8. My Luna

Lindsy POV:

I picked some books to read and I sat on the couch as Henry and Randall went to talk in the office.

Susan approached me.

“Hey, am I interrupting you?” she asked me and I shook my head.

“Of course not.”

“I just want to say that I’m so happy that Henry has you now, he’s been lonely and he will be without us here. As you know, Randall and I will be leaving in less than a week now” she said and just then I realized that I had to spend as much time as I could with her. I wouldn’t be seeing her regularly anymore. I put my book aside and looked down.

“Are you OK? Did I say something that upset you?” she asked me and I looked intently at her eyes.

“No, of course not, it’s just…I just got here but I’m going to miss you, is that weird?” I asked and she chuckled and hugged me.

“Of course not, not at all. I’m going to miss you too, you seem like a really good and nice girl, exactly what Henry needs” she said, and my heart melted over her words, she seemed to notice it.

“Can we have a girl’s talk now?” she asked me and I frowned.

“What’s a ‘girl’s talk’ talks about?” I asked her and she chuckled again.

“Everything we feel like saying, our secrets, our feelings and everything we say, dies here and we won’t talk about it to anyone else” she said and I arched my eyebrows in realization while slightly nodding my head.

“All right, what are we talking about?” I asked her. I was so curious and I was enjoying it.

“Do you feel something for Henry?” she asked, looking intently at me. I blushed fiercely. What could I say? What if I tell her and she tells him?

“Hey, don’t worry, remember what we say to each other now, die here. That’s the only rule of a girl’s talk” she said, smiling and I smiled at her back.

“Well then, I do. I’ve never felt this way about anybody else before but I don’t know what it is. I even thought he was my mate but he didn’t seem to feel any pull towards me, so I don’t know what to think and besides, I never had anyone in my life before to realize what’s going on inside my heart now” I told her honestly and closed my eyes, I felt ashamed telling her those things but it was a girl’s talk, right? She wouldn’t tell anyone.

She hugged me smiling and her eyes were glistening.

“What about you? Was Alpha Randall your first too?” I asked her and her expression changed, she got uneased.

“Luna Susan, I…I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to pry”, I told her with an apologetic look.

“Hey, don’t worry, it’s just because it was too painful for me to remind myself of. I got abused, Lindsy” she said and my eyes opened wide and my heart clenched painfully for her.

“Oh Goddess, Luna Susan…” I felt some tears falling from my eyes. “I’m so sorry…I hope whoever did this is dead by now”, I told her.

I would never imagine it. I’m glad she is happy now with someone that truly loves her and protects her.

“He’s not but I’ve learnt to deal with it, I’m healed” she said.

I looked down, many thoughts running through my mind.

“Do you know who did this?” I asked her.

“I was from your Pack before; did you know that? I lived in the Silver Moon Pack and after it happened, I ran away until I reached the Black Moon Pack’s border”, she said and it made me look down.

I decided to myself that I would do whatever it takes to get to the bottom of it.

“All right, enough with the heavy. If you want some tips on how to deal with Henry, I would say pretty much to you to keep doing what you’re doing; be yourself”, she said and I was startled.

But soon I smiled at her and she smiled back at me.

Susan and I went to the living room, we chatted a little more and Odete told us that the dinner was served. We were about to eat when Randall and Henry showed up and joined us.

After we finished, I got uneased.

Where should I sleep?

Henry left my stuff in his room. Will I be sleeping there with him?

“Henry, I think it’ll be better if Lindsy sleeps in your room, it’s very spacious and will prevent the wolves from gossiping about you two”, Susan said and he nodded.

“I think so too, but it’s better if we ask Lindsy; what do you think?” Henry asked me and I just nodded.

“Yes, I think it’s better too”, I told him, and we made our way to our room.

“You can sleep on the bed, the couch is bigger here and I’ll fit in” he said while chuckling.

