AROURA
Wave after wave of panic, I had to pull over a few times to throw up before I finally got to the clinic. What am I going to do, I can’t be pregnant, I don’t want to get an abortion. But I have never heard of a cross breed surviving birth and there’s a high chance I won’t survive as well. I pulled up to the parking lot and just sat there crying, I put my hand on my stomach.
“What are we going to do?”
I whispered to my self and the baby like it can hear or understand.
I collected myself and went in, the nurses greeted me with a smile and lead me into a special room for the Alpha and Luna.
I sat down
“Dr. Mendoza will be right in.”
She said closing the room
Not even 2 minutes she walked in
“Hello my little fox, what brings you in today?”
She said with her heavy Spanish accent
I couldn’t find the words to say them without tears, she saw my face
“My dear, what is wrong? You can tell me it’s ok.”
I nodded my head and took a deep breath
“I think I maybe pregnant.”
I managed to whisper
She face was joyful at first then turned to fear realizing I’m a fox, the only fox with a wolf mate.
“Oh my. Um right then when was your last heat cycle?”
I cleared my throat
“Last month, I should have had it in the beginning of this month but its been 2 weeks and I’m late. I went out last night and got sick eating one sushi roll, I love sushi. Then I wanted a PB&J, I hate those but wanted one really bad.”
Tears started to fall from my face
“Sshhh ssshh, don’t cry little one. It’s ok, it could just be late due to all the stress. You have a lot of responsibility now as Luna and stress can affect the body this way, we will do a test ok?”
She said hugging and rocking me, that made me feel a little better.
Since I’ve been Luna I’ve had a lot of responsibilities and have been fairly stressed.
I nodded my head, she went in her cabinet and pulled out a pregnancy test.
“This is the best of the best, all you have to do is pee on this end and put the cap back on. Then we wait for a few minutes and this little window here will tell you plus sign for positive or minus sign for negative, ok, the bathroom is right there and I’ll be here waiting for you.”
She said showing how to use it.
I took it and went to the bathroom, I did as she said and walked out and handed it to her.
She placed it in the counter, it felt like forever.
She looked over to see and the look of fear ran all over her face
“Positive.”
Her voice was shaken.
I couldn’t breathe, I was shaking
“Aroura, breathe it’s ok we will figure this out. You want me to call Dominic?”
“NO!”
I screamed making her jump
“No, No Dominic doesn’t have to know. Is there anything I can take that will....”
I couldn’t say it, my heart sank.
“There is a pill you can take that will detach the fetus, causing a miscarriage. You should be early enough that it won’t cause damage, it will be like a very heavy period.”
Tears ran down my cheeks, I nodded my head
“I’ll take it, I take it at home.”
She nodded
“You call me as soon as you start bleeding and then keep me posted after, if anything doesn’t feel right you call me immediately.”
I nodded, she went in a locked drawer and pulled out and bottle. She took out one little white pill and placed it in a little baggy.
“Drink lots of water, it will help with the cramps and passing the fetus.”
My hand shook as I took the little baggy from her. She gave me a hug and checked me out.
I got in the car and cried.
I drove up to the house, Dom’s car was gone he must be doing Alpha stuff. Perfect that way he didn’t have to see me take the pill and find out, I don’t know how he would react if he found out. He always said he wanted a child when we were kids, he wanted a little boy and he said he’d teach him everything there was about the other hybrid.
I walked inside and ran straight to the bedroom, so no one saw me, I had to get this over with.
I grabbed a bottle of water from the little fridge in the bedroom and grabbed the pill out of the baggy.
I looked at the pill, it was so little but can do so much damage.
Don’t
I froze
He is the dawn of the new age, he must live.
Tears filled my eyes, I looked at the pill.
I put it to my lips, then threw it in the toilet.
I fell to my knees and cried.
DOMINIC
I kept looking at the clock, Aroura should be back from the clinic now. I hope Dr. Mendoza found out was wrong, I know a bug as been going around.
“Dominic?”
I snapped back
“Yea sorry, what’s going on?”
