my mouth

Mom hesitated

“Well sweetie, the school called us last night and the principal said he graduated you early! He said you were the smartest kid in the school and didn’t see a problem with just passing you now, you still will be able to walk with your class at graduation but as of now you don’t have to go back there.”

I looked at them, shifting my eyes back and forth.

Dad just looked at his news paper avoiding my eye contact and mom was washing already clean dishes to avoid my eye contact with her.

They were hiding something

“What if I wanted to go to school anyway?”

Mom dropped a glass on the floor shattering, dad quick jumped up to check to see if she was ok.

I grabbed a broom and helped clean it

“Look sweetie they already pushed the papers though and wrote you off, so your free. You can now do whatever you want during the day now.”

Dad said opening the trash for me, they weren’t going to budge

“Ok, guess I’ll go for a walk then enjoy the sun.”

Mom quickly turned

“Or you can stay here and we can watch a show or....”

I ran out the door before she could finish, something was up and I had to find out.

The Alpha!

I knew the Alpha had to have something to do with this, everything had to be approved my the Alpha specially things regarding me.

So I made my way to the Alpha’s house, it was a huge 3 story stone castle. It’s been in Dom’s family since the Middle Ages, it’s been though a lot of moderations though the years. I walk up to the door and knock, Dom opened the door with no shirt on just sweat pants with an outline of his friend down under, tingles shiver though my body.

“Hey what you doing here.”

He asked worried

I cleared my throat remembering why I was here

“I need to speak to your dad.”

His face dropped

“He’s not here he had to go and talk to Micheal about the whole mating thing.”

He opened the door so I can walk in.

My heart sank, did he find his mate already?

He saw the look on my face

“He went to see if he could stall, he’s going to tell him he think we found my possible mate but we won’t know till after my birthday/ceremony.”

My faces softened,

“Well then do you know why you father approved me graduating me early?”

He tensed up

“Um.....”

He knew, that son of a b***h, knew

“Dom.”

I walked closer, he walked back.

“Dom, tell me.”

He kept backing up, he bolted down one of the hallways.

“DOM!”

I yelled chasing after him, we went down the hall.

I leapt and tackled him, we rolled in his sparing room. I got on top of him pinning him down by sitting on him and holding his arms down.

“Tell me!”

He shook his head he flipped me pinning me down, tingles vibrantly though my body cause my body with heat up with urges.

“Your going to tell me, or I’m just going to beat it out of you.”

He shook his head again, I managed to get my foot on his chest and pushed him off.

I stood ready to attack, Dom rolled getting up to defend himself.

I let out a little growl and jumped forward throwing punches, Dom blocked them but one, I got him in the side.

He went down and I jumped on top of him again pinning him down.

“Last chance!”

I cleared my nose and throat, I knew how to get him to talk. I coughed up a big ball of mucus, and let it slowly drip from my mouth hovering over his face.

“NO!”

He tried to wiggle but I had him pinned just right he couldn’t move, it was getting closer and closer to his face.

“FINE!”

I sucked it back up and swallowed it, I let go of his arms, I still sat on him to keep him in place so he didn’t run.

He placed his hand on my legs, sending sparks up into my inner thighs.

“Brian is missing, after the haze he ran.”

I looked at him confused

“Why would he run?”

He lifted him self up with his elbows

“Cause he knew my father was going to execute him.”

Before I could say anything Carly ran in the room

“Hey Dom.... Whoo what’s going on here?”

I got up and help Dom up

“Nothing just doing a little sparing.”

I said looked at Dom

“Well Dom if you have a minute I have some things to go over with you for your party tomorrow, the ‘Special Surprise’.”

She said raising her eyebrows

I looked at her confused

“Wait why aren’t you in school?”

She held up a clipboard

“I’m in charge of putting together the party tomorrow for Dom, so I have the day off to plan.”

Dom looked at me

“Ok stay here I’ll be right back.”

He walked with Carly, they went to the garden out back. I wondered the castle, I remember running down the halls chasing Dom as kids. I went up the stairs, I came cross Dom’s room, the door was cracked. I walked in his room was very spacious, he had an entire wall filled with books. I saw he had a whole shelf dedicated to Foxes, it was every book in existence about foxes. He also had the other hybrids like the Birds, Reptiles, Bears, Wolves, all of them. He even had books on the Mother Goddess, curiously I opened it up. The first page I opened to was an illustration of the Goddess, she looked exactly like the woman from my dreams.

