The Abused Mate

Chapter 9

Anna’s POV:

It was so beautiful up here. I had never seen anything like it. I could feel eyes watching us but I didn’t think much of it since we were in the middle of nowhere.

Damon could sense my nerves and quickly wrapped his arms around my waist.

“It really is beautiful up here isn’t it?” I asked. He simply laughed and kissed my cheek.

Ruby and Matt were walking around gathering things to make a fire while Elijah took in the perimeter.

We got the fire going and were sitting around talking when we started hearing sticks and twigs breaking. I looked around as everyone else.

Damon grabbed my hand and told me to be calm.

“It’s probably just a deer or something. Nothing to worry about.”

Elijah sniffed the air and quickly jumped up.

“That’s no deer, that’s an intruder. It smells like you Anna.” He said.

Oh no, that could only mean it was my brother. But where was he? I knew his mate Lily would be with him, but we didn’t smell her. Damon mind linked everyone at the same time, including the other Pack members of his.

“We need to have a meeting, we are at the cliffs now headed back. Elijah will meet with anyone who has any questions. We have intruders.” Damon cut the link off and looked at me.

“We are going to head home. Your brother will be found. I don’t want you to worry about him anymore.” He said as he grabbed my hand. I smiled at him in return, but still nervous knowing my brother wanted me dead.

We quickly shifted back into our wolves, Frag in front, followed by Draco and Pearl. Nova and I followed behind her and Cole was behind me. Everyone kept their eyes everywhere. I could still feel eyes watching us. Damon mind linked that we needed to travel faster and we needed to start running.

“I can hear faint yips and growls. I think your brother may have joined rogues.” Damon said.

“I agree, I can smell your scent, but I can also smell something disgusting and that can only be them.” Ruby replied.

Frag stopped dead in his tracks as I was about to speak. I looked up and we were met with 3 rogues. We all shifted back to our human forms and I made sure everyone had clothes on. I pictured it and they had.

“We have orders to get the girls.” One rogue said.

“I’m sorry girls?” Damon said.

“Yep, your worthless mate and that cute one right there.” He said with a grin. “I want her all to myself.”

“Over my dead body!” Matt replied. “Your not taking my sister or sister in law you crazy bastard. You want trouble, your about to get it.”

Damon walked over to Matt and put his hand on his shoulder.

“Who is your leader? I’m guessing it’s my mates psycho brother?” Damon asked.

“Ding ding. But he’s not psycho, he just wants revenge for you taking out his entire clan.” Said the other rogue.

That’s when I realized it. They were members of my old pack. I didn’t recognize these two. I couldn’t see the third one. He kept his face hidden. I had a feeling it was Jake.

“Come on Jake, I know it’s you. Show yourself you coward!” I yelled.

The rogue took a step forward and took his hood off. I saw his face. I remember those eyes. He was the one that raped me that night. That took everything from me. I almost fell backwards with terror when I saw him. His voice made me tremble with fear.

“Hello little one, how did you fare after our encounter?” He asked with a grin.

“Wait, your the one who attacked her? You did that to her?” Damon asked. Elijah and Matt were standing beside him.

“Why does it matter? I can do whatever I want, I have no alpha. And besides, I could tell she liked it.” He said with a smug grin.

Before Damon could reply, Nova took over and shifted so fast, you could of missed it if you blinked.

She grabbed the rogue throat and ripped his head off without a thought. I was in shock. Then war broke out. One of the other rogues pulled out a gun and shot me with a dart. Ruby tried getting it out of me but he shot her with one too. I could feel myself getting tired, I knew it was a tranquilizer. The alpha side of me wasn’t going down so easily. It’s crazy how much power I got once I shifted.

Ruby past out within thirty seconds. Matt and Elijah were taking on one of the rogues and both were being beaten. Matt got knocked down and was punched until he fell unconscious. Elijah turned to Damon and saw he was being overpowered by the remaining rogue.

I tried to get strength to stand but it was to no avail. Elijah got jumped by the one that knocked Matt out and soon Elijah was on the ground too.

Both of the rogues surrounded Damon and started laughing.

Damon turned to me and mouthed “I’m sorry.” And dropped his head. One punched him in the face again and he fell to the ground. He tried to get up but didn’t have the strength. They were going to kill him. I wasn’t going to let anyone die today because of me. I had been pushed around, beaten and god knows what else thrown at me. Today was the day I showed my true self. I mustered up the strength to stand and yelled at the rogues.

“Leave my family alone!” I yelled trying to assert my Alpha voice. They both trembled slightly then looked at each other.

“Looks like we got a fighter. It shouldn’t be too hard to take you down.” One said to me.

They both lunged at me and all I could see was Damon. The way he was laying on the ground, along with the other people I had grown to call my family.

Nova took over still in human form and I felt my body start to heat up. I screamed at them as they charged and they both just dropped to the ground. I stomped over and held them with my gaze. I realized I was actually holding them still. They were in pain from trying to fight it.

I didn’t see Damon wake up, or the others for that matter. But they saw me do something I wish they hadn’t.

I held the men there for a minute, then with a c**k of the head, both of their necks snapped. I looked around and saw everyone looking at me with a worried look. What just happened? My body cooled down and I felt myself grow weak.

Damon managed to get to me and catch me before I fell. The last ten minutes happened so fast it was blur. I hope they didn’t see me differently then they did before. I hope they know I did this to save them. I just hope.