Carly looked at me
“The rouges are gone, they left their camps and belongings, vanished without a trace. We tried to follow a scent but there was none to follow.”
I nodded my head
“Did you search the whole area?”
Jace nodded
“Yes nothing, and the strange thing is the trees, grass and flowers were all dead. Like the life was sucked out of the whole area.”
I nodded
“I’ll consult with the elders, I wonder if it has to die with Shia and her witches.”
They nodded, we got up from the table and headed out.
“Hey is Aroura ok? She didn’t seem to good the other night.”
Carly asked
I shrugged
“She went to see Dr. Mendoza today, I’ll find out when I get home.”
Jace patted my back
“Well good luck with that, I’m going to do one more patrol run before the night shift come in, just to see if anything changes.”
“I’ll join you hun, let me know when you find out.”
Carly said
I nodded and got in my car and headed home.
Aroura’s car was out from, she’s home now. I go inside and head to the bedroom, the light was off. She was in bed already
“Foxy? You awake?”
No answer, I quietly walked up, I heard her breathing. She was sleeping, I got undressed and cuddled up against her, falling asleep I’ll just ask how it went in the morning.
I’m backing in the field again but this time with was dead, the grass was black and flowers welted.
I looked around and saw Shia standing watching me, she looked different. Her fire red hair had black tar in it, her eyes were black and so was her teeth. Her claws were out and black tar dripping from the tips, she was growling.
I felt a little hand grab mine, I looked down.
It was the little boy from before, he looked up at me and smiled, he had a smile that was identical to Aroura.
You must protect him
My eyes flew open, my body involuntary jumped up. I was covered in sweat and breathing heavy, I looked over to see Aroura still sleeping.
I have to find out about this boy and why the Goddess wants me to protect him.
I slowly and carefully got out of bed, I ran to the other side of the house were the elders lived. I knocked on one of the doors, a half asleep Alex opened.
“Alpha, is everything alright? It’s 1AM.”
Alex was one of the younger elders but he had a gift, he could look into the future but only for a short time.
“I need you to use your gift.”
He looked at me confused
“For who?”
I shook my head
“I don’t know but the Goddess just came to me and said I have to protect this boy, I need to find this boy.”
He nodded
“Come in.”
I walked in his room, it was filled with books and tables of books.
“Let me get my things I’ll be right back.”
He disappeared into a little room, he came back with a ruby dagger and a marble bowl.
“Hand please.”
I gave him my hand, he took the dagger and cut my hand. He held it over the bowl catching the blood, when he got enough blood he let go and held the bowl.
He chanted something in the old Norse language, and took a small sip.
His eyes turned all white, his body began to shake.
He gasped, his eye returned to normal and stopped shaking.
“What did you see?”
He looked at me in complete shock
“The boy, he is your son.”
I looked at him confused
“That’s not possible, Aroura and I can’t have children.”
He shook his head
“This, this is your son. The Goddess has plans for him, he is going to bring the dawn of the new age and change the world. But dark forces want to use him for other things, this child.... He is special.”
I just stood there like an i***t
“But.....”
The room began to spin, I had to sit. I dropped down to the ground.
“How is this possible? Will Aroura survive the birth?”
He shrugged
“I don’t know, I can’t see with out her blood. But Alpha, you need to keep this child safe when he arrives. He can not fall in to the wrong hands.”
I nodded my head
“Ok. So you know when this child is supposed to be born?”
He looked me dead in the eyes
“In a few months.”
My heart dropped, shes pregnant now. Then it clicked, getting sick when we had sushi, wanting PB&J, being emotional. She’s pregnant now. I guarantee she found out today at the clinic, I wonder if she’ll tell me when she wakes up.
I got up
“Thank you Alex, sorry to barge in like this.”
He bowed
“Anything for my Alpha.”
I put a hand on his shoulder
“Let’s keep this between us for now, I don’t think we’re ready to share the news just yet.”
He nodded
“My lips are sealed.”
I left his room and went back to mine, I laid back down and put my arm around Aroura placing my hand on her belly.