“Thank you, Henry, but you shouldn’t have to do this because of me, I’ll be fine on the couch too” I told him. I felt uneased and he noticed it.

“This is your new place. I’d rather have you sleep in bed, please. I’m fine” he said, and I just looked down and nodded.

I went to the bathroom to change my clothes, I put on a bright blue t-shirt and black shorts and untied my hair, I brushed my teeth and I counted until 10 to calm me down.

I left and laid on the bed. I quickly fell asleep.

Henry POV:

She left the bathroom wearing a blue T-shirt and black shorts and I thanked the Goddess she wasn’t staring at me because I couldn’t get my eyes off her. I was intoxicated by her scent.

“I want her, I love her and if you don’t act soon, I’ll force shift and do things myself, Henry”, Chaos said but I was too distracted to even get mad at him.

She fell asleep quickly, which meant she was relaxed and happy here.

I smiled over this thought and I approached her.

She was so beautiful, I felt like I could spend the whole night staring at her.

I was a mess, my heart and my head were fighting between themselves. My heart wanted her, wanted to tell her everything, that she was mine, but my head was telling me to be cautious and stalk her some more to make sure she wasn’t here by her father order to take advantage of my pack.

“And there’s me saying to you to make her fall in love with us. That way we don’t need to take advantage of the mate bond to be with her and you can dig a big hole and bury your brain in it”, he said and I rolled my eyes at him.

I laid on the couch and fell asleep smelling that wonderful scent she had.

I woke up in the morning and she wasn’t there, she really wakes up so early.

It was still 6:30am, I did my morning duties and got ready to leave the room and made my way down.

I could hear she was talking and laughing with someone.

I went to the kitchen and she was there introducing herself to the Omegas and helping around in the kitchen. She looked happy and outgoing.

She was about to leave the kitchen and I went in. She quickly changed her expression and looked down.

“Good morning, Henry” she said. She wasn’t serious or scared, it looked like it was something natural for her to do.

I lifted her chin to make her look at me and I sighed, she was indeed beautiful, she was wearing black leggings and a white tank top, her hair was made into a high ponytail on it.

“Good morning, Lindsy” I said and she smiled at me while she was blushing.

I felt like I was almost kissing those pretty and soft lips she had, but I held to the self-control I didn’t know I had and my fingers left her chin and the table was already done for the omegas to serve us.

“Are you the one who did it?” I asked her.

She glanced at the table like she was looking for any failures.

“Yes, did you like it?” she asked me, she sounded so innocent.

“It’s beautiful, thank you” I told her and she kept staring at me like she was mesmerized by something.

“It’s because she’s feeling something for us, you moron. Now don’t miss this shot and kiss that pretty lips she has”, Chaos said and I snapped out of my thoughts.

I smiled at her and looked away.

The Omegas served us and we ate. Randall and Susan were still sleeping when we left the pack house.

I opened the passenger door for Lindsy to come in and I closed it after she comfortably placed herself in the passenger seat, I went to the driver's seat and turned the car on and I drove to the city.

We stopped by in front of the security building.

Before I made my way out, I glanced at her face and she did the same.

“We have to pretend from now on, all right?” I asked her and she nodded at me and she was going to open the door.

“Wait” I asked her and she stopped.

I opened my door, went to her side and opened it. I offered my hand and she held it, sending jolts of electricity all over my being.

We entered the security building holding hands.

“Wow, this place is amazing” she said, staring at it all in awe.

“Hey Henry, how’s everything going?” Alex asked me and he looked at Lindsy “Luna”. He bowed down.

“Everything is fine, I’m showing the city to Lindsy” I told him.

“It’s nice to meet you, Alex. I’m Lindsy Redcliff” she said, smiling at him and I had to held back a growl.

“Wonderful, here’s the place where we maintain the security of our pack and all the other packs that we outsource our services” he said.

“That’s amazing, how many wolves work here?” she asked.

