Chapter 2

1425 Words
It was past nine and I knew they won't be back till midnight. I got up from my bed and headed out, to my mother's grave, I needed to see her, I needed to meet her. I grabbed the jacket and left to her grave. The cemetery was half an hour away and I decided to walk, I needed to think, I needed time with myself. The pain my mom felt all those years came rushing me down. I felt vulnerable for not able to save my own mother. My whole body was shaking with the agony as her lifeless body came in front of my eyes. I was midway when I heard howling and my body froze. It's not possible for werewolves or any wolf to roam at this hour in this place but again rules and laws are for humans and not for animals. Tightening the jacket around me, I quickened my pace and the voice became louder. I stopped and looked around to find the source of noise but I found nothing, absolutely nobody. Leaving at this hour in a place where forest is near isn't exactly the smartest decision and I cursed myself for not considering it before. And then I saw red eyes glowing in darkness and my whole body froze. I looked at the giant creature in front of me and a loud scream escaped my mouth. And the next thing I did was run away like any other sane person would have done. And in that process I dropped my phone and I didn't dare to pick it up. I don't know where I ran, and I didn't wanted to know until I am away from that animal. I never ran this fast in my whole life as fast I was running in the moment. The growls started to subside after half an hour of continuous running. I stopped to gasp some air and my mouth hung open and I realized I was in the middle of the forest, in the middle of woods and I had no idea how to return back. Panic started to surge inside me as every way led me to the same spot. Bad thoughts started conjuring my mind and I started to breathe deeply. I need to be calm down and find my way back. "What are you doing here, little girl?" My thoughts were interrupted by a deep voice and I shrieked at his suddenness. I turned around to see a man in his twenties standing in Armani suit and hairs combed nicely. His deep brown eyes pierced my black ones. His lips tightened as he looked at me more deeply. His tall figure hovered mine as he stepped towards me. He was gorgeous and intimidating. "Oh, nothing just came here to catch some flies, wanna join?" I said sarcastically while my voice laced with fake enthusiasm. His eyes visibly darkened at my sarcasm and I felt a wave of shiver passed down me. This was inhuman for his eyes to darken but I kept quiet. "Don't test me little girl, you won't like how is it for me to lose patience." His voice was low and menacing. There was a threat in his voice and I refuse to let him threaten him. I narrowed my eyes at him for few seconds and turned my attention back at leaving this forest as fast as possible. "You never answered me, little girl." He spoke as a matter of fact and I narrowed my eyes at him. "I do have a name, you know and it's surely not 'little girl'." I snapped glaring at him. Bad move, really bad move. Next thing I knew I was slammed against a tree but to my surprise he made sure I wasn't hurt in the process. I felt a weird tingling as his hand touched mine. "Do not disrespect me, little girl." He spoke in low and demanding voice and I audibly gulped at his tone. His grip on my hand loosened and he sighed in annoyance. "I am lost." I muttered and his eyes snapped to mine. "I'll leave you home, come with me." He said taking my forearm and I jerked my hand from his hold and he rose a brow at me. "How do I know, you are not a kidnapper?" I asked crossing my hand across my chest. He stepped forward leaving merely an inch or two amid us and bent down to my ear and whispered in a husky voice. "Simple, trust me." My breath hitched at our proximity. But soon I snapped back into reality and stepped back. "I can find my way back, I don't need your stupid help." I said boldly and his eyebrows shot up at my words. "Either you'll come willingly with me or I'll force you. Choice is yours." He said in a monotone. I gaped at his words. "Look mister, you don't own me. I won't come with you and why does it matter to you?" I asked bitterly and his eyes darkened at my tone and a growl escaped from his throat and I flinched back. He is a human, right? "Why does it matter to me? You dare to ask me that? My mate here is roaming in the middle of a forest at this hour and she dares to ask me why?" His words dared me to defy him. I gulped at his icy tone. That's when I registered what he said. Mate? Did he just say MATE? "M..mate?" I stuttered out. "Yes my little mate." He said holding my hand and dragging me out of the forest and I flinched from his touch and jerked my hand from his grasp. His eyes glowed yellow and I knew he was at the edge but I was too scared to  think about it. "Wh...who are you?" I stammered out. He looked at me as if I have grown two heads but he answered. "Hayden Black." His voice echoed in my ears. I have heard this name before, but where? And then the bell rang in my head. "King Hayden Black?" I asked in a shaky voice. "King Hayden Black." He confirmed and panic rose within me and I flinched back. This can't happen. He is a werewolf and I am a human. He is a king and I am an ordinary human being. I backed away from him but he was quick to hold my hand. I started wiggling out of his grasp but his one look made me follow him silently. Soon we were in front of my house and I saw cars parked in front of my house and I knew they were back home. He knocked the door and the door opened revealing a very worried Amanda. She must have noticed me missing. "Ki...king Black." She stammered and bowed her head in respect and he nodded back curtly. All three of them looked horrified seeing King of werewolves at our house. But the real shock was yet to come. "I'll be back tomorrow morning by sharp eleven and I hope you'll be ready with your belongings to shift with me." He said looking at me intently and I glared at him. He can't just expect me to move with him. "Who the hell you think you are?" I yelled at his face and I heard my family gasping in horror and shock. Of course nobody dared to disrespect him and here I yelled at his face. But king or not, nobody can treat me like a possession. "Crystal." Father said in a warning tone but I was too furious to give a damn. "Crystal." King Hayden Black said it and a shiver passed down my spine and he smirked. "I know, you don't want me to take you right now without saying goodbye to your family. So be a good girl and listen to me." I knew he wouldn't hesitate. When I kept silent enough from him to know I had accepted his proposal or basically his order, even though reluctantly, he turned to my father. "I hope my mate is safe here for a night." Three of them looked at me astonished and horrified but no one dared to go against him, not even me. "Take care, mate." He said stroking my face gently before taking his leave. For a minute I felt pleasure from his touch but soon I was disgusted of him, for taking me away from my family. And I won't leave him for that.
