CALIX
"Hey bro," Antonio waved his hand over to me and I clasped his hand with mine. I grinned. He pulled in a smirk, and I knew we were both doing this again. The both of us got down on to the hall of the school with our hands tied together. "I'm going to win again dude."
"We'll see about that and maybe you'll wipe that smirk off of your face." I grinned the both of us armed wrestled with one another. He had inserted his strength so much that he was already trembling and I was also inserting mine. I nearly pushed his hand down to his left side when he tossed in more energy surprising me, and nearly got me loosing. I quickly gather my energy onto my hand and pushed back to its original position. He started to groaned when the both of our strength clearly matched each other. We were both breaking out sweat. In this arm wrestling it was a battle of endurance to see which of us will fall first. As a girl I know I will loose this battle, but I did not go to gym to work out everyday for nothing.
Two minutes had already passed and we were both at our breaking point. Once his hand gave out a bit of strength I quickly pushed his hand down to the left with a loud spank on the floor he groaned in pain and wailed. "I win." I smile. "Now wipe off that smirk on your face."
He sighed and shake his head. "I don't even know if you are a boy or a girl sometimes. Do you always have to bind your chest why not grow out your hair and wear bra for a change? I think you'll look quite hot in it."
"Pshh," I responded. Tossing his waterbottle from beside the locker to him and gobbled down our water at a same time as we panted. "Why don't you do it then?" I asked.
"Do I?" he asked. "I'm already a man."
I shook my head and laughed. We remained silent for a moment until Antonio stood up blocking the sun from my view. He knew it wouldn't do me good to stay silent at all times. It gets me thinking about the past and things I could do to change it. So he held out his hand and I gave mine as he pulled me up from the floor. He pulled me close to him and hang his hand around my neck.
Many students had always confused us to be gays since we were always together hanging out since I have a dark short messy hair and I always bind my chest showing out like I was a boy. I never liked the idea of wearing bra and showing off my chest and cleavages like some girls do. I don't even like the fact I have boobs making people think I am a transgendered when in reality I am just a normal androgynous just my masculine side shows more than my feminine side adding to the fact I have quite a well built body for a girl. To some people it says I have a tall and well toned body with wild oceanic blue eyes.
Antonio here is my childhood friend we grew up almost together and we could talk about anything and everything. We talked to one another whenever we have troubles going on with our lives, but we never have romantic feelings for each other but brothers. His blonde curled messed up hair makes him stand out from the crowd which begs girls for the attention he craves not to mention when he smiles a dimple comes out of his right cheek. This guy has aura of an rock star with tall built body, big brown chocolate eyes, and masculine features. He always gets the girl and when he gets in to their pants he just dumps them making him a complete player, but he never betrays his friends and remains loyal.
When we arrived to the classroom Lauren and Paul waved over us saving us seats so that we can all sit next to each other like we always when one of us arrived early to school. Lauren and Paul always sat next to each since they were a couple, but they try to tone it down whenever I'm around knowing there was some complication in my previous relationship which I appreciate.
As I sat down a girl soft began to hum again it was soft lullaby. I have been hearing for over a week now and no one in here can't seem to hear it but me. I tried to drown out the noises from my ears but it was getting louder and louder that I had to put my hand over to my ears to block out the sound. Just when I can't take it anymore the school bell rang marking our first period of class and just then the song disappeared. Antonio put a hand over to my shoulder. "You alright, Calix?" I was hesitant but slowly I nod.
"Was it the strange song again?" He asked.
I nod and I patted his back. "I am alright, Antonio. I am alright."
When our first class was over all of us split to get into our own individual class. I was about head to class when the familiar tune came on again this time the voice was fading away from me further and further away into the hallway like it was asking me to follow it before I knew what I was doing I followed the voice through the hall way up to the stairs. When I realized the voice was coming from library I was a little bit hesitant, but suddenly the voice started to fade away faster than usual and I scrambled onto the door headed inside the library chasing after the voice. When it totally disappeared I was standing in front of bookshelf, and a certain book peaked my interest.
I pulled the hardcover book out it was old with nothing written on it nor there were picture. It was just a thick book. I held the book for a moment until a thud sound came rolling out of the novel. I stood down taking the golden ring into my finger examining it there was a ruby that rested on the top of the ring with weird encrypted text on it. I open up the book to see if I can find any clues to this ring but it turns out to be just a normal empty notebook. I sighed.
I thought I could finally find out who had been singing to me all this time but in the end I only found a ring with an empty notebook which I thought was a novel. I dropped the ring into my jeans and headed towards my class. I was late for it, and I have never been late to class. Thankfully, Mrs. Lawrence was always lenient with me. She would probably scold me a little and forgets this later. I am her favorite student that is what I like to say, but she kept saying that she loved everyone of us equally. However, Mrs. Lawrence treated me better than the rest of the students. And no one gets jealous of me. I got along with everyone fairly well.
I headed down to the class and my prediction became true. She gave me a light scolding before telling me to sit down. For the rest remaining time in school my thoughts came circling around the mysterious ring that I had found in the library. I was also distracted when I was practicing basketball if it weren't for Antonio screaming out to me the ball would've landed on my face. I took the ball that came rolling down onto my face into my hands with quick reflex I began dribbling it as I ran closer to the net. I jumped and threw the ball into the net turning the tide around with the members of the red team. When the ball bounced back to me again everyone expected that I was going for a jump when I faked it and dunked the ball into the net. I wipe the sweat away that ran down from my temple and panted from the sudden exhilaration.
The whistle went off and my team won cheering in victory. Antonio passed me a cold water tossing a towel over to my head. He went and sat beside me by the bench when B players was playing. I held the ring in my hand. "You would've died out there if I hadn't called you Calix," he scolded.
"Sorry," I apologized.
"You got that right make sure you stay alert. I don't want you to get concussion on me." He drank his water. "Seriously, what's wrong you haven't been acting normal by second period."
"I followed the lullaby today," I admitted.
"Seriously, who had been singing to you all this time. Tell me the name and I'll torture the b***h for tormenting my brother."
I shook my head taking the towel off my head and wiping the sweat coming off of my neck. "There was nobody in there and I found a ring in there."
"Ring? Just turn it into the lost and found then."
"The ring might belong to the person who keeps singing to me. I think if I hold on to it she'll appear." He nods understanding the situation. I am happy that I have a brother like him and he is superstition claiming that he had seen ghost in his childhood days so he believed every word that I had to say.
At the end of the day I took the key out from my backpack opening the front door the second I was in the house I was under attacked by someone who was masked and was entirely dressed in black. She took the blade and wanted to pierce into my chest but the minute she did that I dodged the attack with my backpack pulled to the front turning into shreds and thanks to having good reflex I took the mask off the assassin face but to remained surprised in the act. My eyes widen at her similarity of my previous lover that took form right in front of me. A sour feeling came off of my chest and I called out her name in guilt.
"Amy."