“50 Wolves and 3 Dragons so far, but most of the Wolves are warriors and they don’t come here often, just when we call them when the rogues attack” he said and Lindsy’s eyes opened wide.

“Dragons?” she asked.

“You know, Randall’s daughter is Alice and she’s the Queen of the Dragons. They’re currently living in the Human Realm. There were some dragons that wanted to come back to the Realms, but ever since they’re still figuring out how to close the portal that has been opened by the Dark Prince on their Realms, we’re hiring some of them”, I explained to her.

“Wow, that’s so amazing, Henry. You’re the best Alpha ever” she said so naturally and I smiled at her and her statement also made some wolf howl happily in my mind.

“And you’re going to be the best Luna this pack ever had” I told her caressing her silk face. She blushed and giggled.

I kept wondering if she could really be faking it all, she always seemed so spontaneous and natural.

“Of course she’s not faking anything, you moron” Chaos said.

“Let’s see, she might not be faking it, but I still think there’s something odd” I told him.

“And I’m a wolf and I can assure you; You’re being stupid right now” he said and I rolled my eyes at him and put him at the back of my mind.

I was being pressed by my beautiful mate, who I don’t know if I could really trust, but that was drawing myself into her every time more and more and also by my horny wolf.

I really didn’t know for how long I’d be able to use my rational side.

We left the building and went to the Pack Hospital.

“It’s huge and gracious just like everything else in this Pack” she said staring at the hospital.

“It used to be a small clinic and Susan was the only doctor this pack had and I gave her a suggestion to teach other wolves that were also interested in joining this career.

Now it’s this hospital, we have a lot of doctors and nurses. Besides, the beds are apart from each unit, there’s the Emergency over there.” I pointed a finger on our left side of the Hospital, there was some ambulance cars parked outside. “The second floor is half the pediatrics, and another half is the laboratory, and the third floor is half the ICUs and another half if for the wolves who ever needs some kind of hospitalization and there’s the private room for the Alpha and Luna” I told her.

“Come, let’s take a look around” I said and she nodded dramatically.

When we were about to go in, a woman that I knew very well came in.

“Hi Henry, how are you? Who’s your friend?” Eva asked.

Eva was the woman who'd been trying to have s*x with me for what it feels like forever, but I never gave in. She was beautiful but I didn’t feel sexually attracted to her, I didn’t want to take advantage of my position and her father was my friend.

“She’s not my friend, she’s our future Luna” I told her and she frowned and then she laughed.

Lindsy tightened her hold on my hand and I did the same in reassurance.

“But she’s so young, what does she know about ruling a pack?” she asked. I was about to say that she was my mate and Eva needed to respect her Luna, but to my utter surprise, Lindsy just gave her a sweet smile.

“Hello, my name is Lindsy Redcliff and what I know is that a leader should always listen to its pack members, stand for them, protect them, care for them and respect them. I know I have a lot more to learn, but I’m sure I will always try my best to do a wonderful job and it’ll be easier with Henry by my side” she said the last part, looking at me and wrapping her arms in mine. I smiled at her and caressed her face. She was amazing.

“I told you” Chaos said.

Eva was speechless and just rolled her eyes.

“I bet you never had a man in your life to deal with an Alpha, sweety” she said to Lindsy, looking enraged.

“Eva, enough, she’ll be your Luna and you have to respect her” I told her in a not so kindly way.

“It’s OK, Henry” Lindsy told me and turned to face Eva again “You’re right, I didn’t, but that doesn’t mean that I won’t do a hell of a good job and I’ll do whatever it takes for the pack members feel proud to have a Luna who cares and fights for them” she said and I felt so overwhelmed by my feelings.

I didn’t know if it was because I knew now she was saving herself for me or her sudden determination to fight for the pack. I just held her hand and made our way out of the Hospital.

When we were outside, I couldn’t help it but to hug her. I held her like my life depended on it, I held her in my arms, never wanting to let her go, as Chaos was howling like a horny pup in my mind.
