3 Reyne's POV I wanted to message Chase in the car itself, but I had saved his number under his real name. I didn't want dad to see it so I didn't go anywhere near his chat. Anyway, I quickly drafted some messages and sent them to him. Reyne: Hey. So sorry. Something happened at home and I got late. Reyne: I'm on my way now. I hope you're still at the party, baby. I sent it with a desperate grin. Chase had left some messages before. He asked me when I would come. This was hours ago when the party started. I replied to it just now. Just when I was about to explain why I couldn't make it on time, the elevator doors parted with a chime. I was welcomed by deafening music reverberating through the corridor. Room 705 was in the corner. The door was open. I was surprised no one minded this loud music. Maybe because it's coming from future Alpha's house! Reyne: I'm here, Chase. Where are you? I sent another message and clutched my phone tight before I stepped into the apartment. It was massive. I was momentarily transfixed, it was that massive! For some moments I stood at the doorstep, trying to figure out what to do. The room was dark with colorful party lights flickering all around us. There were so many people. Music shook the walls and people were dancing everywhere. The hockey team had taken over half the house, still wearing pieces of their uniforms and celebrating like they had just won the championship of their lives. My eyebrows furrowed when I detected one of the opponent team's members. Perhaps they were also invited. Anyway, with a deep breath, I tried to mix in the crowd. I smiled at some girls and waved at others. I felt a pang when they made faces before ditching me. This is the hardest part of being at a party— They don't acknowledge my presence even though I'm the beta's daughter. They treat me like an outcast because of my average looks. Although my heart had already started squeezing in pain, I decided not to let it get to me. Instead I looked around the room to find my Chase. I tried to move through a tightly-knitted cluster of girls. They had drinks in their hands. I was going in the other direction, but when I overheard someone mention my boyfriend's name, I scooted closer to hear them. "Chase is so hot. I wish he was my boyfriend." One of the girls said, causing me to clench my teeth. Bìtch. Has no one taught her to not desire someone else's boyfriend? "I don't mind if he was my boyfriend for a night. Gosh, he's got such a fine body. I want to taste him. Even if it's for a few hours." "Well then dream on, girl. Because Chase doesn't do one night stands." I smiled quietly. That's right. Chase is loyal to me. Although we haven't had sęx yet (since I am still not eighteen, and I prefer to hold it until then) he's very understanding and loyal as he promised to never go to another girl. "Hey, what are you doing here? Listening to our conversation!" I girl thrusted a hand against my shoulder. I balanced myself before I fell. I was about to answer her back when another girl snickered, "Wait, it's the ugly sister from the Beta's twins." "Wait, are you listening to our conversation because you like Chase too?" Another eyed me repulsively. "Haha, she's got to be highly delusional if that's the case." "Hell, yeah. Chase wouldn't even let a girl like her surround him." "If she was a bit better then maybe he would let her blow him. Unfortunately she's not even worth that." Anger and hurt cut through me like a saw. I had a lot of things to say but I just walked away from them. Such mean and pathetic girls they were. And what did they say about me not being worthy enough to have Chase in any way! Well, they don't know the truth. If they did, they would've melted in envy. Standing in a corner, I cast a glance around. Everyone here was mean. They thought they were better than me. I'm the beta's daughter and still get mocked. However nobody here knew that the captain everyone was admiring belonged to me. Nobody knew that the boy everyone loved on the ice had held my hand beneath tables so many times. That he kissed me in empty hallways. Whispered that he loved me when nobody was listening. Nobody knew that Chase and I had started dating when we were sixteen. And they definitely didn't know that the guy doted on me like I was the most precious creation of the Moon Goddess. Two years. It's been two beautiful years of sweet dating. Although it was our little secret, it was full of thrill. We snuck out when no one was watching. We kissed when people were in the other room. We held hands in a class full of students, and somehow no one ever found out anything. My eyes landed on the girls who just insulted me. You wannabe whøres, I can't wait to see your faces when Chase and I make our first ever public appearance after making our relationship official. Because then, I would be the one pushing you back. I would humiliate you. Anyway I didn't come here to let such bïtches affect me. I came here for my boyfriend. Adjusting my hair, I stepped farther into the house. My eyes immediately searched the crowd. Chase wasn't there. I stepped into the kitchen and my heart stuttered for a while. Some guys were getting a blōw job from girls there. I quickly ran out and searched the rooms. There were about five rooms here. All occupied by several couples, making out in each corner like this was the last time they were doing it. Where are you Chase? I halted in the living room again. The crowd had somewhat lessened. I searched among the available people. Nothing still. In the end, I decided to call him. Just as I hit the call button, my phone buzzed loudly in my hold. My eyes brightened because it was Chase. I desperately received the call and lifted the phone to my ear. "Chase, where are you? I looked for you everywhere in the apartment." My voice was laced with complaints. "Aah! Mmm, hell yeah. Chase, you're so good." My knees trembled when I heard that on the phone. I blinked my eyes and pulled the phone away to look at the call ID. It sure was Chase's phone number. But why was I hearing a girl moaning? "Mmm, aaah. Be gentle, Chase." My throat dried as I heard that voice again. J-jeyne? I could never make a mistake recognizing her voice. It's her. It's her on the phone. "I never knew you're this desperate for me, Chase. I thought you loved my twin a lot." She said amidst heavy breathing. There was a moment's silence before I heard Chase's voice. Alas, it sounded nothing like the way I was accustomed to hearing it. "Argh, don't take that barnacle's name right now. She's such a mood spoiler!" "Barnacle! That's a crüel way to address your girlfriend." Jeyne laughed. "Girlfriend? My taste is not that bad. She's not my girlfriend. She's so clingy and needy. Always clinging to my body like a barnacle." My grip on my phone loosened. I felt like my body was going down a tall building. Controlling my tears, I moved further towards the wall. I stood against it as I held the phone tighter near my ear. Chase was making unbelievable confessions. He just said I was not the girl he truly loved. "Are you serious, Chase? You were with my sister for two years. How can you not love her if you stayed that long with her?" Jeyne sounded shocked, but all I heard was satisfaction in her voice. "Will you hate me if I tell you that I was with her just to be closer to you?" "Huh, are you serious?" "I really am, Jeyne." Something about his voice made my stomach twist. "It's you who I really love. When I first saw you, I lost my heart to you. The only reason I was with Reyne was because it's convenient. Being around her meant being around you." "You're disgusting, Chase Astor. But I'm impressed, too. You did all that with my sister just so you could be with me." Jeyne laughed, and it fell over my heart like thunder. The room was full of people I knew. Yet I felt like I was alone in a forest with no one by my side. Tears pricked my eyes like needles. They slowly streamed down my face as with one hand I clutched the phone to my ear, and with another my heart. This was really painful. Tbc…
