Back at Diane’s
Diane never did come into the prep room, even though Monica doled out ten vicious wallops with her belt. Even though, Monica gave him—as a favor—five extra in case that would lure her. The punishment did seem to help Diane feel comfortable again, though. With her belt returned snug around her waist, she caught Kevin wincing with pain as he worked in the kitchen, and she flashed him the smile he often got to see at her apartment.
He seemed to be on probation, for a period, during which Monica prodded him along a series of incremental proofs—designed with Diane’s comfort in mind—of his ability to contain his jealousy and appear graceful in his position of service.
