Chapter 1: Heroes of the apocalypse
"Alchemic energy is divided into four basic attributes: fire, water, earth and air. Each of these can further be sub divided into-" The teacher stopped, after noticing a boy sleeping at the back of her classroom.
Out of irritation, smoke appeared on her hand and quickly meandered it's way towards him. Some of the students held back their laughter to avoid waking him up.
However, a boy who resembled him, simply ignored the commotion. He continued focusing on his books, whilst ignoring his brother's actions. As the smoke drew nearer, the class grew quieter.
"What a waste of sperm." He mumbled softly, accidentally breaking his own pen in the process. The ink quickly evaporated before it could leave a stain.
The smoke soon reached the sleeping boy, where it forced it's way into his nostrils. Like a rabbit, the child jumped off his desk and fell onto the floor. Before he could get up, the desk along with his stationary landed on top of him.
"That hurt." He complained, rubbing his head in the process.
Everyone in class immediately laughed at him, even those who were annoyed at first joined in.
"What a loser!"
"What do you expect from an abnormal?" Some students spoke.
From next door, a young girl could hear all the commotion. Out of embarrassment, she gently banged her forehead on her desk. "Not again."
"Cody this is not a hotel for you to sleep in. If it wasn't for your uncle; I would have kicked you out of my class a long time ago." The teacher stated before she resumed the lesson. "You are just like your moron of a mother."
Upon hearing that Cody placed his stuff properly, while the other students watched on. As he was about to finish, most of them directed their attention towards the teacher.
"Is it sad that the alchemic type you have does belong to anyone else?" A girl sitting next to Cody asked. "I'd be sad because attributes determine your place in society. This means that you are at the bottom of the barrel."
"Quiet back there! Cody stop disturbing her." The teacher shouted, causing the other students to laugh.
"Just be glad that you sat next to me and that your uncle is at the top." She added, before writing on her book.
Just before he could shed a tear, Cody smacked his cheeks simultaneously. Let's get to work. This is no time for moping.
The school bell rang and an army of fourteen year olds was seen rushing out of the building. Just as Cody was packing, two boys approached his desk.
"Hey guys want to borrow my notes?" Cody asked. He took the book out of his bag handed it to them. "The teacher was fast as usual."
"Why would we borrow notes from someone who barely passed the written exam." The boy with glasses questioned.
"Besides your hand writing is bad. I get headaches from looking at it." The taller boy with orange hair added.
"If that's not the case then I'm leaving." Just as Cody passed between the two, the boy with orange hair put his left foot in front of him causing Cody to fall.
"Where do you think you are going? Our friends haven't arrived yet."
"Kenya is right show us some respect. You may be a Dlamini, but you possess the attribute of an abnormal. This makes you scum." The boy with glasses stated.
The two dragged Cody and placed him on his chair. "Guys let me go."
"Oh what?"
"Or you'll deal with me." A person interrupted. She was proudly smiling with her finger pointed at them.
"Abby!" Cody shouted, as a boy appeared from behind her. "Zack."
"Why do you always rush in without a plan? Telling the teachers about this was a better choice." Zack added as he approached everyone.
"Listen up. If you touch him you'll have to deal with me." Abby warned, before clutching her right hand.
"It's too late for that. Cody is already dirty." Zack pointed out.
"Do you think Kenya is afraid of either of you?" The boy with glasses questioned. "Think again. Why should he be afraid of a mistake and a Mamba clan coward?"
Upon hearing those words Abby activated her attribute. "I'll show you both who's the mistake."
Crap they shouldn't have said that. Cody thought, as he tried to stop her.
"What is going on here?" A teacher entered the class.
"Sir. Cody and his mindless followers were about to attack us." Kenya stated. Witnessing Abby's attribute activated caused him to believe Kenya. Just before Zack could speak, the teacher activated his attribute.
"All three of you will clean the entire knight faculty building. Zack I'm disappointed in you." After that, the teacher stormed off.
The sun began to set by the time the trio finished cleaning the building. At that time only a few students were around. As Cody was putting back the magic items they used, a girl with short orange hair passed by. The two quickly looked at each other before moving on.
Cody looked at the direction she was headed before Zack touched his shoulder. "You still haven't told us why the teacher was shouting at you."
"You heard that huh?"
"Yeah! How couldn't we?" Abby joined. "It was so humiliating."
"Well last night I had that dream again." Cody stated.
"You mean the one with that monster?" Zack asked.
