I felt what I first thought was rain hitting my face as I blinked and woke up to Jake leaning over me. Panic was written on his face. "What happened?" I asked him. I noticed the way he seemed to relax, then move back away from me and let out a slow sigh of what I'd only guessed had been relief. "You gave me the scare of my life." Jake answered simply. "Sorry." I told him as I sat up and rubbed my hand across my face, thinking that I was wiping off rain. However, when I pulled my hand away, I was surprised to find that my hand was covered in soot, as if the stuff falling from the sky was ash. "What's going on?" I looked up from my hand at Jake.