I heard a ping from his computer, the screen turned on. I walked over to it to see his background was a picture of me from the welcome home party.

“You looked so beautiful that night.”

I turned around to see Dom leaning in the doorway

“You didn’t look to bad yourself.”

I walked over to his bed and sat on the edge

“So tell me why Brian thinks your father was going to kill him. He didn’t break any laws, and it happened during the haze which he had no control.”

I looked at him, he made his way over to the bed and sat next to me.

He took a deep breath

“He did end up breaking a law, he just didn’t know it.”

I tilted my head confused

“What do you mean he didn’t know? The only law that he could break that would result in him getting executed would be....”

I stopped mid sentence, it clicked.

The only law that would result in a wolves execution even without them knowing or having control is harming an Alpha or in this case a future Alphas mate.

I just sat there in shock, trying to process that the man that I’ve known my entire life, the one who’s save my life twice is my mate.

“WAIT!”

I yelled out of nowhere, causing Dom to flinch

“That’s not possible, different hybrids can’t mate with others outside there race.”

He shrugged

“I’ve been reaching it for years, nothing comes up.”

He took my hand into his

“But I know you are my mate, when I turned 18 and you walked though the door, my entire world stood still. Your scent hit me like a fright truck, frost and sweet berries, I’ve never smelt something so intoxicating. You were the only person that mattered, and I knew it was my job to protect you. I’ve always had a feeling you were the one, ever since I found you in that tree. I knew you were mine.”

He whispered resting his forehead on mine.

This was a lot to take in, then I remembered what the Mother Goddess said in my dream.

I jumped up and grabbed that book

“That’s what she meant!”

Dom looked at me confused

“What who meant?”

He looked at me has I flipped though the book

“The Mother Goddess, I was pretty sure it was a dream. She first came to when I was in the hospital after Brian r***d me, she told me she didn’t mean for all this to happen. Then last night she came to me and told me you and I were bonded and that I have to keep you on the right path for there’s an battle coming and we’re the key.”

Dom looked at me like I was crazy

“The Goddess told you there’s a battle coming and we’re the key? I mean it’s just as crazy as a wolf and a fox being mates.”

I looked at him

“So you believe me.”

He got up and walked up to me, he took the book from my hand and threw it on the bed.

He held my hands

“Of course, but I just don’t know what battle that’s coming.”

He held my hands up to his lips, my body heated up and tingles rushed all over.

“But I do know we are bonded, and I’ve waited this long. Now I know you know I’m willing to wait till your ready to accept being my mate.”

He kisses my hands lightly, I knew what he meant when he said when Im ready.

I smiled

“Thank you.”

I rested my forehead on his bare chest, he can heard light rumbling almost like a purr.

We just hung out in his room, we laid on his bed intertwined, he was talking about how he wanted to tell me I was his mate but couldn’t and the real reason why his father sent him away.

BUZZ BUZZ

“Whoo, careful. I can only hold back so much but with you vibrating on me makes it harder.”

Dom chuckled playing in my hair.

I giggled, I pulled out my phone it was my parents

Hey little fox time to come home we have dinner ready in an hour, are you ok?

I text back telling them I’m fine hanging out with Dom and I’ll be home soon.

I looked up at Dom meeting his big blue eyes

“I have to get going, I’ll be back tomorrow for your party though.”

I whispered

He smiled

“You better cause I have a surprise for you.”

Whispered back kissing my forehead.

I got up and headed down to the door

“Wait so are we going to tell the rest of the community I’m your mate or we keeping it a secret?”

Dom bit his lip

“The rest of the community already knows, the night of the haze.... I kinda uncontrollably yelled you were my mate.”

I widened my eyes,

“Oh so you did call me your mate, I just thought it was from the concussion. And that’s why your father pulled my graduation early as well, you didn’t want me to find out.”

Dom shrugged

“I wanted to be the first to tell you.”

I smiled

We hoped in his car and he drove me home.

I gave him a hug and went in the house, I was met with the smell of pork roast filling my nose with seasoned veggies.

Mom was in the kitchen setting everything up for dinner while dad was on the phone, doing Gamma things.

“Dinners done!”

Mom yelled she saw me and jumped again

“Oh geez, I have to get you a bell lovey.”

I chuckled and sat down, dad came in shortly after. We laughed and told story’s about childhood memories, I felt good at this moment like everything was starting to fall into place. I not only have a mate but I’m mated with my best friend in the whole world, then in the back of my head a little voice

You two are the key to the upcoming war

I had to find out what the Goddess meant by that.
