The Abused Mate

Chapter 3

Anna's POV:

I managed to crawl to the shower and grasp the handle. I had almost no energy, but just enough to turn the water on. I was already naked so I just laid there and cried. I called out to Nova, but to no avail. She was hurting just as much as I was but I needed her. I called out to again. 

“I’m sorry Anna, I’m here.” Nova was very weak, but kept speaking. 

“Our mate is coming for us. I can’t do this anymore and I can’t watch or feel your pain. I know once you shift, you will have strength, but I’m only good as your bestfriend right now. We need him.” I was silent. I just kept crying. My 18th birthday was in a month. I thought about what she said for a long time before asking her what all she said to him. 

“I told Cole we were in trouble. Damon needs an excuse to come back though. Coming uninvited can start a war, the Jade Moon Clan would be wiped out by Damon and his clan.“ Is our mate really that ruthless? I shiver at the thought of having a violent mate. What if he was mean to us too? 

“Anna, don’t think like that. Damon has been looking for you…. For a couple years actually.” I couldn’t believe what she was telling me. I got out of the shower after gaining some energy from the heat and put on some clothes. No one had called for me yet, maybe they decided to leave me alone this time after what they allowed to happen this morning. I started walking over to my blankets when I saw a motion in the corner. I turned quickly, but there was nothing there. Then all of a sudden, it went black. I woke up outside on a desolate road. It was nothing but dirt surrounded by trees. We had to be on the outskirts of our territory, maybe we were close to the Black Moon Clan? Could we be saved?

Jake crawled out from behind a tree and stalked around me like I was prey. Nolan came out from another tree and went right behind him. This is it, they are going to kill me. I had blood seeping out of my back and inbetween my legs, I had no strength to run away from them. Hunter took a step back and Jake stepped forward, shifting into his black wolf. The wolf lunged at me, digging his canines into my leg. He took turns biting my legs and Nolan held me down. The wolf finally stopped and Nolan began kicking me in the stomach. I could hear my ribs breaking as he kicked over and over. I begged them to stop, Jakes wolf pounced on me again, this time biting into my shoulder, pulling my arm out of socket. It popped back in quickly as I screamed in pain. Jake shifted back to his human form and got on top of me and started punching me. I could feel my skull crack and nose break as blood swelled in my mouth. I started to see dots. This was it, I was going to die. By my own brother, none the less. Nova finally spoke up, whimpering, “He is here, we are saved.” 

As she spoke, a giant white wolf leapt over us knocking both Jake and Nolan back. The white wolf quickly shifted to his human form and turned to look at me. I get a glimpse of his wavy black hair, down to his eyes, which were blue as the sea. I could smell hints of mint and fresh cut grass and he approached. Hunter jumped at him and a war started. The men started fighting like mad men, both shifting to their wolves. I heard a snap of bones and saw Nolans wolf go limp to the ground. Jake immediately yelled and shifted and ran back towards the pack house, knowing their beta was dead. The white wolf approached me and I couldn’t believe it. He was beautiful, and he had a black crescent moon over his left eye. Nova whispered before we both past out, “Mate.”

Damon's POV:

I can smell her, hints of lavender, sunflowers and tea tree oil. Cole keeps telling me shes in trouble, I know she is. I can feel it. I have felt every single ounce of pain she has been in since we first met six years ago, My father was meeting the old Alpha of the Jade Moon Clan and I past her in the yard. There were over four clans there that day, I didn't know which one she belonged to. Her wolf must not have emerged yet which was odd because of her age. Cole howled inside that she was our mate, I have dreamed about her since. I have felt everything she has been through and today is it.

Her smell is getting sweeter and I can hear screams of pain. 

Cole whimpers inside, “Nova, Anna, they are hurt.” My eyes turn black and I instantly shift into my wolf. Cole is so angry, I can feel it as he runs through the forrest. 

“Slow down, I cant even see where you’re going!” I basically yell at him. Cole doesn’t listen and keeps running. The screams are getting clearer but weaker. Cole runs faster til he sees an opening. We both see her. She is on the ground being bitten by a wolf and beaten by a man. Cole blocks me out completely and takes charge. Within a few minutes, Cole has killed another wolf. 

Cole gives me control back as we walk towards Anna. She locks eyes with me for a second before passing out. I shift back to my human form and slowly pick her up in my arms. I mindlink Ruby and Matt to meet me with a car so I can take her a hospital. I’m so mad right now I can’t see straight. I run through the woods with Anna in my arms as gently as I can but quickly because I cant lose her. I see Ruby and Matt arrive quickly, we are on our territory after all. Matt opens the door and Ruby helps me place Anna in the back seat. They get back in and I take step back. 

“Aren’t you coming? Your mate needs you now!” Ruby was yelling at. My eyes turned black as I replied, “I have something to take care of first.”

I had steam I needed to blow off before I could finally meet her, I was so angry I didn’t want to scare her. I’m sure she had heard the rumors about me and my family, but she is my mate and I will explain everything to her. I just hope that she accepts me and trusts me. She is my whole life now, I will protect her and love her no matter what. I shifted into my wolf quickly, and Cole ran for half an hour before running straight to the pack doctor. I shifted back to my human form and went inside. 

“Ruby, where is she?” I asked waiting for a response.

“Okay, before I tell you anything, I need you to take a seat and take a deep breathe. It scares me to even tell you this but I'm trusting you wont flip out on me.” Ruby is sad while speaking to me. I just nod my head, dreading the words that are going to come out of her mouth. 

“Your mate is going to need a lot of rest…and surgery…. She has multiple broken ribs, her skull is fractured, her wrist is broken in two places.” She pauses, “She has internal bleeding in her uterus.” My eyes turned black hearing her words, I knew what they meant. My mate was raped. Someone took what was mine, and Cole and I were both angry. I could only imagine how Anna must have felt. So helpless, and I couldn’t help her.