"So what does that have to do with anything? Everyone gets nightmares even me." Abby responded.
"That's true, but when I woke up, the wound I got in the dream; had manifested in reality a." Cody rolled up his sleeve and showed his friends.
"That is impossible. How did that happen?" Abby freaked out.
"I don't know, but I was too afraid to sleep." Cody answered.
"Have you told your mother about it? With her vast knowledge I'm sure she can-" Zack paused, after noticing a person approaching them. Cody turned around to see what Zack was looking at.
It's Sito and he looks pissed. Cody observed. He swallowed his saliva, bracing himself for what's coming.
Without hesitation Sito held Cody by the shirt and pinned him on a nearby wall. "You are a disgrace to the Dlamini clan." Sito stated. "Why wasn't it you that died that day?" He complained, while angrily glaring at his brother.
"Sito calm down." Abby spoke, as she approached them. Without a second thought, Sito shot a beam of light at her before doing the same to Cody. In mid-air Cody used his attribute to create a black staff. Zack on the other hand, used his wind attribute to catch Abby.
"I can't calm down. This i***t has embarrassed my family. He needs to be set straight." Sito added, as he sent another attack towards Cody.
I have to stop the attacks before they hit my friends. Cody planned, as he blocked the attacks.
"It seems like you've learned some stuff after all." Sito commented as he prepared to attack again.
"Stop Sito. Wait till we get home. If we keep doing this here, we will get punished." Cody begged, before noticing a dark aura around his brother.
"Do you guys see that?" Cody asked.
"See what?"Abby questioned as she tried to get up. "There is nothing there."
Am I the only one who sees it. Cody observed while blocking the attacks. Whatever it is, it must be the cause of all this. I must remove it.
After blocking an attack, Cody attempted to attack Sito, but the spell did not work. Why now? Cody questioned, before he was sent flying by Sito.
Zack quickly caught him using his spell, before diverting his attention towards the other twin who was running at them.
In a panic, Zack blasted Sito across the hallway using a gust of wind. "D-Didn't you hear your brother, he said s-stop." Zack spoke.
"Who do you think you are to mess in another family's business?" Sito asked, while increasing his energy output. A sword of light appeared from behind him and flew towards Zack. The weapon managed cut through his defenses like butter, sending him flying.
Zack flew towards the faculty building doors. He had hoped a teacher would arrive, but he quickly remembered that it was a Friday. This meant that they were in the administration block for a staff meeting.
The Mamba boy landed near the feet of a person headed towards the Knight faculty building. The boy whose dark blue hair covered the left eye observed the scene.
He saw Sito emerging from the building. Sito then trapped Zack in a prison of light. Unfortunately for the observer he was included in it.
"Hanging out with my brother has made you weak. Prepare yourself for the sword of revealing light!" He shouted as a giant sword of light appeared behind him.
"Sito stop!" Abby and Cody shouted as they emerged from the building.
"Next time think before you attack a member of the Dlamini clan!" Sito stated before he swung the massive sword at Zack.
All Cody could do was watch helplessly as the sword fell towards his friend. "Get results, prove you are the strongest." Cody remembered the words, that someone had told him. He watched as the sword fell on his friends. How can someone be a magi if he can't protect and save the people he cares about?
Just as all hope was lost the attack stopped. Lightning surged throughout the sword, simultaneously destroying it. When the smoke cleared, Cody noticed the eyes of the boy with blue hair return to their blue color.
"So being a Dlamini gives you the right to hurt others? How pathetic." The boy stated, as he starred at Sito. "If that is how you think? You will never be able to stand a chance against me." Sito observed the boy, however he could not tell if he was lying.
After seeing this, Abby breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank goodness." At that moment Cody noticed the dark aura fade away.
"I'm leaving." Sito spoke, while his sword vanished. He walked past the boy and purposefully bumped his shoulder. "I'll show you at the knight exam how strong I am."
Zack sat on the ground still shaking from the ordeal. The boy searched for his friends who tackled him from behind.
"If you were planning to be a magic knight, I suggest that you train harder. Either that or quit entirely." The strange boy stated, before entering the school building.
Lightning, is he a member of the endangered Tsela clan? If that's the case, how the hell did he get strong? Cody thought as the boy walked away.
While the kids left the area, a dark figure stood on a nearby building. He had observed the entire skirmish till the end. "It is still not strong enough." He stated, as blood dropped from his hand. "Now where were we?"
